Cant catch a buzz

Besides waiting for the stem to heat soak before taking the first puff, have you also let the stem heat soak between hits? I've found with the air sometimes it needs to recover heat between hits, and if you hit too quickly back to back, the session can be underwhelming.

Also maybe try holding the hits longer.

If that doesn't do anything I wonder if it's the quality of the weed. Because ime lower quality weed can still get you high with smoking, but can vape very poorly.

Hi, im new to the dry herb vaping world. Been nic vaping for almost a year now. I bought a Arizer Air 2 about a week or so ago and i cannot for the life of me catch a dang buzz using the device. Ive figured out the inhale, i know the temps, but for some reason im just not catching a buzz from it. I have a parcel in the mail with an 1/8th of top end buds and it should get here today. Hoping the top shelf buds will help. Im hoping someone has run accross this before and may be able to help. I hate the idea of a Tbreak. I havent been without weed in years and i def get super bitchy without lmao also, i have a medicinal prescription for up here in Ontario Canada, but i dont use it as i can get cheaper stronger weed elsewhere. Just figured i would through that in just in case its somehow relevant, even though i cant imagine how it would be lol

Tia for any help and info.

Also, im using the glass stems that came with it. I dont own a bong or bubbler and cant afford one as the last of my money went to the top shelf weed lol im on ODSP, Ontario Disability, so it was hard enough affording the vape in the first place. Thanks again!
Hi

Can't catch a buzz? I can often relate. Thankfully, you are in Canada as am I.

Here is what works for me.

First is getting a good source, at a price that won't break the bank. There are great deals online. Have you ever visited Haute Health?

About a year ago, I discovered dry herb vaping. The buzz is different. I also have a very high tolerance. The simple truth is that the brain can only process so much THC and CBD at one time. The average human reaches a plateau, either falling asleep, maybe getting some naseau, but not much more. It isn't like drinking. At some point, it is easy to just waste money.

For me, there are days where I can consume a massive amount of cannabis, and not feel much. There are other days, I can have a small amount, and my head is spinning. Again personally, cannabis is used instead of benzodiazepines, so recreation should be second to the benefits. I've complained about this to my doctor, and this was his advice.

Stop chasing the dragon. Slow down, relax, and respect the ritual. There is power in ritual. When the 'trippy' feeling comes, enjoy it, but don't chase after it. Enjoy filling the bowl, notice the flower, smell the flower, touch the flower; make note of everything in your mind. Focus on the ritual when stressed. Use the ritual to transition your mind to something else.

I sometimes need to do this a few times a day, just to redirect worry into productive activity. That said, I am human, we live in stressful times, and just like getting stoned. The doctor was right, however. If I stop desperately trying to get stoned, it is a more enjoyable process, and there is a better chance of getting the feeling I desire.

A few months ago, I invested in an SAI Vaporizer. That will get me ripped, but I have wasted a lot of money on shatter in short period of time, and it hasn't done anything for my health. Health gains I made before Christmas, started to fade. When I talked to my doctor, he again reminded me of his advice. Now I am slowing down again, going back to flower, and respecting the ritual. Shatter has its time and place, but for me, there is little ritual. The truth is that even if I don't feel 'trippy', there are other benefits. Slowing down and relaxing, itself can be under rated.

Last, here are a few things that make a difference for me......
  • Eat properly. Can't get buzzed on an empty stomach
  • Magnesium - cannabis use depletes magnesium
    • The brain needs magnesium, it aids cognition and sleep and just makes a difference
    • Magnesium relaxes blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, reduces headaches
  • Fish oil makes a world of difference for me
    • Mental health, physical health, fish oil is good
    • Fatty acids are required for trippy feeling and for SSRI's to work
  • Eating cannabis, plus flower can wipe me out
    • My preference is eating hash
    • While I enjoy being buzzed from hash, this often causes headaches, stomach problems, and is very disruptive in many ways
  • Enjoy a variety; my preference is to buy flower, hash, kief, shatter, whatever is on sale
    • Flower is great ordered in 7g packs as it stays fresh
      • Here in Canada we can get some pretty decent stuff for $2-$3/gram; we live in a golden age
  • Mandarin oranges or any citrus
    • This is how I get vitamin C. Some say citrus can help with a buzz; I'm not sure
  • My favourite vapes are conduction vapes
    • Arizer Solo II
    • Flowermate
    • Original Starry v3
We are all different. Try different things.

wow.. so it's really nic maybe, FOR YOU PERSONALLY? as we see in this thread.. nic affect each other differently....

I don't quite understand why you come back to the nicotine aspect again. :-) Keep in mind that @HyDrOpOnIc1987 does use e cigs too (unless I missed something), so he is able to have the same mix of nicotine and THC as when he was still smoking. They don't affect each other (unless you are not used to nicotine of course); THC and nicotine work with different receptors for example. Nicotine doesn't even have a very noticeable effect at all, the main aspect is to soothe our craving for it. When you smoke or vape nicotine, you will typically not only do it occasionally, but all day long. In short: he enjoyed nicotine when he was still smoking, he still does (in a much healthier way) now, so it's the same mix of substances he is used to anyway.

Hey, i have boh mid range and a couple grams of top shelf and there wasn't much of a difference tbh. I def heat soak between hits. Was advised that on reddit when i first complained of my issue :) i try and hold my toke in for 3-4 seconds, but the time is dependant on if i need to cough or not lmao thank you though. I apreciate you taking the time to help :):)

Hi there, I've been trying to create a new ritual with my vaporizer and i think when i get the DynaVap, that ritual part will have a lot to bank on lol i definitely dont eat as well as i should. I eat as well as money provides. Rent food and bills all come first, but with the price increase on food and just plain old cost of living, its definitely not as easy as it used to be.

Come payday though, I'll take a look at a few affordable options for vitamins and suppliments :) hopefully that will help.

I dont use too much concentrates, although i have gotten a bit more the last few months. Maily a gram or 2 of live resin or shatter to last a full month. Usually 1 gram though. Ive always been afraid to make my tolerance too high so i tried to stay away from for a while, until my mother in law started tossing me parts of her grams lmao then i started buying it and got a little Yocan Cerum atomizer for my box mods. I bought 1 gram of live resin last month and still have a couple hits left in the little jar lol

I'll definitely take more time out for the ritual part though. I definitely noticed that if i relax thats when i catch the small buzz. If i try and vape like i smoke, nothing. Good advice, and much appreciated :):)

Thats what i figurd. I used to be addicted to opiates because of an injury (i say used to be, but i know addictions are a life long thing. I just dont give it any thought anymore as i dont want my addiction to have any more power over me than necessary) and because of that i started doing research into all the meds and drugs i would use. I remembered from that time that nicotine has its own receptors, like cannabis. Thought that a couple days ago but didnt want to mention it and be wrong lol tyvm for reminding me of this. Helps a lot :)

Things to do that helps with potency based on my experience

1. Frequency: Vape once or twice a week and no more, each time only 1-2 hits, self control is key here, easier to quit, no withdrawal symptoms, you get your dreams back at night
2. Inhalation technique: Inhale as long as you can, 30-60 seconds, i like to mix my air with fresh oxygen, boxed in a room helps too like a small bathroom, exhaust off, exhale a little and inhale again over and over, the deeper the better
3. Cleaned devices hits better: those gunks in the air paths diminishes your potency for sure, clean devices often, squeaky clean, if gunk is in the way, the vapor that passes thru will gunk it up more, potency will then be lower
4. Bud quality: obtain the best buds you can for the best potency, whack buds the effects gone in under 45 mins
5. Boveda 62% + mason jar: properly store cannabis in 62% boveda mason jars, replace the bovedas in 6months or 1 year intervals, dont be cheap and try to "reuse" them, they are cheap enough to purchase at around a dollar each, oxygen absorbing packs are optional but recommended
6. Extraction device: newvape, milaana 2, ghost mv1, sticky brick jr, maxx, elev8r, glass stem w/ titanium dyna cap, tip and screen, cloud evo all hit very well for me, .20-.25g per session

When you treat yourself to a long week with high quality buds that were stored in mason jars with boveda packs, take out your cleaned device and take your time to slowly enjoy the vaping process and inhale properly, you will get very very very lit

Thanks! I definitely havent been storing my bud properly, so i guess i need to grab a boveda pack lol the quality of buds i get is mid range, im not made of money so i get whats within my budget :)

I clean my stems every 2 days, just to ensure theyre working properly. They get mildly gummy before, but then i throw them in a travel tube with some 70% ISO as it was all i could get when i got my vape.

Ive worked on my inhaling technique. I slowed everything down more, still same issue. About to do a minor 2-3 day Tbreak to help. Because of my disorders and disabilities, i need to smoke more often than not. Its smoke or go back to opiates, and i want the F away from those lol

Thanks for taking the time ti jot down what works for you. Been taking things from everyones explanations and tweaking my ritual and technique. I appreciate all the answers from everyone. Reddit ignores people a loy when they have legit questions or concerns. Its ingore or make fun of you. Nice to have people who've seen and heard it all before, and can HELP with REAL advice lol thank you everyone!

You know, I wouldn't stress too much. Dry weed may not taste as good, but it will produce effects. It could be my imagination, but old dry flower leaves a different kind of buzz. Sometimes it is a mellow feeling, sometimes, it makes me sleep.

Don't forget your AVB. There is sometimes a lot of goodness left in the leftovers from vaping. Sometimes when chasing the dragon, my AVB will be left black like coffee grounds. However, when I am using more common sense, my AVB is a light golden brown. To get full value, I always save my leftovers for a rainy day.

Do you have access to a medical doctor or mental health specialist who has experience with psilocybin? Low doses can be very interesting, but not recommended without medical advice. Psilocybin can interact with antidepressants, and other meds used by those with depression or anxiety. It has helped me with increasing productivity and reducing the 'blah' feelings that come from long term use of SSRI's. There have been negative side effects too, so again, seek competent medical advice.

I tried shrooms a couple times when i was younger, but not in a medicinal setting. I'll definitely look around about that. I have a medical marijuana prescription that is left unused atm as the bud available locally in the grry market was cheaper and of about the same quality. Since im on a strict budget, i felt why pay more if i dont have to :) lol

I use my abv everý few days when i havent been able to catch much of a buzz for a 3 or so days. Doesnt give me the most, but it does give me a nice relaxing body high :) mine tends to be slightly brown with golden brown in it. So its definitely not fully extracted lol the Air 2 doesnt really let me fully extract, or at least i havent been able to get it too yet. I can hike the temp to full (220°c) and it just charrs the bud thats on the side closest to the oven. I dropped the temp to 210°c now in hopes it charrs less.

medical marijuana prescription
My doctor gives nothing specific. He says buy what tastes good and fits your budget, buy small amounts, if a strain doesn't agree with you, avoid it. Keeps notes of what is good and what isn't.

I'm in my late 50's, I've lived with depression since my teens, and I've been through a lot of doctors over a lot of years. Some doctors think they know everything and will tell you how to feel better. My doctor says, "it's your disease, you have had it most of your life, and you know more about Dysthymia than I do". The other side of that statement is that he is a medical doctor, a psychiatrist, lots of experience treating mental health problems, and more common sense than most in the medical community. He prescribes my prescription meds, he makes me monitor my mood and health, we talk, and he advises. I've done well following his advice which has followed the theme, "stop trying to get stoned, and just enjoy the ritual".

For me, vaping is like cigarettes. I can vape until my throat is sore, I cough, and can barely breathe. That's not healthy, that just isn't common sense. Chasing the dragon can be fun, but again, common sense and moderation come into play. The advice was to stop trying to get stoned, just enjoy what you are doing; enjoy the ritual.

When the "stoned" feeling comes, it's great. If it doesn't, I just enjoy the ritual.

This tells me you might be packing too tight. Try going looser, and not packing all the way to the rim of the stem, so the bud doesn't come in direct contact with the bottom of the heater. Then you should be able to up the temp and get a more uniform heating. Also might help to use a coarser grind.

„Synapses“.

That's like saying you can't have a coffee with your vape when you want to get high.

And again: mixing tobacco with weed is very common around the globe.

I vape nicotine all day long. I used to smoke weed with tobacco. And yet I get high easily. Your idea makes no sense (and the articles don't really back that up too, should I have overlooked something, please quote the respective segment) – if that was true, @HyDrOpOnIc1987 (and every other nicotine user / smoker) wouldn't have been able to get high at all.

Absolutely, it just makes sense.

Everything affects how a buzz feels, and some of those things create harmony, some disharmony, and some don't do a damn thing.

People have been mixing tobacco and cannabis for thousands of years. In the middle east people eat hash, and it reacts with food and alcohol. There are no absolute truths, but we can look at others around the world, and look back through history for some ideas.

Personally, mandarin oranges are a daily staple for me. They seem to help, but that is my imagination.

Hey, i came here asking for help so even if it may not seem right, as long as its not dangerous ill give it a shot :) the nicotine part i cant help, as i live with smokers and was a smoker myself. I vape now cuz i hate the smell and taste of burnt tobacco. But, if somehow i can get a day or 2 without, ill see if it helps :)

Thanks Robert, every little piece of info and advice is looked at and taken into account. I found that when i was prescibed opiates, grapefruit helped potentiate the opiates, so mandarine oranges may just work. How knows lol its worth a try though :)

I've started keeping notes about how and when I use cannabis. It makes a huge difference.

I would go to the doctor and he would ask all kinds of questions about how much, when did I use, how did it make me feel, etc, etc. I could never remember, and without answers, his advice was what you would read in a textbook. When I started keeping daily notes, it helped me, he was happy, and, if I have questions, he has better advice and better answers.

I've had to keep a diary or journal of medications in the past, so thats definitely not lost one me. Its a great idea and i think I'll get a notebook specially for keeping track of when, how much, the strains etc. All the stuff i could possibly need to make better decisions and get help from a medical professional if need be :)

The following falls into the category of "Don't try this at home kids".

Purchased the Air 2 for myself and the Air for the wife at the same time, and my disappointment was doubly troubling. ;) After many attempts with both vapes and not getting the result anticipated, I decided to experiment. Having experience with a Vaponic, and enjoying the results, decided to take a torch to the end of the Arizer glass stem out of frustration. Never a good thing.

I used a small Honest torch, twisting the stem back and forth like a DV, heating the flower till the outside reached a golden color, then would push it into the unit already preheated to max. My concerns were the glass shattering and the top O ring on the oven melting. Neither happened to me, YMMV. The glass is borosilicate and the O ring has a high temp rating.

Keep in mind that hot glass is dangerous and your Air2 warranty could be voided. Other members will likely offer their safety suggestions like, DON'T DO THIS !!!.

Long story short. Mostly got the thick vapor I wanted with experimenting, but had to repeat the whole in and out torch heating process more times than I had patience for. That's the last time I used those vapes and that was nearly three years ago.

If you decide to give this a try while you're waiting for CP to deliver your DV, I'd advise going to the Vaponic web site and watch the videos to get a better understanding as to what the process involves. Again, only use a small pocket torch as you would with a DV, and work the length of your heating cycles up gradually.

@Bad Dog , much respect my Canadian brother!

Well, i wont try that BUT i did dig out my DC gen 2 and put it on my Istick TC40W mod. Doesnt work as well as everyone says it does on that other istick mod with TC that everyone recomend (forgot the name, my bad lol) but its giving better clouds than the Air 2 ever did. Its easy to overheat, but if i pulse the fire button after preheating, i can get a decent cloud. Def not as nice as a DV but still much better than the bloody Air2 lol

Because i found this, i wont be trying your work around. Plus i dont have a torch lighter atm. I have a propane torch, but thats overkill lol that said, i do very much appreciate the idea as who knows who else this thread can help in the future. Btw, i never even heard of the Vaponic till this lol seems there are some cheaper options to get your foot in the door. Definitely wish i found this forum BEFORE i bought my air2 lol could have gotten it right the first time. But then I wouldn't have had the great convo's with Bad Dog or have this thread with everyone seemingly learning something new eveyday :)

Thanks again everyone. The help has been very much appreciated.

I've had to keep a diary or journal of medications in the past, so thats definitely not lost one me. Its a great idea and i think I'll get a notebook specially for keeping track of when, how much, the strains etc. All the stuff i could possibly need to make better decisions and get help from a medical professional if need be :)
Notes have made a huge difference.

Doctors come in all sizes. Some are good, some not so good. When it comes to mental health, there are lots of people with medical degrees, but not all of them realize that they cannot know everything. Doctors in general are excellent repositories of general medical knowledge. A psychiatrist can have a vast range of knowledge and experience. Pharmacists often have a lot of knowledge about medications and drugs.

We as patients have the opportunity to gather information from many varied sources. We know our illnesses, but treating ourselves isn't the best choice, because it is very difficult to be objective. What makes more sense, is to discuss all this information with a trusted doctor and then together to plan a treatment strategy. Both sides follow up, both sides are happy, and everyone goes on their merry way. It is good to keep in mind that doctors do get called up by their peers and the College of Physicians and Surgeons if they doing anything different than 'the herd'. The doctor's notes, fueled by your notes, protects him/her when the College comes asking "why did you give this guy 30 days of Ativan?"; he points to his notes and tells the College to fuck off.

The scary part of the medical system is doctors who prescribe by popularity. A drug is popular, it is in the news, a drug rep left samples, so it becomes the solution for everything. Those same doctors, probably don't keep detailed patient notes.

Definitely get your hands on better buds, having 3-5 variations to swap around is good too, i have like 10+ mason jars all different buds, indicas, sativas, hybrids

If 1-2 hits is not enough for you, you can start from low temps for flavor then mid temps and high temps it will taste more popcorn ish but much more vapor, thats why evo and and ghost mv1 is good for this, adjustable temps

If you wana blow your head off, newvape extracts very well at high temps and you dont have to use that much buds, enough to cover 80-90% of the screen

Different vapes require different grinders, having a coarse and fine grinder is essential
Best grinder to fill both purposes is the kannastor gr8ter series

For example i like to use coarse grind for sticky brick jr/maxx, mv1, milaana, evo

Fine grind for newvape

Ok awesome, i have 4 different strains atm, all of which im running pretty low on cuz the Air 2 was plowing through weed. Actually it was my noobness doing that and my tolerance telling me to do more cuz i wasnt high yet. I have mostly indica cuz thats the buzz i love, but also a hybrid and a sativa. Just to change it up for tolerance sake. Think i have a gram bud left of the sativa and of the hybrid though. Got about a weeks worth of weed left if im smoking.

I only have the one grinder atm. I dont have much money so when i can I'll experiment with a different one that gives a different level of grind. Figures that every little aspect has a part to play in the buzz. With smoking its so easy, pack and smoke. The air is finicky, hates being over packed and under packed just has material fall out. It also doesnt like to go above 200c without scorching the material closest to the oven. Probably going to sell this thing if the dyna works. I mean, it doesnt work for me so why keep it? Lol.

As always, i really appreciate the tips and tricks. Helps me troubleshoot whats happening a little better. Having no friends IRL that vape, i was on my own before finding this place and @Bad Dog
