AVS m22

I got my bigger, new ESCC last week. Ordered in February, maybe March. So long ago that I forgot exactly.

My initial impressions are pretty good. Installed much easier than the last version. Just snapped it in. Resistance seems much more stable than the v1 too. Unfortunately it doesn't play well with my Pico in temp control mode. But it works really well on my Ravage 230. I don't know if the temps on my mod are accurate, but it's easy to get a tasty low temp hit, or crack it up to lung buster levels.

I didn't order the mod yet. This new ESCC is the last AVS product I'll buy that won't ship within a few days.

I also recently got my TC escc ordered on 4/28. Seems great so far, but I did end up getting a OOS Escc aswell since they were 60. Both of these got to me super quick. Actually
Ordered the OOS around 5, and had it in my hands next day since I’m located in Denver. Was very impressed! So far the device has worked amazing for me on artic fox devices running slickricks profile from Reddit to emulate temperature control, may get the tc one out, but may also just keep it until the mod is more widely available, but not sure if I’ll buy one yet. Overall it seems like a great device for me.

I've gotta say, unless you are looking for low temp "waste it to taste it" type dabs, those wattage profiles are excellent. In fact, I'm certain that's how they achieve "temp control" in most e-rigs. They hit the atomizer with high watts for a few seconds, then back off the wattage to hold the atomizer at a somewhat constant temp.

Slickrick is also apparently coming up with his own Tubo-style custom firmware that will emulate what the official AVS mod can do. The official mod will still be necessary to turn the M22 into a viable consumer device for non-tinkerers. But I'm getting great results with my Ravage 230 in Temp control. Good enough that the official mod is way more of a want than a need for me personally. But I can't recommend the m22 to most people I know until it's plug and play easy to use. The AVS mod is required for that.

Yeah, I was very surprised how well it ran. I got pretty lucky on my TC, with .4 ohms 140 tcr or something, so it’ll work on my artic fox mods, just not really worth getting out for me with how well the wattage has worked. ill definitely get it out at some point, but just not sure if I wanna wait for AVS mod. Hadn’t heard slick Rick was making something like that! Sounds awesome lol I’ll for sure have to check it out. The mods just a bit expensive, but is very comparable to other DNA mod prices so not terrible

After thinking about it for awhile, I realized I am much more excited about the DTV5 then I am the M22. I was super stoked back in Dec. when I placed my order. But since then i have purchased 5 or 6 dtv4’s for myself and others, and couldn’t be happier! Where as i hear a lot of things that have made me question the durability of some of AVS’s products (Mainly the legs breaking on a $100 crucibl.).You know the DTV5 is going to be on point! Not to mention, I’m sure it will be cheaper..... by a lot most likely, and from my experience DT products have proven to be very durable, reliable, and their customer support is top notch. I still want my m22 e-rig, but it’s just not what’s got me the most excited anymore. Plus, as I’ve said before. “I wouldn’t be surprised if i purchased and received my DTV5, (which isn’t even available for pre-order yet by the way.) before my M22 shows up! AVS really needs to get their operation in order or their product is going to fall victim to superior tech before theirs even reaches the masses!

Well I gotta say all y’all that cancel orders don’t know what you’re missing. Had been using my v-1 escc on a voopoo drag2 daily for over a year before receiving my elite kit. The voopoo and v-1 blew everything else I’ve tried away.
The beta mod and new dish is even better than the voopoo! I understand the wait and delays suck, but the reward is beyond worth the wait and aggravation.

Durability is not an issue as long as you’re not a bull in a china shop. Clip changes are easy after a few dozen tries. After mastering install I get 1-2 months out of a fresh set.

I’ve tried DT but until they can actually control temperature, I’ll stick with my m-22 and keep on getting the perfect hit for me.

Seriously anyone who uses extracts any other way is wasting a portion of your product, and almost all your terps! Please stop abusing our beloved plant!!

I don't think anyone is arguing that AVS doesn't have good tech, but it's not available to anyone who didn't order in like 2019. It's a heavy fan boy crowd because of that IMO. These people have been in direct contact with the AVS brass for years at this point, and think of them as their friends (who they give $1000's to). Sometimes it really comes through in their replies across forums. Defensive as hell and always comparing to DTV4 (a straight-forward, drama free company with stellar customer service).

Truth of the matter is, the DTV4 with polished SIC is not that much worse than the ESCC (I've tried both). Yes, the DTV4 (and the upcoming DTV5) are not direct heating. Anyone who gushes on AVS won't let you forget that, we get it. For the majority of people though, that just doesn't matter. All these comments you see about preserving molecular properties of your dabs with the ESCC are completely unfounded BS selling jargon. If you call them out on it, they go nuclear with a bunch of bullshit sources that hit the edge of the dart board and confirm their bias (or they refer to China issues). I'll agree though. Technically, better TC should give a more accurate idea of terp profile being generated off the nail.

However, it is getting the product that is the problem. As a consumer, you see an M22 TC ESCC and are like "man I want that". You order a TC ESCC off the AVS website, do some research, and find out you're in for a 6+ month wait (even though the website used to list otherwise). If you break that TC ESCC when you get it, back to the waiting game. I'm okay with doing this for commissioned glass because it's supposed to be one of a kind, actual art. This is a ceramic part made on an assembly line.

To top it off, they now send AVS branded stickers with their products that say "Better late than never"... Translation "We have your money, we'll get to you when we want." They have their consumer base of rabid fans though. So, they will stick around for a while I guess?

Idk, while I agree they need to be more upfront and figure out the deadlines, I have had nothing but great experiences. I researched beforehand, understood I might be in for a 3 month wait(for ESCC) and went ahead and got one. I already had a deck because I ordered a used one on Reddit. Placed for escc on 4/28/2021 received 5/11/2021. So I will say, the stock they have, and are working to build up is going out well, from my eyes the big issue is the no comments on box mod release seeing as it’s supposed to be end of May. Now we all assume it’s extended, but i can see why with Covid, China possibly trying to use cheaper parts, and them just wanting to provide the product they’ve hyped up so much. On the DTV4/5 I think it’s unrelated and shouldn’t be discussed here, but it looks like an amazing product and I’m sure the price range will be much more suiting to most, but the most advanced vape supplys are bound to cost a bit more lol :)

I haven’t used a dtv4 or really any other comparable device, but I will say I haven’t used my diamond knot much at all since I got this, and am very happy with the product. Got it for portability and was happily surprised to see myself using it all the time instead.

Also wanted to add I’m near where they are located, and my last 2 orders, one of was placed at 5:30pm, went out that night, and I received it the next day. Obviously it’s due to me being located by them, but I was very surprised to see an order placed at 5:30pm go out the same day.

also wanted to say I agree durability isn’t a huge issue, I actually broke the ESCC leg off the one I first received when buying used, but once I got my v2 it seemed to slide right in as long as the clips were put in correctly. (Tabs move) Think the v3 zirc helped a lot as it was a bit easier to keep the pressure even not having to use a single finger to push it down in like I tried to with the v2 zirc.

My experience, for what it's worth (not much tbh).

I'm in Europe so ordering from a European supplier.

Received my oos escc last year. Impressed except for the clips which really are a pita. I've gone through a fair amount and still get it wrong. I understand a new install tool makes this easier but it's still not ideal.

I then received my TC escc. Wow. This is superb. Even with the clips I was in love. The hits were great. Cool and tasty. I thought, this is it.....

The honeymoon lasted about a month. Despite my best efforts to keep everything clean my resistance started to creep.
I would adjust my tcr values and after a few days a clip change was required, which is a stressful operation, especially if you are running low on clips.
This lasted about 2 weeks before the resistance just went mad. Jumping all over the place. So back to wattage and pulsing.

In wattage it's ok. Probably a bit better than my sequoia sic. But it's a lot more expensive and I paid for TC escc, not two oos escc buckets.

The European supplier has been great, actually superb throughout. He is a user and has experienced the same issues as myself (and many many others).
Sent out a new ceramic deck which is better but no help.

We were told we (us in Europe) would receive a batch of the revised escc as upgrades but this has not been provided by AVS. My understanding is they are on radio silence with Europe now.

This has been frustrating as it appears early adopters outside conus have been forgotten about whilst new buyers are receiving the working goods. So my early investment is providing quality parts for new investors whilst we are left out in the cold. Imo this is not how a business should be run....

I'm a bit down in the whole situation but what can you do. I won't recommend this product until they have sorted their products out and provide better support.

However, there are so many fans on other forums that any form of criticism is shot down and buried under an avalanche of hate that rational discussions seem impossible and AVS have little incentive to address those who are feeling frustrated.... Why spend a little effort addressing the concerns of early adopters when you are swamped with new buyers who are not aware or dont care about the issues....

Shame as I so wanted to be a fan.....

has interest in the escc and avs just evaporated due to their inability to meet any deadlines?

its very quiet around here and the avs subreddit is pretty much dead since the new “mods” completely ruined the ability to actually discuss pros and cons. Etc.

Has everyone just moved on to something better?

I love my v2 wattage only ESCC and am patiently waiting for a TC one.

so far the v2 escc is everything I hoped for; it installs easily and clips can be reused without cleaning. The latest zirconia solved all the problems with movement while cleaning and thus resultant issues with resistance stability.

overall, no complaints at all with the v2.

totally worth the wait!

works amazing and easy to maintain and use.

Patience being essential with AVS. I have been waiting for a working (non wattage) escc for about 9 months now. Frustrating that AVS seem to favour more recent customers but what can you do?

Lol you mean how I’m still waiting on the beta mod (which was never supposed to be a beta mod in the first place) thst back in March they stayed are “shipping this week”

Don't get me wrong, I love my 2 out of spec sic buckets. Even on wattage I think they are superior to other portables I've tried.
It's just I paid for an escc last year. My supplier has been promised working replacements for months. But nothing. This is something AVS should resolve immediately.....

In my view, customers who have put money down, and one assumes are essential to cashflow, should now be treated better.

But I am just a mere mortal and such things are beyond me so I continue to wait, a tad bemused but not terribly impressed.....

I've been patiently waiting for my maintenance parts to arrive and have been dealing with resistance problems being very high(2.0+) and never felt like I got a good install. This weekend, I received my clips, new zirconia and I am finally in the zone with this thing on my DNA. Resistance is now solid at .89-.90

Yea, this is pretty neat dabbing tech. Worth it if you can endure the wait, they have something unique. We'll see how long these clips hold up.

How long...? Exactly 😅. Fingers crossed yours lasts. My working escc lasted about a month before it was back to wattage and pulsing.

On my V2, clips seem to last a couple weeks. Then re-setting them seems to give me an extra week or 2 before I need to install new clips. The newer bigger SiC dish makes it way easier to install clips than previous versions.

This is only necessary for accurate temp control. If I wanted to used Arctic Fox wattage curves, I could go months without replacing anything. Using wattage curves feels about the same as the OG Peak or Carta's temp control.

I ordered my set of clips and maintenance parts back in April 2021. I'm on the V1 ESCC. There were some bumps in the road with shipping my package to me, but they have been worked out and they found a satisfactory solution to issues that came up with my orders. I'm definitely in the honeymoon stages with the stars aligned correctly with this thing to work as intended.....I hope it lasts :)

IMO when the CT is out the hype will start to come back maybe. Just think once it’s that all in one device you could recommend to anybody, people will start talking more. Especially considering now if you do just a small amount of research you end up coming up with “delays, broken ESCC, difficult spring clips, and bad customer service” rather than just “awesome device, spring clips a bit hard, but first real temperature control device I’ve ever used, and due to the availability of the device there able to respond often” if you get what I mean. Everybody I know that’s used it has loved it, and I’ve had some people be amazed by how well it’s worked. Truly do believe it’s the first actual temp controlled portable from my bit of research, and I don’t even use it in temp control yet! But I’m a bit biased as it’s the only good portable I’ve ever owned.

Sort of agree with you..... I'm hoping the CT will negate many of the problems but the point is, it was sold as useable with existing mods. I shouldn't be effectively forced to buy their CT to ensure the product works as sold.

I'm really wanting to love my M22 as it is a good bit of kit. I'm just still frustrated with my early investment and AVS not being resolving in a timely manner.....
