Nice box mod that's a beast! I have been using a patriot for my oil for over 6 months I have no complaints it has a large deck to build on post holes could be a little bit bigger if I was being picky but I usually top mount on the post any way.

I am currently using the last of ekowool wicking which is a type of woven silica wicking before I switch over to ready wick or possibly shaping my own stones.

My current build is a stove top coil made of twisted 26 gauge wire with a small piece of ekowool between the coil and posts to catch run off and keep it near the coil. It's been working well for the last couple weeks. I think about 1 ohm or so.

Ya basically using the stovetop as a skillet this is the first time I have tried this kind of coil setup I probably should have torched the wire first for a nicer wound coil. I hadn't posted any pics because I felt like it was kinda sloppy and was gonna wait til V2 but oh well.

gotcha. how is the flavor? are you getting any metal tastes? or burnt tastes?

I dunno why but I completely forgot to mention this... There's this guy that made a kit called an Aero Dripper that basically turns a Kanger Aerotank into a dripper, pretty much you just add one of the prebuilt coils to it, remove the chimney, drip on it, and then put the top cap on. $16.50.

I just emptied the tank with glass window and pulled the flu out of a gunked head...

btw I guess vaping with the ejmix on lower watts just causes the head to gunk... took forever to burn off all the gunk. so im gonna try the juice mix again on a higher voltage like 7... I have an ecom c twist vv. 5.1 to 10w

anyway... the the tank without mouthpiece makes a great 10mm adapter. so ive been using my aero all afternoon with shatter on my beer bhottle. what an easy fucking day without the torch blazing!

but yes. I recall you put that thread up right after I sold my evic and protank to my ecig fiend buddy. havnt owned one since until I got this little ecom. it actually packs a lot more punch than those old vv twists.

so, shoutouts to @Quetzalcoatl for reminding me of the @2clicker kanger mod!

Taste is pretty much on par with the other coils I have wrapped it's pretty good. The only time you get that burnt taste is when you really hammer down on the throttle to long. Doesn't happen to me really but my combustion buddies will sometimes mash the button too long. I do think I am getting a bit too much run off into my wick below but I think torching the wire to get a more consistent wrap for the stove top shape would help. I have just been too lazy to re wrap

Yeah READYXWICK is the way to go,, but silica would do in the mean time, at least much better then cotton

Here's a coil I've been using lately. Still have not built a good coil with rxw. Flavor is still the best with ceramic rod to me too. This coil is twisted 30 Guage kanthal running at 1.5 ohm. Let me now if you have any questions.

Sad to see this thread not being as active. I was messing around trying to create a new coil. Came up with this. Wish it was a little higher in OHM (read .7), but for my first go at my idea it came out pretty nice. I used 28 guage wire, next time Id prob use 30 or 32 to bump it up a bit more.

Used a 2 in piece of RXW, dabbed the ends of it so it wouldnt fray and then stuck the braided kanthal in and wrapped it around the thinnest object I had. Got 4 nice coils.

how well does the dab stay on this coil when it is heated? I would think this would require care to keep close to vertical when heating, as the dabbler does. That seems to be the advantage of the diamondback coil with readiwick, that it is easy to load and keeps the oil in place fairly well.

ok so check out this pic. what you are looking at is PTFE heat shrink tubing holding the ends of the RXW together. originally i was going to use this method to ship coils and advise that they be removed before installation. then i was talking to friend and they suggested just leaving the PTFE on the coil during use. this stuff is good at temps up to 500deg.... so my question is this... could this possibly be safe for use on hot coils? do our coils ever get up that high in temp?

I dont think it would be ok, but I have no actual evidence of these, just speculation. These coils that we are making get hotter than that. I know its not directly touching that area of the coil, but either way I wouldnt want this in my airpath.

I put a dab on, prime the coil for one 2-3 second pulse, and it all melts in. I then can take 2-3 hits off that dab. I could load more than a dab or two with this current method. It soaks it ALL up compared to the ceramic rod which it bubbles a bit more and creates a buildup pool underneath.

Im trying to figure out a way to incorporate both the rod and the rxw in one build

So I rebuilt one of the ceramic cup attys for a ego pen.

This works SO much better than what it came with. I have tried to take apart like 5 different ceramic cup attys and all of them failed except this one. This one had no glue on the inside and no coated wires. Therefore I could take some kanthal and rxw and have a far superior coil.

To me, the taste of the RXW is still there, but compared to the silica that was in there its a huge difference. when I was taking the original coil apart, the silica that was inside of it just fell apart like it was burnt and old. Not good at all!!!!

I have a few friends with the same attys whose Im rebuilding today. I cant wait for them to experience the better taste and efficiency of the rxw. One more then is that when you put a dab down there the rxw soaks it up unlike the silica you can see it pool up all over the ceramic bottom. Another plus for rxw!

Sorry the pictures are a little blurry and not the best of the actually building. Its hard to document and take photos by yourself with these small parts.

If anyone is in fact interested in this further let me know.

Sorry for a double post before. Almost posted a third time in a row.

Just rebuilt this coil. Thought it wasnt going to be able to do it since it had soldering in the inside from the original, but still was able to do it.

The rebuild is clocking in at 2.6ohm, a tad higher than I would have liked, but it hits SMOOTH.

It may be one of my best tasting coils built so far, only hit it twice though, so cant tell ya for sure.

The readywick instead of silica is a game changer in these little bad boy ego style.

Going to try to build another one on this other skillet I have to see if I can make it closer to 2ohm.

I tried to rebuild the yozap, and the wires on the inside are glued in place. Therefore the coils can not be rebuilt on those. At least from my experience and trying to open almost a half a dozen of those.

If I knew where to find more of the coils I would for that one. I have a container full of atomizers that are gunked up or bad taste. Those are all the ones I have been trying to rebuild.

Only one that I know where I got that I just rebuilt is that last one. The skillet:

good shit @gvape! rebuilding kanger heads with RXW in that same fashion makes a world of difference. i dont even use the stock coils they come with. they get tossed out and the RXW goes right in there. but you can also sleeve the wire AFTER its been coiled so that the kanthal isnt exposed. all you would see is RXW.

like this. the coil on top was stretched out (dont even remember why i did that), but the wire inside the RXW is coiled like normal.

I would have to say absolutely not... when I checked the temp of mine it hits 650+ when red hot, I verified this with a laser heat gun reader, whatever its called cant think right now lol

yep thats what i figured. i tried to use a temp gun but the readings were all over the map.

i will find another use for this stuff.

ok, so I finally drilled out the airholes on the igo-w and it is now much easier to hit. Still using the same coil, not sure if the size is making it use more oil or not. @2clicker, what have you found is the optimal number of wraps in the dbc coil?

Here is the replacement coil I will eventually try before I order a few premade by the expert...

ordered a few DBC coils from the master and added a new drip tip to the igo-w. Not for use when stealth is a concern, but I like it a lot!

2 coils... one wire. this is the coil i have been playing with lately. this is sleeved in RXW and crimped together similar to the DBC. its either the "mummy" coil or "pharoah" coil. the wire resembles a human skeleten of the upper torso... and then its wrapped in RXW... hence the mummy name. anyway, this coil uses about half the RXW that the DBC does, but its a bit smaller. can be mounted on the side or on top. pics of the final coil soon. just wanted to share.
