@ kingofnull, How well does this fit on the Solo... I talked to someone from Pinnacle and they are not too familiar with the Solo... This was their response:

If you were wanting to get the 14.4 micro shower water tool you would also need the pong adapter which is included with the water tool. The pong adapter is the mouthpiece that the water tool rests on top of. This pong is at a little bit of an angle because it is meant to fit flush with the pinnacle I do not know exactly if the pong adapter will sit flush with the Solo, I am not sure how big that gap is between the joint and the solo itself.

Can u give me a little info on how well the two work before I make the purchase? Thanks.

True enough, but be sure the stem is cold before you install them, these guys are normal vinyl and don't deal well with heat. You can order a bag of these guys:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/119/3747/=mnn1fv

instead. They're high temperature, a little harder to get on and off but you can put them on a hot out of the Solo stem without any problems (and drop it into your shirt pocket without worry). M/C will also sell you the normal version for under a nickle each ($4.50/100).

I admit to sometimes putting my MFLB caps on a hot stem that I plan to finish later. Then I drop the whole package into a PV travel tube (a la 2L bottle form). They have stretched a tiny bit and go on much easier and it makes it very travel friendly. Think there is a serious health concern doing this? How cool would they need to be to mitigate any risk? Thanks as always!

Still diggin' the o-rings!

Yes, wanting to be able to do that got me to buy some of the high temperature versions. The spec on the standard ones from M/C is 140F max for 10 minutes. IMO very easy to exceed. Hot water in the sink is often hotter than that. Being 'cold enough to touch' (or even hold on to) isn't enough I think. The high temp versions are 430F for 10 minutes, way safe in our case.

The high temp caps are stiffer, and harder to put on cold, but they're rated for the job. The observation yours are degrading is significant? The safe bet with them is 'not until it's stone cold'?

Glad you're enjoying the rings, I was messing with mine this morning.....

They experienced an initial stretch, but do not seem otherwise degraded. My concern was that they must be off-gassing a bit. That said, I figured that after removing the caps again for the next go-round, the stem got more than enough fresh air exposure to be safe. Any potential health issues? Never noticed any taste variance...

I don't think it's valid to think nasty stuff that boiled out would just 'go away' rather than condense in the stem or load (as 'wand hash' does......) waiting for the next heating cycle.

Let me put it another way, do you have proof that intentionally exceeding the ratings is safe? Otherwise, since there are proven safe solutions I'll pass on this risk, minor as it might be, since it's avoidable. I was going to make some caps from high temperature Silicone tube and PTFE plugs, having bought the half inch PTFE rod, I might anyway? For now, if you want to cap hot, I recommend using a hot rated cap.

Planning on purchasing the Arizer Solo tomorrow. Is there anything else worth purchasing along with it for better usage?

You've made 2 good decisions: buying the Solo and coming to this excellent forum. I like using 1/2 inch screens in the stem.

Hi,

I've recently purchased a Solo and love it more than my other vapes (SSV and MFLB). I've just received the Turbo PVHES thingy and there's a small chip on it. It doesn't bother me but I'm wondering if I should be sending it back in case it gets worse. If it's nothing to worry about then I'll just keep it.

You can see the chip at the end of the stem here:

sendsb,
Thanks for the help...

Just wanted to make sure it fit properly & would I need anything extra like adapters?

You definitely want a 14mm GonG. I've currently got a 14mm Turbo PVHEGonG and a regular/standard/'stock' 14mm GonG/non PVHE GonG. I've also ordered a stubby 14mm PVHEGonG (non-Turbo).

I 'downgraded' back to my standard 14mm GonG when I realized how whispy the vapor from the Turbo was. Of course, the regular GonG isn't as easy to draw on as the Turbo, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Hopefully the stubby PVHES (non-Turbo) will be a balanced solution.

The only issue I've experienced to date is that the PV GonG are a little wobbly in my Solo, which makes it feel less secure with the PN WT on top.

edit: I just received my #113 silicone o-rings, which tightened the fit on the stems. My regular 14mm GonG now has a slightly more restricted draw, but its not really an issue when pulling on the little PN WT. The upside is that the Solo + PN WT now feels like a solid unit. The wobble I was experiencing before has been eliminated.

I love the PN WT with the Solo. It feels - dare I say - Cloud-like, with the above modifications. I haven't really used it too much out and about but it's easy to use one handed, just clear the chamber with a large 'sip'. It's not by any means a 'milk monster', but with some technique it's easy to cloud up the little WT. That said, this is a tasty little piece, flavour really shines through on lower levels, and it provides just the right amount of diffusion/cooling to eliminate the occasionally harsh vapor the Solo outputs.

Get a replacement. It might be fine now but it will only get worse with time. If all that's said about planet vape is true then you'll have no problems.

I would definitely contact them about returning/ replacing it. that area is subjected to constant heating and cooling so it could get worse over time. that chip could lead to further breakage or worse possibly inhaling tiny glass fragments as they chip off.

My friends call me "Menz"
i have a solo and a pinnacle WT. i have a PVHES Turbo 14mm GonG and its kinda wobbly and i will admit i have been "scanning" and not "reading" the Solo thread lately. now all this talk of "o-rings" makes me think i have ALOT of reading to do to see if i can fix my wobbly GonG issue. :( :( (feel free to PM me anyone that wants to help me save some time and summarize what i need to know about "o-rings")

my real issue with the Solo and my Pinnacle WT is that my GonG end (not the bowl end that is in the solo heating chamber) sticks to the inside of the WT so when i need to seperate the two to clear the tube. i have to place the solo on a flat surface. with one hand grip the WT and the other i have to hold the GonG by the "points" that stick out the GonG and then twist the GonG a bit then i can pull up on the WT to seperate and clear the tube. i wish it didn't "stick" like that

^^^ Yep me too thats why i ordered a carbed Solo gong.

And definitely send them a PICTURE of the stem.

I clean my stems in a bottle with ISO just stems no screens.
I poured it out on a ash tray about 9 inch round.

This is what i got out of it

Thank you for the replies :) I'll send the stem back. I also purchased the standard PVHES and I love my Solo even more now using it. I'm getting much more vapor with it rather than by using the standard stem which surprised me as I thought I'd get less.

Thanks... I will go with the Stubby PVHES (when they are back in stock) btw can you please put up a link to the O-Rings so I'll know exactly where/what to get... I've tried to find it on here but with over 500 pages of info it's like finding a needle in a haystack lol... Thanks again!

The o-rings came up in the last 50 pages, that cuts down the search doesn't it? ;)

Agree with Yoshi it is in the last less then 50 pages although this thread moves fast. I suggest new people start reading backwards at least 20 pages and then the way you feel comfortable forward from now almost 600 is a lot and you will get a lot of old info on the first models.

For those getting the PN WT is it coming with the PONG? If so I suggest contacting some of us that own a PN because I know I would want one or two.

Menz if nobody sent you a PM on your question I am going to summarize here since we do have new members.

A few members have come up with solutions some better then others to fix the wobbling stem issue. Long ago it was said to use o-rings but now we seem to have a better size I think since I don't remember the size of the old one. Clicker tried washers as well as some of us who he sent the to. They worked great but the stem was hard to put in and out. Then OF finally gave in and got a solo and we got a great person to play around and be on this thread. Don't tell him I said any of that.:) So he came out with high heat safe #113 o-rings. Since they have to be bought in bulk he gave them away to a bunch of us. Then another member did the same thing. Woohoo to FC members:clap:.

Now as far was you WT issue you can do two things. What I did was use it one handed and did not pull it down hard on the solo stem. I was using the regular stem but it still made that hard gg connection. The other thing maybe a piece of silicone might help but I still think not pulling it all the way down is best.

Now I think I need a gg stem even though I hardly use water lol.

Welcome all new members on this thread. I am glad to have you here.

Last I had heard, Stubby pieces have to be custom ordered from PlanetVape, which adds 10$ to the cost of the stem. Luckily, this "reserves' the stem for you; no rushing to order it before someone else grabs it!

Here's a 5pack of ORings off Amazon which I'm using with great success.

Has anyone ordered from Kustom Kulture? http://www.kustomkultureshop.com/
They have the Pinnacle Hydro Tube for $99 Canadian with free shipping over $100, which would be the cheapest way that I've seen for Canadians to get it.

Also, how do you know when the stem has been used enough to make hot chocolate?

I'm thinking of picking up a Solo to go along with my SSV. Is there anything I should be careful of or know be for placing my order? I'm going to be purchasing from a authorized retailer as to insure I don't get a fake/knockoff.

I don't think anyone has come across any fakes or knockoffs for the solo yet. the biggest concern about ordering from a place that isn't an authorized dealer is getting warranty service for the unit should you need it. if you order from PV or puffitup make sure you use the correct discount code so you aren't paying more than 160.
I would make sure the model number is at least m106 or newer but if you order a new unit from a n authorized retailer thatwon't be a problem (m105 runs a little cooler and older than that had ceramic coated.bowls that ttend to chip but that doesn't affect performance.
