Greetings from Alaska's Matanuska Valley. 1st of all, I LOVE my Solo, but it took several returns to finally get it right with the (M1T****). From what I have been reading in this post regarding Arizer's customer service, I was compelled to post. I have been thru 5 Solos that I purchased on Ebay, from a factory auth. seller, thegolfmiester. I have never had a problem getting a quick, no hassle return from this guy, and would recommend him to those looking to buy one. I did however have to pay 6 bux or so to ship it back, but oh well. If you want a good deal and great service, I would check this guy out. Just my 2 cents,... over and out.

I got mine yesterday, and it is no glitch. I am running a stem at 6 as we speak, and once it heats up the only, and I mean only time the heater kicks in is when I draw on the unit. Even then, it might flash 3 times, at most.

If you understood how the heater in the new version works you'd know why this makes no sense.

First off, it's an indicator only, it's not actually hooked to the heater. And it doesn't exactly follow power to the heater like it used to.

Now, when the light is off, there's actually something like 2/3 full power flowing. To repeat that in other words, the light is off and battery power is being sent to the heater. Unlike before.

There really is nothing magic going on. The 'heat load' (thermodynamics term) is basically the same (no big changes in insulation or other factors, so the heater much provide basically the same power over time it ever did. Which is why you get the same number of sessions per charge from the same battery as before. And why 'time to good vapor' is basically the same, even though the lights behave differently.

That light doesn't mean what you seem to think it does. Power is being used differently, but the total is still the same and set by the physics of the unit. No magic.

I never said, nor intended to suggest that there was voodoo, Wicca, or any other kind of magic going on ;). I was merely relating that in my experience the unit behaves the same way, with the heater LED barely lighting up at all, so as to assure our good friend @biohacker that there is nothing "glitchy" going on with the unit they possess.

I have edited the original post for the sake of clarity.

If you understood how the heater in the new version works you'd know why this makes no sense.
How very presumptuous of you, unless you are some sort of omniscient being, who is gifted with knowledge of my understanding of the world around me.

Smokin, Welcome to FC. Most of us are Solo fans, we want everyone to know the joys of owning one. You are from a very famous area. Some very good herb originated from your neck of the woods.

You have very bad luck with Solos. I don't think I have heard anyone going through 5. I'm glad you had good customer service. You are a real trooper to stick with it.:leaf::peace:

He taught electrical fancy pants classes for a while, tore open his Solos, ran experiments with thermocouples... I'll take his word for it

So I've had the solo for 6 days now and I've used it countless times. I vape every couple hours or so throughout the day and I love the hell out of it. Today I tried eating some AVB (love the taste) although I'm not sure if you should only semi vape if you wanna eat it. But let's see what it does.

It has nothing to do with taking anyone's word for it, but the fact that no human being can tell what another complete stranger over the internet is thinking, feeling, or aware of. A conditional statement was made in the form of "If you understood how the heater works". Go around telling people you meet in the real world that they "don't understand what they are talking about", before even trying to understand it yourself, and see how far it gets you in life.

Making 10,000 posts and owning a thermocouple doesn't give anyone the right to throw common courtesy out the window because they cannot personally understand what someone else is getting at. This isn't about being right, or wrong, it is about the fact that I was told that I don't know what I'm talking about based on the accidental omission of a single acronym from a sentence, in this case, "LED". I suppose because I only have 100 posts, and 200 likes, I haven't yet earned the right to trample upon people trying to lend a hand, and tell them what they do, or do not think, feel, or understand.

Is this forum here to help people, or to take on the "holier than thou" attitude when a member tries to come on here and assure another that their unit is not "glitchy" and is performing optimally? Even after correcting my post I was told that it still isn't clear enough, but the post putting a bunch of words in my mouth still stands, and I'm still being berated for something I never even said. Here I thought courtesy was a two-way street.

EXACTLY BROTHER, I use this guy and he rocks, 129 to the door for a black version,I have 3 from him one for a friend and 2 for me. The new one I have is so much more refined, but both work great. Had a bit of an issue with one but a reset brought it back, soon I will buy a stronger batt from another poster here, forgot his name but here is the web site http://vapepower.ca/ sounds good to me, I will look into that soon for an older M1A unit I have, but spot on with the golfmeister, good guy, good vendor highly recommended to those looking for a great deal.I see them going crazy over the VAPORMAX for a 100 bucks and Ive been over there telling them for 30 bucks more you can have one of the best portable out there. To each his/her own, but common sense is hard to ignore when looking at sub par junk for a few bucks less,IMO its best to go the Solo route:nod:

thanks @PoisonousHydra for confirming with your new Solo experiences that it mirrors my new one. Is yours an M1Y as well? Your Solo IS behaving EXACTLY the same way. I do kinda understand where OF is coming from regarding no magic, so this basically means that the Solo IS heating, even though the LED stays off? I still think it's magic LOL Because the heater SHOWS it's on ONLY when there is a bigger need to heat (such as drawing on the stem, blowing into the bowl to cool it, or maybe a prolonged sitting idle and it will blink a few times).

OF, do you think this is a glitch? Or is this just basically the new norm? Or is Arizer STILL tinkering and perfecting these?

I definitely notice a snappier software....big improvement...the unit powers down quicker, and even the tone sounds a bit different.

I've really been digging using the o-rings too to keep the stems snug. The thinner ones from PV still allow a "rock" to the stem to choose whatever airflow you like. IMO the PVHES are redundant with the newer models and I would prefer to have LESS airflow now.

Is there ANYWHERE that still sells the bent 2 hole stems? PV used to but I don't see them stocked anymore, although i'm sure they can make them. Going to order a finer screen than the standard one I have now as well.

Never thought i'd ever complain about too much airflow with a Solo! lol

While I can't put words in @OF's mouth, I believe his "makes no sense" comment was not directed at you personally, @PoisonousHydra. I do, however see how that comment can be seen as dismissive and condescending.

Let's give each other the benefit of the doubt here and not jump to conclusions about intent. OF has only spent a few years on our planet and he's still getting the lay of the land. He's mastered the language fairly quickly, but I hear that his home planet is not yet satisfied with his understanding of the social interactions between us humans.

Just my luck, just got notice that the Solo is back on Massdrop! Looks like it's time to purchase a portable backup for my new portable! Just hope it's not old stock, but from what i've read it shouldn't be.

Well put Stu. How'd you know of his planetary probation? Thought that was a military secret. I think OF wants to stay with us humans, thus failing a couple tests is done deliberately.

Was she good looking ;)
That would freak me out i think.
Sounds like she's one smart cookie, just wanted him to pull out that "phone" .

That's the plan PH, i'm gonna get something one or two steps finer than the "standard" from PV. The stems do dome slightly so that assists in the airflow as well. Actually, I think it's great the way it is right now... before it was way to restricted IMO and caused me headaches. I get great vapour and clouds on temps 4-5 and above.

I just want a 2 hole bent stem for the novelty and nostalgia lol

EDIT: Just did some more testing......I think the heat led is working as it should. Someone mentioned the heat soaked glass, and I think that might be something there...it allows the heater port to help maintain temp. As soon as I remove the stem, shortly after the heat led blinks a few times and if I leave it, it will eventually blink again. So all is well and this new Solo is amazing.

I use two screens, a "regular" screen goes in first, and then my really fine mesh screen goes on top. The finer screens will reduce it by a bit for sure, that's why I use my super fine screens.

I might swap a ceramic heater from an old old solo into one of the newest model ones just to see what happens. I wonder if each model is programmed to have a specific heating curve or if it just responds to what the heater tells it.

In other news I actually haven't pulled my m102 apart for PA revival but the thing with the trailing lights are gone now so it's back to working normally again. The only thing is the blue idle light barely shows, but the light must be almost dead as you can just barely see it trying to blink when you're turning the unit on but it gets drowned out by the yellow light on #1.

The high pitched whine my m102 makes is a little annoying but I'm learning to deal with it. Anyone else with a ceramic solo know about this whining I'm talking about?

Ps I remember skimming over this before but I don't remember what is the deal with the domed screens again.

I would love to hear about your experiences doing this, since I have a terribly sensitive pallet, and everything I own except for my Da Buddha tastes like steel to me :(.

Hey PH, just FYI, i've been testing the Solo inverted with a bubbler, and the heat led does kick in more often for whatever reason. This bad boy continues to impress....I love using it inverted as a portable water tool vape, and watch with awe as I can see the vapour pulling for what seems like an endless hit!

I love this thing almost as much as my nano. Taste is phenomenal.

I'll definitely post about it but you would need an old ceramic bowl solo to do this obviously.

But you have the newest model solo? I find my newest solo that's like a month or two old has my least favorite bowl of all my solos. Weed keeps getting stuck to it and the airflow is harsh because the airholes are extra big.

It's simple: you're getting a lot more airflow through the unit. Using any sort of external air chamber is almost like having an extra set of lungs :). You suck air through the water tool, which then sucks air through the Solo into the chamber of the device, instead of straight into your lungs. Think of it as a buffer for your lungs.

I got it straight from Arizer this week, so it's still a few-days-old infant. It's about as new as they come.

I am starting to see this as well: the large holes do seem to require quite a lot of shaking, tapping, and brushing to keep clear, and it certainly is a lot more harsh. My solution to that was to turn it down a level when using it with stock glass (African Blackwood still seems to require 7). I mentioned a few posts back that when using it with the stock glass, on 7 (which I always did with my 2012 Solo) it tasted like bitter, smokey combustion nastiness :(.
