wait..... since the herb has already been cooked, does that mean you can eat your vaporizer duff and get lifted without having to infuse it into butter?
Yes, but you will get the farts.

Can someone help me and confirm if the Davinci Ascent car charger will allow for use while charging?
My bowl will heat up while plugged in the wall charger.
While it is plugged in the car charger, the battery indicates that it is charging but the temp won't go up.
When I disconnected the car charger and cycled the power, it heated up fine.
Plugged it back into the car charger and it stopped heating.
Any similar experiences?
Absolutely. Mine won't go past around 247 F or so. I was rather ticked off about it, as I had hoped to use it but couldn't.
@Purrito Purrpants
Thank you for confirming your similar experience.
I guess we'll need to use them for charging only and not for while in use.
Very misleading information which led me to purchase it.
I will connect my wall charger to the car DC to AC inverter and let you know how I make out.
Should work, because this is what I do with my Pinnacle PRO.
Do you own a car AC inverter?
Thanks again!
So I don't have a factory car cord, but I've got the same thing I made up from parts. It too makes the required 9 VDC from 12VDC aside from other things. I just broke it out and did some playing. This is what it looks like, the voltage converter is the part at the bottom, the top part a charging controller:
Understand, Ascent can't tell the difference between electricity from the wall (through the wall wart) or the car (though a car cord). Honest. And as a boss I once had was fond of saying, 'never argue with electrons, they know what they're doing.....'.
What I found is if it's charging I can't start heating without stopping the charging. Charging stops automatically. If, OTOH, I have it heating and then start charging it keeps heating fine and also charges without indicating it is on the display. My rig shows this charging is happening.
I suggest you try that. Start it up on battery, then plug in the charger and ignore the lack of charging indication.

Sooo started using my Ascent heavy again. It sat unused for a day after a pretty big sesh with friends the other day.
I went to turn it on last night and it won't heat past 77 degrees, and only went to 77 from 69 by me blowing into it...
Do I need to make a warranty claim? If so how do I do it I live in Canada and shipping a used vape back to them strikes me as a bad plan...
My battery was close to dead, though. It only showed that it was charging and would not get to temp. I will try it again when the battery has more of a charge. Seems like I read that someone else had this exact same problem way back in the thread, though.
Hey guys? Is it normal when you're vaping herb for there to be a small sizzling/cracking sound? I can only hear it when I put my ear up to the device.... but i notice when I was vaping my herb after a few draws the amount of vapor started to lessen, and then BAM the next draw there was a huge amount, after the machine had time to warm up. (it feels hotter after a while in my hands, not sure if temp gauge is accurate). Anyway is this anything to worry about? I used it twice since its done this and i'm still alive... It almost sounds like a mini hard drive, or maybe its the screen running. I'm confused lol. I only hear it once it gets into the hotter temps like 396 F... and then after about 5 nice draws at 396 suddenly i'll start to exhale large amounts of vapor... am i just reading into it too much?
You're not going to die. Both my Ascent and Pax crackle and hiss like crazy with some herbs, particularly those that have a good bit of moisture. It scared the bejeezus out of one of my friends, though.
You new guys don't know how to have fun. Back in the days when seeds and stems were sold at pot prices mixed in your lid, "fireworks" would liven up the joint when a seed popped like popcorn. Half the guys on campus had tiny burn holes on the front of their favorite shirt........
You guys who've never had the 'seeds and stems again blues' don't know how well off you are. Or what you missed.....

Do you think the crackling and excess vapor towards the end of the session is much to worry about? I have some top grade herbal product this time with a bit more moisture in there, so that could be it. Maybe I should chalk it up to paranoia?

With my car charger, I can't get pass through power. It recharges but you need to disconnect it from the charger to use.
I believe the refurbs have an r in the model # or serial number. Where's @Ratchett when you need him?
I guess the concern for me is that the vaporizor might be starting to vaporize itself... which could be a lot more harmful than organic plant matter, to be inhaling components of the machine. Maybe I should chalk it up to paranoia? the sound is there sometimes when the bowl is empty but the excess vapor isn't so at least i know the vapor is from the herbal product... but what about the sound? it doesn't make it as much when its empty, but i donno. it sounds like a little computer runnin. lol.
Lol, yeah, I think they add an R to the model or serial number on refurbished units
From what I understand, in the USA, there are only two models - 1AA1 and 2AA1 (the discussion over changes made without updating model numbers is still in question. I personally am under the impression there have been no changes to the design since the 2AA1 update.)
Yup. But the jar lids and the ss are both made to handle the heat. If you want only glass vapor path, don't use them.Hi, I've searched here for info on using the included screens, but couldn't locate on this thread. If you place the screen (or the oil jars with the rubber top) aren't you ruining the glass on glass path?
