Yep - just power it off and back on to return to manual mode.Once a vape cycle has started, how do you exit it and go to a random temp? Do you have to turn the oven off? The whole system off? I'm not using it right now but it crossed my mind
Power off the whole shabang or just the heater?Yep - just power it off and back on to return to manual mode.
The whole thing... the button on top next to the mouthpiece. When you turn it back on it will be in the default normal mode. If thre is any other way to exit the programmed sessions, I don't know about it, but I don't think there is.Power off the whole shabang or just the heater?
I love my ascent, but the reason I like it is actually opposite of your desires. I wanted a portable with a big bowl to have a long 20 min session. However, I tried with smaller amounts and it works great too. I use the glass vials for small loads. Dump in some flowers, put the vial over the flowers (take off the black seal), and vape. Some ppl suggested using glass flowers to fill up the empty space.
Don't expect anything with concentrates. The glass vials don't do the job. Instead, make a flower and wax sandwich. I know this product received a lot of criticism, but this is one of my favorite vapes. Also, you can program the machine to alternate heat settings. But one thing I learned from this community is that everyone shares and give insight on maximizing the functionality of your ascent.
I bet if you go back 25 pages or so and read forward you'll find this covered at least twice. I know for sure at least once in the last 5, since I (along with others) contributed.
There is no "best way" that fits all owners, nor perhaps even most. You need to try different techniques to see what suits you best. Guidelines are the best you can hope for.
You should also pay heed to how it works. Very small loads on the bottom of the bowl are basically useless (I get it that lots of guys will come back '.....it works fine for me') since there's no heater there (it's in the walls). The maker has confirmed this. This is a conduction vape (despite what some might say, he still thinks it's conduction.....), meaning bud has to touch something hot, the walls are, the floor isn't.
The other (IMO) important insight is the glass lining means heat will transfer in slower than it's removed by the hit. Hitting it cools the load off fast, and in some measurements I made over 100 degrees F. That definitely ends production. This lead to the glass flowers idea, which IMO is well worth trying. Not only will it give you 'bigger hits' easier but will do so with less bud.
Like I said, pour a cup of your favorite beverage, prop up your feet and do some reading, it's all there many times, but you really need to educate yourself and experiment.......following 'canned' advice is not the way to get the answer you're asking for.
Regards and best wishes. IMO well worth the effort.

Mine shuts off while I'm I'm in motion I thought so to as long in motion it does not shut off. I press the menu the + here and their inbetween draws seems to stop the shut off also set my vape cycles to one set temp and max the time on each you get a lil more time out of cycle think timer is 20. And all 3. Vape cycle = 30
I'm not at all sure we're interpreting "motion" right. At least not the same as the author. That is I'm not sure there's an accelerometer in there to sense motion. Extra expense and calibration issues I'd think. How do you separate say sitting on a moving car seat from a stoner watching a movie?
Rather I think 'change' makes more sense? That it 'it shuts of XX minutes since the last change'. It should be easy enough to sort out with a few tests, but my first one (setting a time to shake it every 5 minutes) didn't stop shutdown so I decided it didn't mean what I thought and stopped testing.
When I've got a few hours where I'm doing something else keeping me close perhaps I'll try it (setting times and temperatures to lower levels probably), if someone else doesn't do so first?

Having limited engineering background ,me thinks designers put '"any"' position as motion unless horizontal/ vertical mode ~ there must be a thermocoupler or something that utilizes A.I. ( artificial intelligence ) ~
@ OF ,forgive my ignorance of any politically incorrect nomenclature
Could be. Such 'electronic levels' are broadly classed Clinometers. They tell you, for instance, how close your ship is getting to tipping over..... Many accelerometer sensors also provide this information as well. But I'd think they'd have the same separation issues?
This too should be easy to test for, and making the timeout short can make the testing go faster.
No need to worry about terms, we're communicating just fine. In fact I'm probably more in danger of losing readers than you......

Hum if I go that high on mine it will roast it almost black with a bitter taste N I usually start 355 for few hits those are the tasty ones the climb to 375 380 ish. Not often I got beyond 375 All depends on moisture vs oil content
2015 why are their such junk sensor even in the machine I'd like to see the ascent stay and have it evolve with add convection longer internal sleeve that holds the lower stem so it insets into the top stem by by air leek just tweek it and take all the criticism you can complaints make for better products and better solutions
I don't need to stir my herb inside the Ascent. I use the glass flowers.
