@Greenleaf88 Maybe use a shorter/smaller flame or increase distance from flame . Sounds like you experience the thermal lag and half way through your hit it gets up to combustion temp. I imagine the Anvil is like riding a car without brakes,if you speed too much it will definetly crash into combustion zone :).
People that have experience with the supreme vaporizer might be better at mastering the anvil, cause they are used to seeing temp rising after they stop heating, the bigger the flame, the higher the overshoot.
If there was a way to stick thermocouple inside ,it might give some answer of what exactly is happening on the reheat and how much is the lag.

It does when i take it off to empty the abv it clicks I fill it put it on again amd heat on the battery until it clicks again. About half way thru my hit it combust
On your second bowl, try to heat it at the top copper strip. I'm just spitballing here but, I think it's still heat / energy in the battery. When you throw more heat at the battery, it'll absorb it, you'll prob get to the click a little faster but, the copper battery will keep "discharging" until poof! Fuck! Combustion!

I pressed some fresh rosin today and decided to start experimenting with concentrates in the Anvil. I grabbed a DynaCoil, some vaping cotton, and concocted @Whiff recommended screen method.

The DynaCoil didn’t fit. It was to tall. I probably could have unrolled it and cut it but it’s new so I didn’t.

The cotton and the Ti screen performed very well. Really nice flavor and loads of vapor. The screen was nice for small amounts. The cotton I could confidently load more. I’ve always liked the cotton method. Fresh cotton each load keeps the flavor true.

2 great ideas I will try thank you but other than that I love it can't stress that enough, can't wait for my second unit to come in.
Hi there. John here.

I have to be honest that we did not do a lot of rapid back-to-back testing by heating exclusively the CopperBlock. Generally we were always dumping and re-filling the same bowl. We probably built in an adequate cool-off cycle more by accident than planning. We were honestly never in that much of a hurry. Particular after bowl #1 if it was an RTL. I wish I had a better answer for you right now but like others I am going to speculate.

I agree that the residual heat in the copper is the thing we have to compensate for on the second hit. The second bowl is going in cold despite the copper already being at 300 plus. That temperature differential needs to be accommodated by a change in aim point lower for the torch on the second hit. I don't have great data on tight back-to-back hits right now but I do have a pretty strong belief in what's going on. The heat up curves are pretty linear in these temperature ranges so doing a second "ride the line' is obviously pushing the energy in the thermal battery up and over the edge. The herb chamber is lagging a couple of hundreds of degrees in this hot start scenario and the catch-up just isn't fast enough. So we need to temper the heat input on the second cycle.

I am going to agree wholeheartedly that the second hit might be more safely accomplished and stay in the vapour zone by heating below the gap on the oven. The CopperBlock will get a solid nudge - but not a full push as it were. I can't set up thermocouples on the second internal load very easily because the oven is already hot. I thread the herb chamber thermocouple down through the mouthpiece and its finicky to seat securely and twist the herb chamber back in when cold and I can't imagine it being too easy when the oven is at temperature. I have wanted an excuse to rent a good high res thermography camera for some time. Maybe this is it. I envision we could then develop some solid recommendations that would avoid the race conditions that are causing the problem. It would be something like this - these are NOT tested but I'm trying to "spitball" for those that want to try and develop a framework before I have data.
30 seconds between bowls - heat the oven near the threads
1 minute between bowls - top of oven
2 minutes between bowls - gap
5 minutes between bowls - can hit regular RTL on the CopperBlock

The truth is in the testing not the theory but I hope this helps.

I'm home all day tomorrow and will be testing it a bit and report back.

I'll do it till I get fed up of cleaning cuz of combustion lol

Yes that was my question. Do you think that too much heat is distributed due to the probably longer heating time? I thought of a 10mm flat coil that would have to be expanded a bit for an anvil so that it fits in. With the 10mm coil you can heat up nicely at certain points.

I've been doin back to back with this newer founders edition with no problems, i always did back to back full bowls so i tried a full bowl then a half bowl and all was fine. I think a lot of you are using too much torch power and thus combusting. I'll try and get a video of a back to back, i have noticed that this unit take me about 50 sec to heat up with my torch over the usual 45.

Thats awesome but i cant take credit for the screen method as that was @PaperClouds i tried using the dynacoil but doesnt get hot enough, may be better with the helix due to more conduction being introduced and i also tried those black leaf glass screen but also do not get hot enough. The cotton worked fairly well i found too.

I just hit it back to back I pulled back on my torch the second heat up higher on the battery. Next one I'll heat lower on the battery second hit thanks guys.
Glad to hear it brother!!! I just recorded my morning wake and bake and i did a back to back to simulate how you were vaping. 1st the big bowl then the half bowl, im uploading to reddit now and will post.

Due note that my torch was almost dead so it took me a bit longer on the initial heat up, usually it is around 47-50 sec on average for me on the new founder edition. The Avb on these were really damn light.

Edit: Ok here is the video, i can definitely use more torch power then i did here. I really need to get me a better torch, this honest one only goes so high before it start spitting everywhere and my dbl flame wastes way too much tane/has a tiny tank...i only get like 6 bowls and i have to fill it up.

Hoping this shows that you really dont have to blast the oven, a nice slow heat soak really gives you a huge tasty hit. Hope this helps some of you guys out.

I've done several back to backs with no problems too. The key is in the heater I think.
I timed my first few heatings to figure out how the Anvil works and to choose the right torch, find the power of the flame and find where to heat
I noticed that heating between 45 and 50 sec the copper part works well for me and gives me a dark avb like I like...
With the 1/2 bowl, it's more sensitive and yes, I crossed the line...since that, I stop heating at the first click and it gets better!

One more day with the Anvil and, how to say...

I am curious about this vape, having recently started using a VapCap.

I understand that the Anvil will not fit into existing induction heaters used for the VapCap. And I read that the Anvil will fit in the Ispire Wand, but the Wand is not really powerful enough for use with the Anvil (I believe that > 60 seconds to first click was reported).

I don't have any interest in torches at this time. I use an induction heater with my VapCaps.

From an engineering standpoint, will it be possible to heat the Anvil with an induction heater someday, or is it not feasible?

Yes it will be possible to use an induction heater in the future

.... Spoiler alert. All of your ovens are going to be upgraded in the future to change the outer stainless layer from 304 non-magnetic to 416 magnetic steel so we can get ready to light Anvils up with an induction heater.

My normal practice is to take intermittent hits, not looking to finish a bowl in one hit. Most of my vapes are convection on demand. Does the Anvil fit this use case? It sounds from what I'm reading here like either you get one enormous hit or 2 or 3 hits over the course of s ingle heat cycle. Is there a case to be made for this as an on-demand microdoser?

You could load up the half chamber. Heat it high up on the oven, and come back to it later to finish up the chamber. Effectively vaping it in 2 hits. I would consider this a microdose personally.
