The classic Arizer Solo II. Simple, frugal, and effective, this was my first real vape after starting with a Yocan Vane.
Jumping into dry herb vaping, fortune was such that I ended up with a few different cookers. It is nice to be able to switch between units, and different flower cooks differently in different units. There are differences in taste, there is a difference in the high, and for me, a different ritual. After being loaned out for a few months, it is a pleasure to be using the Solo II after a hiatus.
When it comes to stretching a few grams, or for microdosing, the Solo can get the most out of the least. It does not take a lot of flower to catch a buzz. There is no question that simple can be good.
The glass tube system is a dream in terms of ease of use and maintenance. The Solo II does not require a lot in terms of consumable parts or time keeping the unit operating. While some vapes require maintenance and cleaning after every use, the glass tubes require little care. As for loading, it couldn't be simpler. With a few preloaded tubes, the Solo II also makes a great unit for portable use.
When it comes to flavour, at lower temps, the taste is good. When it comes to higher temps, taste doesn't matter as much; it all tastes the same. That isn't a criticism, but rather just a reality of high temperature in a conduction vape. In terms of conduction vapes, the Solo II is a good choice for good tasting flower.
Bongs make things better and the Solo II works great with a bong.
The Solo works best with time and patience;
Step one, load the tube;
Step two, take a test draw; don't start cooking until you are sure that the air flows through the tube;
Step three, start the unit and wait at least a minute or two, or three;
Step four, take a draw; with a bong it only takes a hit or two.
If there is one thing lacking on the Solo II, it is the interface. It would nice if it at least 'beeped' when it hits the desired operating temp. Without a stopwatch or timer, everything is a guess. That said, simple is reliable.
Happy to be using the Solo II again............
