Arizer Solo

Another reason to buy from Puffitup:

My recently purchased Solo stopped working: Puffitup is covering postage back to them, and they are sending me a working unit as I type. I didn't have to International Mail it to Canada (to be fair, I don't know Arizer's problem resolution).

Wow, is that great service, or what?

Love puffitup, I also purchased my Solo from them. They price matched to $130 and sent a free 4pc aluminum grinder that's $12(?) on their site. Plus their mflb deals are prime

Side by side comparisons reinforce my speculation that the heater component or design was altered on the 2014 model. The heating chamber section (upper third) on the 2013 is noticeably hotter and corresponding LED/heat depletion, upon inhale, is less. I'm aware bigger holes can contribute to this. The 2014 runs somewhat cooler because it appears to have heat in reserve as I previously hypothesized. At the end of the day they both do the trick and the ABV is virtually identical. But because of its reserve power, cooler vapor, and increased airflow, I'm developing a special fondness for the 2014. The difference is minute, but every bit counts! :2c:

The screens I bought on eBay (100 1/2" for $4.50 - Thanks @axian) were clean but I ISOd 'em for the hell of it. Good quality, fine mesh. With stock stems the 1/2" screens need to be domed because the inside of the stock stem is under 1/2". They fit PV GonGs perfectly.

I think there is just variability in the stems. I believe the only stem they make from scratch is the turbo the rest are just modified stock solo stems.

How noticeable is the difference in airflow with the newer models? Basically like a stock stem vs PVHES airflow kinda deal?

Also, am I really gonna burn out the battery alot earlier by using it while it's charging (new design change)? I'm thinking about taking advantage of PV's 420 sale. Great deal.

Airflow is increased but it's nothing major. Pleasure is increased to the same extent.

I was surprised how stock stem vary in bowl size. 3/4" flat domed screen cut my bowl in half. My friend's bowl get about 33% smaller. He has a march2014 solo.

Bigger holes in the crucibles, bigger airflow, faster heating times, bigger bowls. Seems all related in some ways. Maybe arizer is pushing the limits with more aggressive heating programation for the solo?

On another subject, the reclaim I did is awesome. I recommend iso reclaiming hands down. I will try the routine of washing my stems in the same traveltube with the same iso instead of waiting months of buildup in my stem next time. Regular clean stem while recycling. Feels optimal

My friend's solo got really hot recently. Hot enough to seem like it might melt the unit. Now the unit turns on, but it doesn't heat up. Is there anyone on the forums who privately repairs Solo's out of warranty that might know what the problem is? He is interested in having it repaired.

Bummer. Sounds like the heater didn't shut down on reaching temperature (stayed on full time). It can't 'pull more power', but can do so for more seconds in the minute if that makes sense? The heater is on or off, there's no 'on harder'.

It could be a failure of the sensor I guess, or a problem with the controller. Bummer is no spare parts, even if you could find a guy with a screwdriver and meter the furnace where the sensor and the now bad (I suspect) heater are cemented in (must be replaced as a unit) and of course a problem on the board is also likely beyond repair.

So, not only don't I know of anyone to suggest (or have any other useful advice) but I suggest it's time to take advantage of the $130 deals going on.......

Good luck to the friend. I hope he feels he 'got his money's worth' from it.

And do tell us who the vendor is, I think that kind of service deserves some recognition? No shame in coming to the conclusion that a vape isn't for you, looks good for them not to leave you hanging when they easily could have just said "well your return window is closed sorry"

My experience was partially noted in the Pinnacle Pro thread. I experienced separation of the plastic from the housing and it seems although its a design flaw/manufacturing flaw the manufacturer is not honoring those as a warranty issue. So my only recourse was to talk to the vendor, who is authorized to resell them. At first they gave me the standard line of being past the exchange period and I would have to go to the manufacturer. I politely asked to speak to a supervisor. The lady who I spoke with was very nice (Barbara) and after I explained that the problem I was having was also reported by atleast 12 people on a forum (didn't mention which one). Pictures showed identical separation and I explained how the manufacturer was not honoring warranty repair. I told her I was interested in the Solo and while it was now a little cheaper than the PNP I would be happy with a swap and let them keep the difference. A few dollars wasn't gonna kill me. She took my number and said she would talk to the manufacturer because they had a good relationship with them. A few hours later she called me back and gave me instructions on how to return the unit.

I ordered off Rakuten (buy.com) with the actual seller being labeled as VapoBuy. When I got the unit there was a flyer from VapeUS / VaporizerUSA / SecretVape, their normal business names I guess. Out of Georgia. If anyone wants a 15% off code for them let me know. Good for any vaporizer or accessory. You can even get a free 4 pc metal grinder just for liking VapeUS on FB. Gonna take advantage of that. Never know when a spare grinder will come in handy.

So you guys/gals can see that this vendor does really care about satisfaction of their customers. I have nothing against the manufacturer of the PNP. They have a good unit, it just needs maybe another revision to work out the bugs. I would consider a redesigned unit if better built.

Enough of that, but now you guys have my history lesson for the day... I am ready to move on. In fact down the road I am going to get some feedback on a plug in vape. But for now I will enjoy my toy when it gets here.

The regular stock stem works fine with the newer model Solo. With the better airflow you don't really need the PVHES stems. I have used the PVHES stem with my new Solo, but prefer the stock stems. Each to their own.

The older model Solo I have I continued to use the PVHES stems with. I have a straight stem and a curved one, the curved stem is a shorty. I also have a couple of gongs, one a regular and the other a shorty, both 14 mm, I like them both. The gongs are a real tight squeeze in the newer Solo. I can get them in but they are real tight, I worry they may break.

So I just talked to Randy, yeah, that Randy, and i pulled the trigger on a solo, i plan on getting a wooden stem like usual.

My question:
How do i load it for the least draw reisistance? I cant physically draw a bowling ball through a straw with my asthma.

Experiment with a domed screen (searching this thread should bring many results). The main thing is probably not loading a special way, it's learning how to use it. I suggest not fighting the vape trying to take massively quick hits instead sip on the stem

Good call. Lots of us have nice things to say about Randy, straight up guy IMO. You'll like him and the Solo he sells you I'm sure.....or he'll hang with you until you do.

I'm a sipper too, mostly by choice. Solo will do fine for you. You can load the stem by sucking up the ground herb just fine so it has to draw easy. You can even load intact buds which of course have lots of openings around them. I run fine screens and have no problems with slow draws until they get quite fouled up, and they are very easy to change out (and clean later when you have a pile) when that happens. Keeping the bud dry going it really limits the fouling.

Enjoy the Solo as soon as Randy get it to you, which won't be long. Remember to fully charge it before first use. Most guys do a couple of full blast burn offs for form, I'm not sure it's needed but can't hurt.

You might want to poke back here a bit, there's a lot of useful chatter about charging/use strategies for maximum battery life.

Congrats.
