I'm curious about why so many people put screens in the bottom of the bowl. Are you grinding your bud fine? I just pack the coursely ground material in the bare bowl and don't experience any leakage thru the holes. It also seems like the screen would limit conduction. Hits seem potent to me but I am not as much an aficionado as many posting here so I may be more easily impressed.
@MedicatedPensioner ,
I grind my bud super fine after it has dried out a bit from my curing containers.
I also pack my load down pretty tight.
I use 2 fine mesh screens, cut in an oval shape slightly domed upwards, in order create a gap between the bottom of the bowl and the load.
This allows air to flow through the holes and evenly come up through the load.
If I don't do use the screen, the holes will be plugged up by the fine grinded herbs.
I also use the a fine mesh screen at the top of the bowl right at the glass filter, domed downwards.
Using these screens allows my load to be vaped uniformly.
When I didn't use these screens, I noticed an uneven vaped load.
Also, the glass filter, inner and outer glass stems would get filled with bits of herbs.
The key factor for me is the fact that I grind very fine and I mix my unpressed bubble with my loads also.
By grinding super fine, I'm able to pack a lot into the bowl, and with the bubble mix, a load can last me up to a 3-5 sessions.
This is very convenient when I'm on the go since reloading is kept to a low frequency.
To each her/his own....
I recently read someone's post in here and tried their absolute opposite extreme method of simply packing in a fat nug into the chamber.
It definitely tasted much different.
I've tried course grind, medium grind, hand torn...
My love for her is unconditional.
She adapts to my situations.
No wonder my wife is so jealous!
