Trouble is I know nothing about making coils, what else would I need to get the Kayfun up and running ( I do have an istick TC40w)?
If you aren't experienced with building coils, I'd suggest starting with the Squape RS, instead of the kayfun V4.
The Kayfun works very well, but is mechanically complicated, and can be difficult to coil and re-wick because of the deck design. For those reasons, it's not an ideal tank for someone new to rebuildable atomizers.
The Squape RS works just as well as the Kayfun, but is much simpler in design and much easier to build. I have three Squapes and one Kayfun in rotatation. The Squapes are much easier to maintain, so I use them for nicotine liquid. They see much more volume put through them in that capacity- trying to maintain that many kayfuns would be a chore. The one Kayfun V4 I have is left to handle concentrates, but I'd use a Squape for that too, if I had another.
Another thing to consider is that if you're using a temperature control mod, the kayfun may not work well because it uses a spring to transmit the current at one point inside the atomizer. This can cause minor resistance fluctuations that can cause faults with the operation of temp control mods.
To build the Squape, or any other rebuildable tank you'll only need a few tools and supplies:
Wire- to wind your coil. Usually kanthal is used for power control mods, and titanium for temp control mods.
Wick- Cotton wool, hemp wool, woven silica, or stainless mesh. This is personal preference- mine is cotton.
Jewelers screwdrivers- for securing the coil to deck, which is usually done with small screws. Small screwdrivers can also be used as a coil wrapping form, if they are an appropriate diameter.
Dril bit- Commonly used as a tool to wrap a coil around, since it's easy to purchase any diameter desired.
Ceramic tip tweezers- for coil adjustment
Wire cutters- for cutting the coil wire
Small scissors- for trimming the wick
Multimeter- For checking your coil resistance and builds- probably not necessary if you're using a temp control mod that detects resistance.
Here's the most straightforward build video I could find- it shows the W deck option built with a contact coil, which is my preferred setup:
One last thing I wanted to mention is that most of my tanks are clones. I have a few originals, and they are impeccable, quality-wise. The clones are also great- they're not quite as good as the real thing, but they're usually not too far off. I'd buy all authentics if I could afford it, but I can't. So know that there's the option to get in for about 25 bucks if the original is too much at 165. An authentic Kayfun V4 is even pricier than the Squape, at 180.
