So my question is, what benefit (if any) would I gain by checking the planetvape site every day and grabbing one of these $25 GONG adapters? Is it a more solid connection, better airflow, bigger hits---what is the advantage?

I think you hit two of my thoughts on the matter. A proper connection means a better seal for less of the dreaded dilution (you'll note folks condemning vapes like Ascent because of 'air leaks'). It is, of course, also more stable.

However, the 'point contact' (where the stem contacts only in a very small area) means the glass is under extreme stress at that point (all the stresses being concentrated there) rather than spread over the entire ground surface of a proper GonG connection. You should expect chipping or other failure from continued use.

As an interim use (until you can get a PV GonG, Ed's stem or other robust connector) I suggest you wrap a couple rubber bands on the end of the stem to form a seal and protect from uncontrolled glass on glass contact.

GonG connections are the 'industry standard' for good reason, IMO. The extra cost is justified......the 'out of stock' situation is unfortunate but reality. BTW, don't over look the 'carb' versions, it's very easy to block the hole (I'm using plumber's tape on mine).

After a few emails with Arizer support!it's 5 dollars for a new lid,she said I shouldn't be taking the lid off and on and It's not a warranty thing....

It is routine for me to remove the lid for cleaning debris
that have gathered below the lid .

I have a question for users of the fancy GONG that never seems to be in stock over at planetvape:

I have a water pipe with a 14mm glass downstem. I put the stock factory glass wand on my Solo, inverted it, and lo and behold, the wand fits perfectly into the downstem, and I am taking delightful water-vape hits, with no additional equipment.

So my question is, what benefit (if any) would I gain by checking the planetvape site every day and grabbing one of these $25 GONG adapters? Is it a more solid connection, better airflow, bigger hits---what is the advantage?

They offer a better seal to attach to your bubbler .
I think it's worth buying , but you're correct .
You can get away with using some form of DIY
silicone or O-rings to give you a better seal , if needed .

Your water pipe looks close to mine..is that the stem of your solo in the downstream in the water? You pulled everything out then put it down.I never though about that for an awnser from Arizer,do you change the battery from the top to?

You can't see it from that angle , but there's a
carb hole at the back , right above the water level .
Where I can plug it with my thumb and remove it
to clear the can .

I love the Solo...

can't believe folks are jumping on an aluminum bandwagon....

gimme the Solo anyday!

What is this aluminum bandwagon? Did I miss out?

I love my Solo too, i've got a little more testing to do with it comparing to my e-nano, but I think it's very close to becoming my favourite vape of all time. The taste is always flawless for me it seams, even on temp 5 or 6 (sometimes, depending on cure) and the vapour and clouds are always consistent, with even perfectly brown ABV. I mostly use the Solo with the EV adjustable basket gong, and i've been experimenting with different depths of the screen and sizes of loads.

Of to do some more testing. Just not having a wire attached to it is so nice it's incredible... I love having a portable desktop vape. I can go anywhere with it inverted on my bubbler!

Okay but does the stem from the solo the only downstem in that?

Yes it is .
But I've tried it with a 14mm downstem also , and it works .
The point was to use O-rings or cut-off silicone mouthpiece tips
to provide a better seal . Until you get the PV Gongs .
O ya , and rubber bands will work too .

Okay I see what your saying buy using the o rings for better seal!I was just wondering because when I put my stem in my downsteam in only went in about a inch or so!Not to stable That's a good ideal with the seal!

has anyone a S&B Mighty vaporizer who is willing to compare it to solo? (and report back)
it seems no one in the Mighty thread is......

there is a review on reddit who compares a crafty to the solo, but that's a bit different.

Everybody is in the honeymoon phase over their new S&B devices over in those threads. Some are comparing to the Volcano. The battery on the Crafty doesn't seem very long. I have heard around 30 min battery but everybody is still testing theirs out.

It will take some time to see how these two devices compare to the longevity of the Solo. S&B a very good company and these two units will be around for a while I'm sure. The Mighty looks pretty big. It has the longer lasting battery. You can't sit it down on a table and have it stand up I here.

I'm content with my Solo. The Crafty has peaked my interest, but am still on the fence. The price is a huge issue. I've been saving for the Herbie.

Chahooo my first ever vape (the arizer solo) has just arrived. It feels really solid and is alot smaller than i expected. Could have sworn i ordered the black version but it came in silver... but i aint even phased cause this thing looks and feels amazing. Just about to head down to the shop to get an adapter for the charger (didnt even cross my mind). Looking forward to using it tonight. :peace:

Don't forget, medium grind lightly packed to under the rim of the stem, and it's normal if the bent stem swivels!

I saw the S&B Mighty vaporiser and didnt think much, dam expensive and made of plastic were my first thoughts, ok it has an lcd screen and who knows the solo might get one some day but its more a gimmick i think. The problem is when someone layes out $400+ for a vape they are not gonna be shit canning it even if it totally useless

Using that logic, people who own a Cera Titanium, Cloud EVO, Herbalizer, Sublimator, VB2, etc... only use their vaporizer because it was expensive

finally going to fuckcombustion and buy my first vape. I have my eyes set on solo but i need some info before choosing which authorised dealer to buy from.
I currently have two options; buy from eBay and have some money over for a scs 3 piece grinder or buy from a domestic online dealer and forgo my grinder. I currently have a aluminium no-name 4 piece grinder which gets the job done for combusting but a general consensus seems to be that fine grind gets more out of your herbs by vaping evenly. my question is thus how big is this effect with solo? i know from reading through the net that a few of you don't grind at all but i thought it would be best to ask before deciding, thanks in advance!

Unless you can find a Ebay seller that will honor the warranty, I would go with a domestic online dealer like PuffItUp. There are a few domestic dealers that are sponsors here and offer good discounts and great customer service. I used a no name grinder until I got my SCS 4 piece. It got the job done IMO but I find the SCS to be a real pleasure to use.

I found one, but I live in europe which will probably make it expensive to ship it back and forth if i had to exercise my warranty. i can imagine it being a joy to use! but have you noticed any difference in taste or something else that might effect the vaping experience? if not I'm probably going to skip it for now and buy one at the beginning of next year.

I get best results using UNground flowers in my Solo. (I do own multiple grinders and use them for other vapes.)

I find if I grind too fine then I end up sucking some through into my mouth. YMMV.

Sorry, didn't realize you were not in the US. As far as the SCS, I have had it for a while now and honestly couldn't say if I noticed a difference on not when switching from the no name when it comes to vaping experience. I do find the SCS spins easier and IMO get gummed up far less than the no name did. I have never cleaned my SCS since having it and it still spins as freely as the day I got it.

I'm sorry, but I don't think the OP is saying that at all. Please reread what he said. TIA. I read it as 'if someone has paid $400 for a vape they are not as likely to abandon it (and throw it away) as a guy with $80 invested might'.

I see nothing at all to support the idea that the only reason for owning and using big bucks vapes is because they cost a lot. I think folks own and use the vapes they do because they thing they're good values to them. Purchase price no doubt plays heavily in most decisions to buy, but I really doubt many hold the view 'this must be a superior vape since it costs so much'.

That is, I agree with what I 'take' the OP to say, guys are less likely to pitch out a Cera than an Atmos.

We can agree to disagree with what the OP said. Sometimes things don't transfer well in writing.

thanks! but just to be clear, cause I'm kind of new to the terminology; UNground herbs=nugets? or just not fine grinded?

don't worry about it! i should have been more specific :) thanks for giving me first hand experience with both the solo and scs, i feel more comfortable buying from the domestic retailer now.
