Yes. The draw is pretty wide open. You still need a nice slow draw for the thickest hits, but it is not forced on you like the Solo. You will probably draw at the same speed, just the Ascent trains you to do it whereas the Solo forces you to do it with a milkshake type suck.

I've never used one. But it's less restrictive than Ed's stem, which is less than the original Solo stem.
I've just been comparing the bent turbo vs. Ed's wood stem: somehow my brain is telling me that, when both are planted firmly in the crucible, the wood stem actually breathes better for me than the turbo does. I don't know why this is. I'm actually tiring a bit with the tight draw that the Solo affords all stems, no matter the design of the stem. Looking forward to a Solo V2 and an Ascent...no more milkshake draws!

? Ed's will draw easier I think because the walls are thinner then the glass so there is more air coming through and for some of us to much.
Now for the ascent...I am so bored waiting that I need a new vape. Stick's said the draw was really easy so that will be good. I am sure the improvements will be good as well but I don't know if it is a good vape for me unless it is in my sticky hands. Off to shop as this won't be out for a long time.

I hear what you're saying...but I don't want to work that hard at making love either. I tend to think that continued future innovation and evolution of these devices will bring about greater control, efficiency, and ease of use in all areas, including draw. I trust that the Solo will provide even better experiences in future incarnations, particularly in the area of draw effort. Yea, I think I get it: slower (Solo-choked) draw=denser vape - fact is, I want it faster, thicker, and easier, and will patiently wait for the technology to deliver it in stealth, hence, the Acent;-)

Lately I've been shopping for my 1st portable vape and narrowed the choices down to a Pax and a Solo. Then I found out about the Ascent.

interesting that you can get bits in your mouth if you don't use a screen, so if you do use one doesn't that ruin the glass on glass experience?
i thought with vapes you got to grind as fine as possible, so if the guy is getting chunks in his mouth by grinding big pieces aren't you not getting the best bang for your buck?
interesting theory about the smell though, maybe that's what the pouch is for, to cover the bottom airway

As far as I know only one person has reported getting debris in their mouths from the ascent, the others haven't experienced this. The ascent does have a glass screen on the bottom (where the bowl heats up) and it sounds like the metal screen goes near the top of the device near the mouth piece so it wont really be exposed to any heat, so it shouldn't render the tasty any less pure.
Edit: Also, from my limited experience with vapes, I believe it depends on the heating source of that vape whether or not you want finely ground herb in it or not. Some vapes use convection, some use conduction. Most portables use conduction. The Ascent is secondary convection, I have no idea what that means, though.. haha.

1. All glass == easy to clean. The two glass stems are removable. [READ: ISO-soak if that is your thang.] The only "issue" is the glass-lined ceramic bowl, which is not an issue as it is glass-lined, but because it isn't removable. (nothing a q-tip and a little work won't clean)
2. The "screen" on both the top and the bottom of the oven area are both glass with holes in it. As you can imagine, due to both the material and manufacturing, a certain hole size and a number of holes are practical. A wire screen can be made more fine.
3. Grinds are best left as discussions for other threads, but keep in mind that too fine a grind actually impedes airflow, regardless of device. There is such a thing as "too much of a good thing." Sticks has actually tested tossing a nug in there.
4. Pouch is for keeping key and pocket-change scratches off the device. Although it can limit the odiferous nature of the device to some degree, that is not its function.

Could anyone who's lucky enough to already have an Ascent speak about the "real world" battery life? Perhaps also a bit about the efficiency, i.e. how much herb the Ascent uses to get a similar effect compared to other vapes? I did some searching, but couldn't find any info...thanks!

Since they manufacture for other companies, it's possible they make this brand and just mistakenly got this ad linked to the wrong model. One humorous response to your question has already been removed. If others feel the need to discuss/joke about it, the Lounge thread is the place to do it. We'd rather not lock this thread until the Ascent is released, but that is an option, due to all the chatty off topic posts that continue to be made.

Longer story: The company that makes the Ascent cut their teeth on e-cigs. That's a template page that needs to be updated for a different product.

btw, I mentioned awhile back that while I much appreciated the second place prize of a 100 dollar gift certificate for that contest, that I would probably never use it and that it should go to the third place winner here. I don't think that has been announced yet as to who that is, but I just wanted to make sure that my suggestion wasn't misunderstood as to mean that I would pick who that winner would be for the prize that I won. Dreamerr thought it may, so that's why I just wanted to make sure that people are not waiting on me.

If you have the code and won't use it you should hold another contest of some sort for it. I know that $100 off would def help me out in replacing this PuFFit.
