The first time I turned the unit on it heated up to heat level 7 very fast so I decided to time it ... took 37 seconds from cold. ... no visible vapor whatsoever no matter what draw method I used so I brought the unit up to level 7. At level 7 I was getting light wispy clouds (no matter my draw technique) and the ABV was coming out light tan.

I decided to time the heat up time and it is now taking 1:13 to reach heat level 7 and I am able to get nice hits on all heat levels and dark ABV on heat level 7.

Interesting. It does confirm, I think, the link between start up time and temperature? There's just no way it can magically make the same temperature in 1/4 the time.

I still maintain that this is confused by new owners, several of which have come back, but that's not the whole story. This report brings an interesting idea.....why should there be a change? Some physical change in the heater (temperature sensor loose kind of thing?)? It's possible, I guess, the software gets hung up somehow and eventually gets sorted out. AFAIK there's not EEPROM or other scheme to store data in power downs, the unit stays on full time and only seems like it's shut down. Removing the battery makes it forget the stored step level to go to and I think defaults back to beep mode?

One thing sure 'problems that go away by themselves come back by themselves'. This is not a good feature I'm thinking.......

Thanks for the additional information, glad your unit is working right.....no matter how you got there.

I have an M1B1. I'm no longer getting the Power tone when I turn the unit on. Anyone else have this happen to them.

I agree there shouldn't be any kind of change unless something physically changed on the unit. However, I guarantee that if you had tried the Solo before and after you wouldn't believe it was the same unit.

Edit: and I'll keep using it ... hopefully your theory of 'problems that go away by themselves come back by themselves' doesn't come true in my case

To me the only logical next step is to take up a collection for OF to get a new unit to tear apart.

Where do I send my $10 donation?

Alright guys here are my observations after about a week with my "defective" M1C1 unit:

The first time I turned the unit on it heated up to heat level 7 very fast so I decided to time it ... took 37 seconds from cold. After a few "burn in" cycles I loaded up a stem brought the unit up to heat level 5 ... no visible vapor whatsoever no matter what draw method I used so I brought the unit up to level 7. At level 7 I was getting light wispy clouds (no matter my draw technique) and the ABV was coming out light tan.

I haven't had a chance to send the unit in to the seller this week and I kept reading people like OF saying that this was probably inexperienced vapers (which I am not) getting the hang of their devices so I have been trying to use it every night and I have been getting the same results all week.

Last night when heating the unit up to try it out again (was about to send unit in Friday and wanted to test it up until then) I noticed the unit was taking a looong time to heat up. I decided to time the heat up time and it is now taking 1:13 to reach heat level 7 and I am able to get nice hits on all heat levels and dark ABV on heat level 7.

Seems like a lot of others have been noting the same issues with units acquired recently so my advice (for what it's worth) is if you have a unit that you think is defective (heating up too quickly and never reaching temps high enough to vape) try running your unit on level 7 through several battery charges and see if you need to "break in" your unit ... can't hurt :peace:

Very interesting. I wonder if this is why there seems to already be M1D out there. I know numbers supposibly mean nothing but we already have someone with a M1D who had an older model and notices some differences.

IDK if it's the new standard , but it's the situation with mine. Appears to be my original charger so I'm thinking they've changed solo itself.
Guess their trying to keep up with the PNP?

I wish I had held off for a few weeks to grab my Solo for so many reasons ... and you've just added one

Hhhhmmmm ..... my Solo works in PA mode with the stock charger too :brow:

Wouldn't have even thought to try it had you not posted

Am I out of the loop here people ... is this a new standard?

Edit: At least as far as I can tell it's in PA mode. The charging light is flashing while I am vaping with it plugged in

What model do you have?

Same as michaelstone if the unit is plugged in I don't have to push both buttons ... just press the up button to what heat level I want and it heats up. And the charging light flashes during the whole session.

My M1C1 does this too. Next I'm going to run it down to the second light and try this again. Let y'all know how thing go. Just looked at the bottm of my charger and it doesn't say 9v and 12v, just 12v. Now I looked at the manual and it notes not to use with charger so I'm afraid to try this again LOL.

I check out my manual that I got with my m1c1. It says you can't charge it and use it together. I'm tempted to try plugging the solo in and using it. I'm scared it will damage the battery. Those who have the new m1d1 does your manual say its ok to charge it and use it at the same time?

Wont damage the battery just try it. If its on and you plug it in it worse case it will shut off. Then you can try hitting the up arrow nothing happens on my M1A when I do that it just shows charging

go wild buddy boy knock yourself out

here's a hint. it'snot like it won't let you do it because it doesnt want you hurting the battery? it won't do it because you don't understand voltage ;):lol::D

naw but seriously look on the bottom it tells u the diffrent voltages it runs at.

every couple pages some1 doesn't know about the voltage thing and ends up learnin a little bit about how electricity works when they are disappointed the solo cant run at 7.5v and 12v simoltaneously :wave:

2 any1 who mite b concerned still

does this ABV look cooked enough for u??????

Just tried it and it works!!! Both the green and red are flashing . I can move up and down in temp setting. This just put the the solo in a very special place for me. This is awesome.

the M1C1 will definitely let u do this where other older ones didn't. but i would seriously think arizer would make it well known if new model solos were capable of charging and heating at the same time???

i will do this with my solo. i will see if its actually just heating off battery. i will run it like 5 time and unplug it and plug it back in. see if the battery meter is like hafway down or if its still at or very near full. i will post bak with my results and encourage other M1C/M1D owners to give this a shot as well

Is the Solo really doing a passthrough, or is it charging the battery while it is discharging?

If it is passing through, that is very cool. If it is charging while vaping off the battery; then that is going to be very bad for it. I do not recommend doing this if you want your battery to last.
