Arizer Solo

If it's this, you don't need it.

This was for the old style Solo. You could use the old style Solo while plugged in with this PA. Now with the 2014 Solo it already has that feature.

It's probably too expensive to send it back and get your money reimbursed.

I can't think of any use for it @Bravesst. Voltage is wrong for both Solo and Air. The low current makes it useless for even the older Solos in PA mode. (Needs at least 3 amp.)
If it's charging your Solo, it is border lining doing so. Likely take longer to charge..??

Glad you're enjoying the units so well you forget what you ordered....lol

It's actually a large unit with a power tool gauge cord to plug in and what appears to be a solo jack coming out. It's about 6 x 3 x 2 inches, and has some weight. I can't uplad pics now, but will later.

@Pipes me too!

jack just fits solo, lights came on, I pulled it right out, but it lit it up
Musta got it on some vape website or ebay, gotta check email receipts

With the size being that big and input current at 1.5 amp, are you sure it's not 5000 mA (5 Amp) out and not 500 mA? That would mean you were thinking of the older Solo's in PA mode...? Just a thought. This is the playstation supply ratings.

Or it could be a linear (rather than switching) supply with a transformer?

One thing sure, that's not the right supply. CK is right, you want 12VDC (not 8.5) and one Amp (1000mA) not 1/2 an Amp. Although some Solos draw .6 to .7 normally charging, .5 Amp might be marginal enough to hang in there? Hard to say what it's supposed to go with, but it's not a Solo charger.

DOH! 5000mA @OF @Pipes
The great battery mystery of 2015, anybody?

Would using the older Solo PA with the newer model work? I mean, would it prevent the Solo from charging and instead provide pass-through? Even on the older models with the PA, the battery would leak slightly, but it was still a healthier way to use the solo on A/C than the current "charge and use" models.

Well that was simple, looks like you got the wrong Solo supply (you have the PA for the old style, not a charger).

I'm sorry, I got lost, what's the battery mystery again? TIA

Not really. When I tried it I got some lame charging (IIRC it stalls out about step 5 or 6 after a long time?). The new ones don't 'pass through' all they can do is charge the battery as you're using it. With new models you want 12VDC at an Amp.

Looks like an Arizer Extreme-Q power supply to me, Gentlemen...
Edit: Looks, but is not... That one seems to be 19V DC

Yep, same with the one I saw a while back. Looks to me like Arizer decided to use very common (widely produced.....read 'cheap') laptop power supply. This is also what Vapman did for the 'ill fated' Power Station.

This clever idea saves costs so the makers can offer us cheaper prices on the unit (and easier/cheaper replacement supplies should that be needed).

Got an Arizer Solo for 40 Bucks, yeah!
Only thing is it has an defective loading part, so it charges only in some positions so i guess it has a short circuit somewhere.

Going to open it ut the next days and have a look, hopefully i can fix it!

Great score, congrats.

I smell a broken solder connection on the PCB (or broken connector). Good luck with it, please let us know how it turns out?

TIA

I'm using a solo for 1 1/2 year now thanks to all the info i found here, you are the best, it has to be said !!:love:

Vaporization, and the solo have helped me tremendously to manage my chronic pain and get rid of other drugs that were really bad for my stomach and full of side effects. I feel much more in control of my pain than before.

Anyway, thank you again to all of you contributors

Awesome the solo was my first solid vape too after Fucking Combustion, my first one was the OG davinci, and like I keep writing on here it's still going strong. Glad the community was able to help you like it helped me.

This may help. You can see where I had a solder break and had to fix it up.

I'm a self taught guy. When I made captain, I was the youngest captain on the FDNY. I think intelligent, self aware people rock. The sheep suck. Maybe I'm a little blunt, a little "brooklyn", but you guys have some good info and can explain to us laymen. That's the thing about being smart, not thinking you're too smart is what really matters. Geniuses are usually assholes. Again, all kiddin' aside, thanks @OF, @Pipes, and I can't forget the lady, @CarolKing the for the amount of over the top info that has made me a bit of a vape expert (a very little bit, I use that term loosely) in a few short months.

Great photo, thanks Pipes. So good in fact I can see you didn't use enough flux.........

I know, 'it ain't pretty but it works.....'.

OF
LOL, that was actually before I was done. More solder was added and ISO washed afterwards to remove the excess flux. That pic was after first dap to mix new with old solder and then wicked back off to see where I was at. Just reheating old solder usually fails down the road.

I don't know about you, Pipes, but I think he has us confused for two other guys?

OF
@Bravesst confused...?
Well you know he does order stuff and doesn't know what for?

Yer very welcome, thanks for saying thanks?

While I'm not really sure about Pipes (and who can really be?) you're spot on about the Lady I think. First rate folk, great resource. We're lucky to have here, the world can sure use more like her........I don't suggest we share however?

Thanks again.
