I've used the stock SOLO stem before with a piece of silicone on one end and an MFLB stem on the other.
Stick the MFLB stem in the slide of most any water pipe.
Works great also easy and free if you have the parts lying around.

I've also used the stock bent stem on the SOLO with a larger piece of silicone and the straight stem in place of the slide on the water pipe. This uses all stock SOLO parts plus a $2 piece of silicone found most anywhere.

Or use a smaller "whip" tube, use the smaller diameter to fit inside the stock SOLO bent stem (put small O-ring on for a good seal), and put the other end into the "chamber" of the stock straight stem with a small O-ring around the silicone to seal that end. take the slide out and stick the straight stem in.

Or just put the stock stem on.
Put an O-ring around it and run it straight into the water pipe using the SOLO stem as the slide.
I don't like this route too much though.
It puts the SOLO too close to the water so you got to be careful. If someone coughs they could shoot water up the stem into your SOLO.

Through trial and error, I find IMO you don't want the inside diameter of the tubing to be too large, it really sucks the heat out of the oven and temp will drop 1 even 2 temps after a large pull, so you have to wait a little for it to heat back up.

Ask yourself "what would MacGyver do".

About the gong drought. A little funny fact. I was checking pv morning and nights to see if one gong pops up. Well, now, when I type p in the google address, planetvape comes 1st. Before another p named video site I visit almost daily just before going to bed.

I believe I'm still the only one to do this, I spent the $20.00 for a local glassblower to do it for me. With gongs so hard to find, I'm amazed that someone with a torch or fancy lighter hasn't done this them self yet.

Has anyone had any problems regarding the internal thermometer in their solo breaking?

Recently my solo will not reach the temperature I set it at, (IE set at 5, will only reach 4. Set at 4, only reaches 3). I sent it into PIU for warranty but Randy said that everything looked good. Additionally it has been scorching the bowl if set at anything above a 3. I have been searching through the thread but have not seen any mention of this issue.

A few notes: The Nano basket screen goes in much more easily than into the stock Nano Gongs and stems; the 45 degree bend in the stem only requires a 6 inch snip off of a coat hanger with a little bend in it, covering the tip with a small wad of soft padding so as not to scratch the inner glass - can be pushed out and adjusted through the top or bottom of stem - simple and efficient; entry into the Solo heater bowl requires a bit of effort - it is a very snug secure fit that won't rotate or fall out; heavy glass stem build oozes quality through & through. I'll be needing a V&C Gong next!

You can buy a PA from FC member Pipes. You can also run the old Solo while it's plugged in. You can't charge the older model Solo with it. It will charge the newer model Solo. It doesn't charge the newer model to a solid green. The green light will continue to blink, but that's OK it's better to not charge the Solo to a solid green anyway. It's better on the battery to charge to just under a complete charge.

Hello fellow vaporists!

A lot of people, me included, like to use screens in their glass but sometimes have a problem getting the right size, molding them to the right shape, etc. So I thought I would explain how to make the perfect domed screen for your Solo glass, and make it perfectly every time!

I buy all my screens in bulk, usually a 100 at a time from that well-known auction site. You can get 100 1/2-inch stainless-steel screens for just a few bucks.

What you'll need is a small piece of hard rubber, a selection of sockets from your toolset, and a good hammer. For the rubber piece, you might be able to get away with using a large stopper or something similar.

Testing your tool sockets, try to find one that fits inside the bowl of your Solo stem or gong. You want it to have some "play" room but you don't need a lot. I found that my Sears Craftsman 1/4-inch socket works perfectly for me.

Laying the rubber on a hard surface, place your 1/2-inch screen in the center.

Take your socket and place it on the screen, being careful to make sure the socket is centered. You should have an equal width of screen showing all around the base of the socket.

Now take your quality hammer and give the top of the socket a good blow. It might take a few times until you get it right, but what you'll end up with is a screen with a small, raised lip around the edge, making it fit perfectly in the Solo stem or gong.

In addition, you'll note the stamped screen has a small dome in the center. This results in the screen sitting above the holes in the stem / gong, ensuring great, even airflow.
