@FrogDR I'm no battery expert but I don't think there is any way to change your own battery in the Ascent. You would have to send it back to the company for battery replacement. It doesn't use regular AA batteries.

You would void your warranty if you tried opening your unit up. I would contact Davinci and see if they can help you with that? The battery when new is only about an hour or a little more of usage.

Do you know how long is warranty of Ascent ? I buy my unit on the www.vapefiend.co.uk
They said there is 2 Year Manufacturer's Warranty. This is 2Year warranty on all Ascent or battery have shorted warranty ?
And how long guys do you must charging your Ascent to get Fully Battery Indicator ? My never was full even after a hole day of charging :/

@FrogDR Maybe there is something wrong with your battery indicator? The battery should last little over an hour on a full charge depending on a lot of variables when it's new. If you think there is something wrong with your unit contact the vendor? Don't settle for something that isn't working properly.

Try unplugging and plugging back in

Try holding all 3 buttons down simultaneously for 7 secs

This will reset all functions to "default"

Had a seizure while using my Ascent this past Sunday, it took a flying leap onto some concrete. It is little banged up, a few pitted dings and a bit of plastic from the "latch" came off but from what I can tell nothing related to it's functionality is broken (none of the glass is even scratched). I have run several sessions since then and it seems fine. I wish I could have prevented it, but even cannabis cannot stop all seizures.

Hey Frog. I bought mine about 9 months ago from my local Grow Shop and it worked great until it started to not hold its charge. I didn't mind too much as mostly I vape at home and can plug it in to the mains. But one day that didn't work so I took it back but of course, it worked in the shop! So, I struggled on with it working intermittently until yesterday when it finally gave up the ghost. I took it back in its original box with most of the accessories thinking it would go for servicing/evaluation and take months which is a bummer because I don't smoke - only vape. The guarantee is 2 years but only 90 days for the batteries, which sounds totally unfair because how's it going to work if it won't charge? Anyway, the guy in the shop is a top bloke and gave me a new one - says he's confident the guarantee will cover replacement!! I'm not so sure but I'll cross that bridge later on. In the meantime I've got a brand new, fully functioning Ascent :)

All due respects bro, but I'd say the strain + amount vaped has more effect on highs than loosely or firmly packed bowls. Also, I reckon finely ground offers more facets to release compounds and should be more efficient although really finely ground will result in sucking up flecks of herb - the little meshes help a bit but get churned around unless the chamber is fully packed which mine seldom is. Finally, I think low to high temp is definitely the way to go releasing different compounds during the session or in the course of several sessions. Max temps with fresh herb give a full on high which is great but your herb is toast after one session.

I will be anxious to try out the new spacer. I haven't heard of a price tag. Hopefully not more than say $10., but I wouldn't know what something like that would be worth. Did we hear if it's made from glass? I try to keep up on this thread.

I love trying out new accessories with my vaporizers.

There's a lot of talk about spacers and I agree it would be useful for small loads. What I can't understand is people recommending using the glass oil jars as spacers. These are fully closed at the bottom and fit snugly in the chamber. Surely this would prevent/limit vapour passing through to the straw?

Hi all,

I'm thinking about buying an ascent after 2 years with the magic flight box but have a few questions which I'm hoping to get some help with.

1) Do you need to use the whole chambers worth of herb each time? What I love about the Magic flight is you can take one hit and leave the rest for later. Is this the same for the ascent?

2) How much leakage of vapor is there? I like to take my vape to the movie theater which I use along with the smoking buddy to blow vapor out into. Can I still do this with an ascent or does any smell leak out of it?

3) How is the hit? Does it have any effect on how tickly it comes out?

Thanks :)

The Ascent has an oven that is constantly on, whereas with the MFLB you can control the heater with the battery. The biggest distinction other than the Ascent always being on is going to be the temperature control. While it will always vape your herbs, you can control the temperature at which you want it to do so. So for movie theater smoke buddy situations, a low temp on the Ascent should prove itself discreet enough for you for sure.

For multiple sessions with one load, you can use different temps. You can start really low at around 340-350 (some people will even go lower) for a few inhales then turn it off. When you want another session just bump the temp up 10-15 degrees and you are good to go!

Hey guys, I've had my ascent for a little over a year now and it had been working great. Good flavor, nice clouds and everything. The last couple of uses have been less than great because its been burning my herb. Like I'll set it to 370 and left it warm up with my herb inside. After it hits the temperature I'd take my first hit and instantly I coughed so hard I thought my lungs on fire. So I checked inside and my herb was pitch black and all it took was 3 mins and 1 draw. I was wondering did anyone have this happen to them because I've never heard of it.

There is a 2 yr warranty on the unit. I would send it in for warranty. I would contact the vendor, no sense in burning up good $ and medicine.

Yes send it back!

I'm wondering if it's not a report of the last failure mode we didn't encounter: we've heard the charger jack wires failing (won't charge), we've heard the bowl wires failing (turns on but won't heat), now is this the sensor wires failing? (won't regulate)

@smokeydabear : just by curiosity, could you tell me how much you opened the bowl lid usually? 90°? Full 180°? Less?

@smokeydabear sounds like something went bad. I would absolutely send it in for warranty service.

I remember reading at least one other report of a similar situation (though I think that person didn't have their Ascent for very long before the issue developed).

I usually open it 90 degrees. I've heard about the issues with opening too far so I make a effort not to open it further. I've already sent back for service and they've had it for 3 days now, I'm just hoping I get it back soon. Its one of my favorites for sure. I just wanted to put some new information out there because I haven't heard anything about this issue.

For muti session loads:

I've been using a 20~30/80-70 mix of bubble/extra fine ground bud.
I use extra fine mesh screens both at the bottom of the bowl and right at the stem screen.
I've shared this picture in the past of the bowl screen (I hope some of you folks implement this):
JZtIvz7.jpg

So what I do for my multi session bowls is:

1) Turn on the Ascent set to max temp.
2) Let it heat up to mid way, then start taking ultra slow hits.
This seems to allow the load get uniformly warmer quicker because you are helping the heat pass through the load. You're also getting the effects and flavor of the low temps.
3) Once it hits max temp, I let it rest there for around 10-20 seconds then take one massive draw.
4) Turn off the Ascent
5) Take about 3-4 draws which depletes the load and bowl of the vaporizing temps/heat.

By using this technique, I get around 2-4 sessions out of a bowl.

So I have been rotating thru vapes and landed on the ascent. My love for the ascent is still there. I like conduction and my 2 conduction vapes are pax and ascent (both great with small inconveniences). 80% of my vapes are convection and I enjoy the punch in the face conduction gives you (drawback being using more herbs)

Carol, I have recently been using the 14mm gong from da Vinci. Since it has no screen built in, the ascent screens for the 14mm gong are so small and I don't know how to use them. Any suggestions? So I have been leaving in the bottom half of the glass mouthpiece and put my 14mm gong on top. So instead of using the top half of the mouthpiece, I substitute it with the gong (so I have some type of screen).

I like the screen on the picture above as a final solution, but would like to use my 14mm gong with water. Any help in using the 14mm gong from ascent would be greatly appreciated.

@mixchu69 Hi there. That picture above is a screen wedged above the oven right under the mouthpiece bottom end. I wedge a screen also similar to the pic. I took a picture of it some time ago. You can buy screens anywhere online, even Amazon. You can cut them down to fit whatever vape you are using.

Good luck with that. Here's the picture again.

That's pretty much how I roll too except for step 3) where I'll usually take three or four hits. I only use an itsy bitsy 'lil pinch of herb so it's practically all used up after that - I'll occasionally get a second buzz later off the ABV but mostly nothing happens so I'll throw it out and reload.

@Ricardo,

Awesome man.

ABV is like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're gonna get.

Recently, I prematurely ate a load of what I thought was spent herbs... but there was more decarbed goodness left in the ABV than expected... man was that ever fun... it gave me memories of "high"school.

So, I've just had a thought about how to get more out of the Ascent. The general consensus seems to be that it vapes better when the chamber is fully packed, but that's probably too much herb for many of us vaping alone. One of the criticisms is that the ceramic chamber takes time to cool down, wasting herb in the process. What I'm going to do next time is fill it more than I usually do, vape as much as I want and immediately tap out the ABV which should cool down much faster at room temperature. Then, at the next session give it another grind, maybe add a pinch of fresh herb to top it up and there should be more active components than just leaving it to sit in a hot ceramic chamber. Any opinions?

Actually, @KeroZen would disagree with you. The Ascent works best when the load is compacted to a medium-density. This is recommended for any conduction vaporizer. It doesn't matter if you load the oven full or not, as long as the load is compacted.

Many of us use the glass flowers to help fill the void so the "load" doesn't shift around, but it isn't required.

One of the criticisms is that the ceramic chamber takes time to cool down, wasting herb in the process.
All conduction vaporizers will cook the load while the oven is hot, not just the ascent

Typically, when I shut off my Ascent in the middle of a session (low temps for daytime, save the high temps for evening). I will take 2 or 3 draws from my Ascent while the oven is off. This will quickly drop the thermal temperature of the load below the boiling points. I have had no issue re-using the same undisturbed load using this technique

vape as much as I want and immediately tap out the ABV which should cool down much faster at room temperature.
Eh, I don't know how much faster this would cool down the oven.... Although emptying your partially ABV and grinding it would help increase the vapor production on the second session.

@Davinci_vaporizer has mentioned that they have made a glass spacer for the Ascent. They aren't available yet, but they should be soon. I know I have several items I want to buy on the website, but going to wait until those spacers are released.

Many of us have tried that, including some variations, IMO you should too if you're inclined.

I think you should also try the glass flowers, they can give higher production (more vapor) from smaller loads (obviously for a shorter time.....). From a heat standpoint it's still a fully packed bowl, in fact better because of more surface contact with hot glass (the flowers are as hot as the oven). You can fine tune it a bit so you put an amount of bud in closer to your needs for the session as well.

No, I didn't mean the oven would cool down faster - that's not important, I'm interested in conserving as much potency as possible in the ABV. :)
