Just sittin' here with Solo and pinnacle, taking a break at work, nobody around.... watching the Solo II thread bob up and down, (ha ha, yes, like that!), while good old Solo goes to page 2.
Solo II, Solo II, Solo II! [As in Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!]
I just discovered cracks running across the bottom of one of my Solos, the one that I think is about a year old. It isn't chipped out at the corners, but a crack runs along the side from one screw to another, and more are branching out from another screw.
I have a similar issue, my Solo seldom leaves my home, I've never dropped or mistreated it, I've been good to it and its been good to me, sure after near 3 years and countless sessions the battery isn't lasting as long as it once did however all the screw hole have broken away allowing the insides to slide out whenever you attempt to put a stem into it.
I wish my SOLO would fall apart so I can buy a new one! 3 years is when I change a battery pack.I have a similar issue, my Solo seldom leaves my home, I've never dropped or mistreated it, I've been good to it and its been good to me, sure after near 3 years and countless sessions the battery isn't lasting as long as it once did however all the screw hole have broken away allowing the insides to slide out whenever you attempt to put a stem into it. Its rather annoying, the base plate is part of the actual chassis the solo is built on so there ist much I can do. I will take a pic and put it up when I get to it tonight. I wish it was just a separate plastic plate like a battery cover I could have just cut out of aluminium with my cnc, I have a friend who works with plastics and even he is reluctant to attempt a repair
That looks like good work, did you program that into a CNC milling machine? It doesn't look like it would fit into a charging dock, but not many people have those anyway. I have 3 Solos, but the bottom is fine on all of them so far, no chips. I tried them, but don't see the need for any 0-rings and don't screw the top on tight, so hopefully I will never need one of your inventions, but thank you for offering them. Seeing people willing to help others out of the goodness of their hearts is reassuring. There were a few people on here who had broken corners on their bottom plates so did any of them contact you? If the add-on model is legal maybe you could buzz up a batch and make a deal with Arizer or one of the authorised dealers to offer is as an after-market fix.
I made a whole due to the unwillingness of the company Arizer. I wanted a replacement for them. They did not give me anything. They did not attempt to solve it.
I wouldn't feel slighted or singles out, you're several years short of being the first Member to ask and get told that same thing. No chassis plates for replacement under warranty or sale. IIRC, Arizer even posted on this web explaining that loose seals and cracked bases are not included in the warranty, they consider the units to still be functional.
I was one of those that contacted them to buy one in fact, which is why I started messing with SS flat washers and epoxy.
In a way, they're now 'locked into' that policy. Having refused to replace units for others, if they were to suddenly decide to change that and give some late comer the service they'd denied others.......guess what happens next? I see the policy consistent, as it should be, even if not how some owners wish it was.
Glad you made a back up plate, a couple of guys have already done this for their personal units but AFAIK nobody is offering it to others?

Yes I respect your opinion. I'm not the goods claim. I wanted to buy a replacement plastic and replace it myself. Was not possible. Complaints were also not possible. I respect it. But I can not expect that this will I praise. And buy more.
Perhaps you missed it, many of us also tried to BUY that part. This is old news. They don't sell replacement ovens either, as I recall a guy broke his and someone (like Vitolo?) gave him a used one from a scrap unit.
There's also a hidden serial number issue (since it's on that part). Replacing it with a new one without the original S/N makes is contraband (assumed stolen in most/all states). Not legal need for a S/N to begin with, but if the maker puts it or any other 'identifying mark' on the unit prior to sale nobody (including them) can remove it legally. They would have to replace the label with the same number or void it out and reissue a new one. I doubt that is a major factor, but it's exactly the kind of thing the Lawyers come up with to trump otherwise good plans.
My point is not that it's their call to make, but just that they don't sell those parts is very old history, hardly news. Like them or not this was known long ago. Too bad it will sour you from buying additional Arizer products, most of us consider them excellent values and performers.
Good luck with your next 'better vape' buy.

There is this OLD movie: "LOOKING for MR. GOODBAR", that reminds me of your dilemma!next time I try something else.

@OF your always full of wisdom!Ah, yes, the eternal conundrum, how to spot 'Mr. Best likely to happen', before 'Mr. You could be OK', and what can follow.
There's a fun classical logic problem, now a bit dated, but the idea is sound. It's called 'the Rhine Problem'. You're taking a long awaited train ride down the river, a truly spectacular ride past hundreds of the finest castles you'll ever see. For hundreds of years guys would build a castle, stretch a chain and go into the duty collection business. Some on rocks in the river.
You're there, ready, with your trusty camera and.....one frame of film..... Ooops. So the problem is how do you have the highest chance of a photo of the best castle on the ride? To make it work you need to know how long (time or miles) the trip is. When I was in school we wrote programs to explore this. IIRC the winning strategy was to put the camera up for something just over 1/4 of the trip, then take a photo of the next 'better castle' you see. Fun idea, IMO.
The same thing used to play out in teaching evening classes sometimes. "Adults" can be mighty casual and some seem unable to tell time reliably. Most come to learn, skills they need. So the question becomes 'how long do we wait for the stragglers?'. My rule was to go 5 minutes, or 3 minutes past the last latecomer, then start the class and not look back. Rude of folks to leave others hanging, really. I'd also, from time to time when there were less than normal, let it slide for say 10 minutes, then close the door write the date on the blackboard and declare a pop quiz. For ten points put down your name and the correct date and hand it in....... Usually once was enough for that one. Didn't ever have to explain what 10 points was worth, or ever get around to putting it in the book, but the word got around.
But yes, it's true there are better fish in the ocean.....and also better bait?

I saw on here someone who posted a pic of their replacement base and it was metal or aluminium with all the holes in the right places. Looked really neat.
I'm in Aus too and I have a 3 or 4 year old original solo and my corners are slightly cracked but not so bad as the insides slide out. I've taken mine away to many places and use it outside etc and it's still not really too bad. I changed the battery on mine and it's still going strong. I bought newer silver solo a year or more ago just incase my original black solo ever died. I still mostly use my black solo.
but next time I try something else.
For me @OF I will just get a other SOLO.I just 'got' what was bothering me about the above quote (yeah, some of us are slower than some of you other guys....). "Next time I try something else" might make a fun tombstone, no? More fun than the normal ones (AKA the ones the straight people pick) anyway.
