did you get to my old post about taking it apart and using the PA without the battery attached
now I did thanks. so remove battery plug in PA turn on and bring to heat.. then plug the bat back in and it should work... ok nice... BUT.....

the weird thing is now my PA isn't working either... It always worked intermittently since I got it.... now it stopped..

I'm about to hit the PA box with a hammer to bust it open and try to see why is doesn't work right...

Thanks for the help!

Seems like a solid plan to me.

I'm considering getting one of these for about 120-130 with the warranty, but i'm also considering a davinci (the original one). I'm interested in that because it seems like a descent vape and has a warranty and it's small enough for your pocket. I've done a lot of research and it seems like the solo is the all around better vape but i'm not terribly concerned with taste just want something reliable and decently portable so idk it a hard decision but i thought some one on here would have a suggestion. i'm new here btw so i hope i'm following all the rules but i hope my grammars okay cuzz im a bit medicated curretly

I finally got around to trying out the JHOOK I got!

The airflow on the ceramic bowl is really tough. Thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try out my new pvhe gong.

I am devastated! I will be doing this a lot more from now on!

Welcome Spyguy, Most of us on this thread are big fans of the Solo. I don't have the original Davinci, but I do have the Ascent. IMO the Solo is the more sturdy dependable unit. It's economical and can be very portable especially with an Eds wooden stem or Wong.

I'm enjoying my Solo this warm summer evening on the back porch. A little bit of Black Haze as a treat.

I must admit, it messed with my head thinking there was a DaVinci called the 'Descent'. It took me a couple of reads before I realised you meant decent, but I'm a bit messy myself:nod:

As for choice between those vapes, I concur with CarolKing. I've only had my Solo for a few days and love the shit out of it. It hits like a desktop and is easily transportable(not really pocketable). The reason I have a portable is for going other places to vape, (mates place, beach, park, backyard, workshop) not at work or in a nightclub toilet. Ask yourself where you'll be vaping, not whether or not it'll fit in your skinny jeans. If you're a baggy trouser guy you'll be fine with either:tup:

I own a Pax and Davinci. Formerly owned a Solo (once the battery died, i bought the Pax). I recently compared all 3 of these on a different thread (which I now have a different favorite), in detail with few of my buddies vaping together. You can read the details here http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/haze-vaporizer.13162/page-2 . Summary of all. If you want portability, and budget is a concern, you should go with DaVinci. Solo is not much portable. On the other hand, it produces more vapor than DaVinci for sure. You can see the comparison details at the link I provided. Both of them are decent vaporizers though.

Hey Hey
Nice review Trev:tup: though the only performance point that I needed, was the one where the Solo exceeded, Clouds! No mention of looks either, the Solo is a gorgeous rig, the original DaVinci, well... Ugly is such a strong word, but yet I can't think of another:\

Hey guys, Long time since I've shown my face in here. Sadly I don't come with good news.

My solo died.. I'd left it for a few weeks as I was using my ascent more but decided to pull the old girl out of temporary retirement. When I turned it on it beeped and displayed all 7 lights ... I waited... and waited... The 7 lights never disappeared. It would not go into idle mode at all. If I select a temperature it acts normally until the point it is meant to heat up, but no... all 7 lights stuck on again. I've tried resetting it which does something, I'm not sure what. Once I release the buttons after holding them down for 10 seconds the solo continues to beep for 5 seconds or so and then the blue idle light comes on. If I select a temperature again nothing happens but this time rather than displaying the 7 lights it switches back to the idle light. If I bump the temp up to 7 I get back to where I started, 7 lights displayed constantly.... I hope I've been clear, I'll try and get a video up if anyone thinks it'll help.

I've contacted the seller and they have given me a returns address so it will be getting sent away, but what I'm really asking here is if this is a known problem that can be fixed or is it a dead unit that will need replacing? Half of me hopes I'm going to get a new unit, the other half of me remember what a PITA breaking the damn thing in was haha

It's worth noting that my battery is fully charged, so I'm not sure if it is the battery level display getting stuck or if it's fucking up before it even gets to that point. From memory all 7 lights flash and then the battery level is displayed? Is that right?

Thanks to anyone that can chime in on this... Poor baby

Salivape, I bought a Solo in April. After about 5 weeks or so it wouldnt work unless it was plugged in. It acted similar to yours when I would try to heat it up. I bought it at Puffitup and had a new one within 10 days. The replacement is still working like a charm.

I have 4 different portables. I find I use my Solo the most.

I have an older model Solo that just had its 1st Birthday it hasn't had a day of trouble.

Who's got the oldest working SOLO out there? And how many battery replacements are you on?

I saw some similar stuff (although not all that repeatable) on the used one I got with the bad battery, it went away when I replaced the battery or went to PA mode. Do you have a PA? I bet it works fine there?

Are you sure the battery is really charged? How was it's service life before you put it up? Did you fully charge it before storage or since?

EXACT SAME issue with my old M107 that just happened a couple weeks ago. And I mean EXACT!

I think @exit resolved this using the PA.

I have tried resetting.... Swapping batteries (fully charged).... Little love taps.... but to no avail. Seems to me the PA is the only viable solution thus far. That or sending it for repair/replacement?

However.... Idk if I want to drop $$ on a PA that may or may not fix the issue. It worked for @exit but I guess who is to say it will work the same for us?

Good luck!

@ataxian Yep, will do man. I guess my concern is that I'd like to know the issue so when the distributor lets me know the problem I know that it's not complete BS. If it's the battery then fine but I don't want to be told that it is the cause so they don't have to cover the warranty. It's over a year old.

@CarolKing Good to hear you got it sorted. I guess it wasn't an easy fix then. A friend of mine wants to borrow a vape so I'll lend him the new solo if I get one and he can do the breaking in haha. My solo is about 18 months old so I'm pleased this happened now and not in 6 months time! Of my 3 vapes the solo is my favorite but unfortunately it's the least suited to my situation.

@OF I don't have a PA unfortunately, nor do I know anyone who does. Bummer. It would be nice to see if it makes the difference but it is used away from a plug socket 99% of the time . I can only assume the battery is fully charged. It was charged before storage (minus 1 use, possibly, can't remember) and it was charged again once I tried turning it on and failed. As far as I remember the battery level was on 6 and then rose to 7 after 20 mins or so. Previous to the problem occurring the batter would last around 4/5 x 15 minute sessions (turned on again after the timeout) on levels 4-6, so pretty decent for it's age. Anything else that would help?

@CHIDOY That sucks man, I guess it's out of warranty? Yeah, that's too much cash to drop for an experiment. Even if it worked it'd still ruin the whole portable aspect which is why I bought a solo in the first place.

Thanks everyone. What a cool bunch of cats.

@salivape
yes.... Unfortunately my Solo is out of warranty as I bought it used from our buddy @mvapes over 2years ago. Maybe close to 3? Hell... Who knows how long he had it before me? So it was a hell of a run. For me.... Its been a daily driver for that long now. So absolutely NO complaints on the durability.

I purchased an "open box" Solo from Puffitup to replace my broken Solo. At least I have that to console me.

Btw... My new Solo is just as awesome and has the PA bypass feature. PIU and Randy ROCKS!

@CHIDOY That certainly is a good run! Is it old enough to be the ceramic bowl one? I could never be without a solo in my arsenal and neither should anyone else!

I was sure I'd read about a PA bypass feature so thanks for mentioning that. I have looked on the ebay sellers page (authorized dealer) and there's no mention of it. They claim to have M1F units, would they be the ones with this feature? By PA bypass I assume you mean it can be used from the mains without an extra lead?

Does anyone know where i can get parts for my solo? mainly this top part

Sorry, no. No heater parts from the maker, at least that anyone has been able to find and report back. Aside from stems and chargers the few places with batteries seem to be all the consumer parts available.

If you find out otherwise, please let us know? TIA

Good luck.
