AVS m22

You’re inspiring me to try wattage curves with my OOS. My DT V5 with AF hits within 5 degrees of the set temp and (except for product in/on the edge of the cup) is very efficient. So I confess to being skeptical.

It might just be my preference. Believe me I want to like the DTv5 more given how cheap replacement cups are. Everything just seems smoother to me on the m22. Part of it might be SiC over white ceramic.

If you want to try, let me know what version of the ESCC you have and I can get the right curve files for you.

I have been using TCR but from all the reading I have done, it seems wattage curves are the way to go.

I have the V2 ESCC.
Would love the curve profiles!
Also in communication with Stuart on improving performance.

I really love my DT V5! So smooth and easy to use and tastes fantastic. I also love how the resistance does not change as much as my AVS crucible.

I really like the ESCC but the clip install is a pain and the constantly changing resistance is killing me...

Let me know if this link works. The AVS reddit got nuked so all of the posts with the curves are gone.

I use the 6 second one, but I lower the wattage significantly. The "high" wattage is 50w for 6 seconds, then it backs off to 21w for the rest of the hit. I swear a lot of e-rigs don't even do that. They just hit the atty at a constant wattage for x time.

I agree. Though just putting the clips on the legs and spacer and pushing the thing into the deck rarely fails me. It takes less time than cutting wires on the DT. Though, like you said, the resistance stays stable much longer on the v5.

The way I've handled it is... I install new clips and enjoy it in temp control mode. Usually after a week I'll need to pull the dish out a bit and push it back in to reseat it. After another week or so, the resistance will be too high for temp control to work correctly. Then I switch over to the wattage curves. If I get some really good hash in I might install new clips. But I can get 90% of the enjoyment I had with TC using the curves. So I've let it go two months without a clip change.

Also, I recommend not putting as much energy into worrying about the "live resistance reading on your mod. At least on my mods, I don't think it's very accurate. I let the performance tell me when it's time to reseat the dish or move to wattage. Much less stressful.

At the very least, the wattage m22 is a much better and cheaper way to do cold start dabs than torching. $40 for the atty and maybe $10 a year on clips if you're not aiming for perfect temp control. Daily dabbers will spend more on butane.

Blooming excellent posts. I was excited to see some activity here and haven't been disappointed.

I got in on the first (and only?) batch to the uk via rvs I think.

I had the initial oos version which was then replaced free for the TC version as part of the deal.
I then received a third escc cup (free) which was the bigger version and the revised base plate. So I have 3 cups.
I'm currently using the second (thinking that I should save the most recent in case wattage might damage it. Could this happen?). Should I just pulse on the bigger cup?

I have no idea what version of any of them is?? But I'm sure I can work it out.

The first escc worked well for a few months, then stopped. The most recent works for about 2 heats then stops per clip change).

So I just use wattage and Ive got quite good at pulsing. Still use the M22 every day.
I grab the dtv5 every couple days just cause I can. I think it's brilliant TC and so simple to use.

But imo the M22 is better, even with my pulsing. It's a really great device if you are aware of it's potential short comings. I think the price currently for iOS is a deal.

But I'm really interested in these curves so will have an experiment.

I've come to accept that without the mod I will always struggle with TC.

And I'm now at peace with this.

If I can ever get and/or afford the mod then great. But until then I will keep pulsing (and hand the DT v5 to mates as it's so simple) and try these curve suggestions.

Thanks again folks. These posts are really useful to less experienced folk such as myself.
Just to add, a kindly member a few months back did offer to help with curves, forgotten who, but at the time I didn't feel confident and didn't take advantage.
Having recently installed af and profiles on my new second mod which I've now configured to my liking and then dumped onto my og mod so both are identically set up for my 3 atomisers I reckon I can do this!).

Thanks again. I shall be experimenting shortly so I may have some questions....

Hey I'm running out to a meeting, but can definitely help you figure out which SiC cup is which later today. If you like pulsing the m22 I bet you'd love the wattage curves once you get them dialed in. I just double click the mod and go.

Also important to note: I take most dabs dry through a glass tube. That's when I notice the most difference between the v5 and the m22. Through water, the differences smooth out significantly. I just like the taste (and imo effects) of dry dabs.

I also have the V2 OOS. I’ll check link you sent later today when I’m home. Thanks a million

Download worked!
Now how do I load this onto my AF mod? This is where I am confused as it is not juts entering the numbers in the correct boxes.
Would you have a link to a tutorial by any chance?

I tried the link but couldn't open.

The link should download a configuration file for Arctic Fox. If you don't have it installed here's how:

So if your third, most recent SiC cup is bigger than the other two, that's the V2. The wattage profiles are technically made for the V2, but if your other ESCC works in wattage it should still work fine. You're gonna need to play around with the starting wattage either way to dial it in.

Now how do I load this onto my AF mod?

I think after you connect your device to your PC and open NFE Tools you press the "Configuration" Button, then open the downloaded file, then "Upload" to the mod.

If you need to enable auto fire it's under "Controls" then "Multi Click"

The control tower is now very close to being done. Excited. Taken a while but the custom anonization they’ve done as amazing!

If I'm not mistaken, the control tower is close to being done for long standing pre orders only. After that, the M22 Control Tower will become more akin to a Nomad or P80. Long waits. We're still probably a while from being able to order one and have it delivered within a week or so.

I think they are making more units than required for preorder so theoretically some people will be able to get units with the only wait being shipping. After the initial stock sells, I do think it may be something similar to that

From your lips to god's ears. Because I put the ESCC back in my M22 after using the DTv5 exclusively for about a week. That energized SiC really is a cut above white ceramic. I just want to use it without constantly worrying about the resistance.

Another benefit of the ESCC over the v5 is it's more suited for on the go use. The SiC does make the housing hot...but not dangerously hot. It gets to temp faster so your hit is done faster. Less heat will radiate out to the atty housing.

Yes, since I received my M22 (high ohm, the low was and rest too expensive, even the high ohm version is borderline in term of price) it's my favourite dry dabs device paired with its stocm mp or with the Herbie V1 mouthpiece I don't use, this one is my fav cause the added length smooth a little bit more the already smooth vapor. DT4.0 rest my fav for water filtered dabs and I appreciate the best control of the T°, the M22 in power mode is more intuitive but I found my sweet spots: 3s power on to melt the dab, stop, 3s preheat before to start to inhale and 3s to draw after you released the button, this is my Triple Three Trick and it works perfectly with the wax I have (most is what you call "sugar", a few are a little more runny though, all bho since I have my M22, only does Rosin occasionnaly and when I'm closer of the harvest date, so no Rosin since a while for me).

With both devices in my rotation I didn't powered my enail more than once or twice in 6 months, I still think it perform a little bit better but, for ease of use, the combo M22&DT4.0 is a lot more convenient. As well I think I appreciate the cool-down when you released button and temp climbs down, this is avoid some harshness the constant heat enail provides (at least my cheap one). And occasionnals torch dabs for sure!

Do you have an Arctic Fox compatible mod? There are wattage curves that emulate temp control pretty well. About as well as most e-rigs.

Yes I have a Pico and Eleaf Aster, I know they are compatible although I don't think my Uwell Nunchaku and Voopoo Drag+ to be compatible.
Hi, where can one get those curves?

Edit: found the link in previous page, sorry
Thank you for the info!

Ok, I started playing with the curves....
Right now my go to set up was an M22 base, with DT V5 and a Jet Stream top. It works really well for me.

I have the wattage only M22 cup. I had tried it but I did not enjoy the pulsing thing and tbh I was not very good at it when high.

I can see that the wattage curves, when dialed properly, can deliver a good experience similar to TCR. I started playing with the 6 seconds one, but the settings are super high for my liking.

Turn the starting wattage way down and work your way up. The "high" part of the curve is basically about twice the wattage of the "low" part of the curve. I also found the built in starting wattage too high on those curves.

My starting wattage is usually set at about 20-22. That puts the highest part of the curve around 32-35 watts. Much better for low temp dabbing than the stock settings.

Anyone hear of any updates on the control tower? Been a while since the last update and the website still says they will ship in August, but seems unlikely since we are almost half way through.

Also, is it safe to put my ESCC in an ultrasonic cleaner? Thanks!

NO! Back in the day I did hear of people doing this successfully. But also saw some people break theirs. If you want to give it a deep clean, I'd suggest a little warm Dark Crystal cleaner. Don't ISO it first. Just drop it in dirty.

You haven't missed too much on the control tower front. I think they're testing the circuit boards or something. But I'd guess at least another month.
