I want to equip my Vrod to enhance the dabbing experience. I am considering buying a dedicated bowl just for dabbing. I’m leaning towards the glass bowl. I am also going to get a dedicated glass piece for dabbing.

What are you thought son how to maximize the flavor and dabbing experience with he Vrod?

Also, do temp balls drastically improve the experience? If so, does it matter much between 4mm or 5mm?

Glass bowl I liked, and I definitely think dedicated everything for dabbing helps the experience. I wish I'd done that much earlier than I did. Flower reclaim is very different to dab reclaim.

Terp balls will give you thicker hits at lower temps, but the trade off is a bit more splashing about, the hit being a tad harsher and the same hits can be achieved without them by adjusting other parameters. They do not drastically improve the experience.

If you've got your dish of choice, the VRod is kinda already maximised! :) Tho we are yet to have anyone in thread use the VRod with the sapphire dish.

Next step up is the DCup/sapphire dish.

All of this is IMHO, obviously :)

The Universe is our endless supply
With convection vaporization, since the load never really gets "packed," the major difference I notice between the flowerpot and an old school bong hit, airflow wise, is an old fashioned is restricted enough in draw that it really needs the slide pulled to clear the chamber; with the Flowerpot I can clear the tube without even removing the heater. That offers a very comfortable, open airflow with minimal draw resistance, but that openness does affect vapor density to whatever degree.

It's subjective because everyone has different breath control, but since I like to use the Flowerpot with more oldschool beaker bongs and straight tubes, a more restricted airflow would help mimic the feel of a packed push bowl. I've used the showercap to achieve draw restriction, but on a 45 degree jointed downstem it's not super stable, and adds another element of hot mass to deal with. Lets just say when you have a big beaker bong in your lap, you don't really want a steaming showercap falling off... Been there!

Normally on a typical one hole combustion bowl, it serves as the airflow bottleneck, but since we need more surface area in our bowl for even vaporization of ground herb, airflow tends to increase there. Just a slight reduction in intake size in the heat exchanger would milk fatter at lower PID temperatures, and not place quite as much emphasis on personal breath control ability.

So why not just use a smaller pipe? That's certainly an option that works incredibly well, but after trying many shapes and sizes, I really do like the cooler vapor and nostalgic experience afforded by a larger water pipe. Something that "feels home" about it all! :smug:

Like my grandma always used to say, "Home is where the e-nail is!"
I am very much in the same boat. I often retun to my old-school tallboys. When I first got my showerhead and was waiting for my enail to arrive I practiced carb cappong, heating, and pulling the bowl to clear. Practicing this almost 3handed operation. I was pleasantly supprised to find my best method was to feather the cap to control temp then remove the showerhead to clear. No need to pull the bowl. Definitely a tad diff w the glass bowl. I thought maybe it was just me lol. If it does the job keep doing it. Overall love its a slightly new a varried experience acceoding to the glass I choose. Had a little...actually alot of the GAS before my VAS took over. And I dont mean farts. Glass. Lol. Pretty hilarious I didnt notice but been using a terracotta flower pot base as a stand cause I dint have one yet. Might make a full flowerpot stand for it. Flowerpot for my flowerpot

Hey guys.... just retired my saucer shaped shower cap for a modified version of the original cap that a fellow user here had made. He had more holes drilled into it making 6 in total.

Here is a brief exchange between the two of us where I describe my results:

"No prob. I'm still testing but I think I'll be using this thing a bunch. 30-40 degrees below my usual temp and it doesn't seem to vape much slower than when uncapped. Anything Lower than that and it gets a little slower but also shines more imo.

I'm getting super smooth rips at 575 with no coughing. I actually can tell a difference with this cap where as the other one literally just charred one small spot due to the single air hole and other than that it would vape slower and harsher even than usual."

I never could get any good results from my saucer cap and it was really confusing me when I'd read about people taking extremely low temp flower hits with the help of the cap because mine literally just caused my bowls to vape unevenly, muuuuch slower, and a lot harsher which is the exact opposite of what I expected.
Due to this I've always just used my FP with no cap but the modified cap is working much better. It still Vapes slow and takes more hits to finish a bowl, which is confusing because when dabbing carb caps means less but thicker hits.... however I can now cash bowls at really low temps and am saving my lungs a bunch of pain. I'm quite pleased.

Neither if my small stands fit in my larger stand. They almost do but not like it’s made to fit in there.

Yep, this by Bud so-called 'mini stand' (2:44) is very interesting, I don't need the dish place of my stand for ABV and my Fine Grinder I placed there for a long time unfortunately was confiscated by the police a few months ago. Indeed the mini looks like the DCup Stand Base (3244). And it doesn't fit? @NewVape710 Was it customized just for Bud, Edwyn? If so why don't you offer it for the public as an additional accessory for the FP 6" Safety Stand? I'm sure a lot of owners of the 6" would order it.

Had my VROD out for s spin last night. Set up was:
-VROD
-SIC dNail dish
-dNail comet ball
-dNail quartz cap
-NV glass bowl
-PeliNail v1
-Roor vapor tech bubbler

Got the Terpometer to take temps and tried temping the SIC dish. Had to crank my pelinail up to 690 just so I could get a 520 reading from the terpometer. Terpometer still didn’t show green. It was showing blue at 520. I think 530,or 540 is green.

At 690, two to three hit extraction for a shovel of flower and a rice grain ros. Very effective.

Lowered temp to 650 and it was good. Think 670 might be the magic number, will find out tonight.

Would anyone mind comparing this to the vapexhale? The bamboo broke on mine and I'm considering replacing it for $200 or going a different direction altogether. I've been using the vxl for around 3 years if I'm not mistaken.

I had the Evo 5 months before I got my FP Vrod. When I got my Evo, I thought it was the best thing out. And it IS A GREAT VAPORIZER! I still love my Cloud Evo. But the reason I got the FP is that the Evo has so much breakable glass, that I didn’t want to face being without a top tier unit of my Evo broke as yours did. If you’re considering FP, just get it... and don’t think about the cost. Once you have it, it’ll be yours. And you WONT REGRET IT. DO IT!!! Then get your Evo fixed too. I wouldn’t let that go, no way!!!

Yeah it's only $100 to fix it or they offered me $200 for a new unit with new 3 yr warranty. I was thinking of repairing *and* replacing but now I'm considering where else I could use that $200 bucks. Don't worry about the cost...what are the rough total costs? I tried looking at the web page and got confused. I haven't ever had a dabbing rig. The closest to dabbing I did growing up was hot knifing back in the 80s... ;P

Well, I got the whole shebang for a little over $600 at the 420 sale but you can get away with much less then that. Will have to take a look at the site to give you numbers and can’t now cause I’m at work but if you already have glass, you need a controller, heater and coil, and I would definitely recommend a stand.

I owned an EVO for many years, so can definitely help you in your comparison.

If you're just looking for a flower vape, they are both very comparable imo. Both are high end, top tier vapes for flower, both will leave you satisfied. The differences between them for flower are more preference imo.

Once you factor in concentrates though, the VRod is whole level above the EVO. You can absolutely use the EVO for concentrates, but the Vrod is MUCH better. I believe the use of the carb cap with the Vrod is what really sets it apart from the EVO.

Another factor to consider is using glass with either the Vrod or EVO. With the EVO, you're locked into using a hydratube. You can use a normal rig, but then you're using some whip tubing and adapters. Personally I don't like using whip tubing.

Whereas with the Vrod, you can easily use it with any 14 or 18mm glass. Many more options.

tl;dr if you only do flower, go with whatever you want/cheaper. If you want to use concentrates too, the choice is clear, the Vrod.

Check out their configure a bundle tool to get what you need. Make sure to select something in steps 1-4, the rest are optional. If you already have some glass to use it with, but have nothing else, the total upfront cost is around $350. There's usually a 10-15% coupon floating around somewhere.

For the dish, go with the 28mm NewVape SiC dish. Make sure to get the carb cap in step 3, you'll want it for dabs. For the bowl, make sure to go with the titanium bowl over the glass bowl. You can get away without a stand by using a coffee cup, or something else, if you're trying to cut costs.

I agree...I think both of them perform with flower pretty much equally.

Well, I guess I agree with this sort of....no, I NEVER put 'trates through my EVO. Don't know why I would want to gunk up a top shelf flower vape with something so easy to boil off as concentrates. I just don't do it.

Where we differ a bit, perhaps....is I'm not that big of a Vrod fan. I have used it, I have twaxed with it (but that's a novelty to me...perhaps not to others, but to me), and personally I would (and have) gone with dedicated flower vape and a dedicated e-banger (DCup, 710coils QBs, etc).

None of this means I'm right...its just how I look at it.

Cheers

Agreed, a dedicated concentrate device like a quartz banger or the Dcup will outperform the Vrod in regards to concentrates. I also went that direction, and sold by Vrod. I still have my Showerhead for flower, and by quartz banger and ruby insert for concentrates.

I was just comparing the concentrate performance between the EVO and Vrod.

If you weren't blow away by the concentrate performance of the Vrod, I think you'd be downright disappointed with the concentrate performance of the EVO. Especially since you know what a top tier concentrate device can do!

Me too, brother. And I will NOT sell my SH. Love it.

I run a Liger V2 and 710coils QBs and am very happy with them.

I was looking at the DCup but they are out of stock of Obsidian cups that came from Josh, CCA710, who is doing his usual disappearing and non-communicative act so its not clear if there will ever be another source for them (well, not clear to me...perhaps NV is on to something).

But, I did have SiC in my Liger before obsidian and was quite happy with it so considering DCup with SiC.

Sapphire is too expensive and delicate for ham-fisted ole' me

VROD with SiC Dish ---> Iso bottle with ShovelHead bowl

My buddy just moved out so I don't have glass atm (arriving slow boat from China tomorrow or next few days), so took a quartz 18mm female to 18mm female and duct taped that bitch onto an iso bottle. Plastic heats up pretty good on the bottom when doing dabs (I crank it for live resin) but it's sort of that milk jug plastic, you know? It seems like it'd just melt at the temps that it sees, no plastic taste I can really detect. (Hope this is chill posting, haha, kind of messed up... $400 in vape gear, no glass, effin' silly, I agree). The mouthpiece is too small, with a fat dab of live resin I sometimes get like reclaim on my mustache, haha, it's pretty grody. I've never experienced that, lol.

I'm getting flower within the next few days (I hope), some Purple Punch, not as good as the last Purple Punch we had (different pheno, different grower) but still pretty flame, I guess. I might post a vid once I get the flower and glass in. My buddy took the grinder though, too, so I'm breakin' bud by finger when I have it, I feel like a caveman again. I ordered a Brilliant Cut grinder a few days ago so that will be worth waiting for. Weird transitional phase rn. Saving my avb currently, haven't ever really messed with it (or edibles for that matter) so don't really know what to expect.

So that's a bit of me, but anyways, I'm digging this VROD for sure. 700 with carb cap for flower, about 900 for shatter, 935 for live resin. I can't believe I didn't get the insulated handle for the carb cap when I ordered my kit, I thought that thing was for the bowl. :( And yee gods it's expensive. I might get a slender wooden dowel from Home Depot and chop it down/start drilling a hole progressively larger until I can press it on with friction, the dabber tool sort of increases in width as it gets closer to the carb cap, Idk, maybe it'll work. Has anyone done anything diy for an insulated carb cap handle? Is that proprietary threading? Am I a monkey for not thinking of something super obvious?

Anyway's, sup guys, dig the forum so far.
