I've been eyeing this thing for awhile:

Doesn't use a PID.
I contacted the designer, he said it uses a Ardino micro something or other.
I don't know if this temperature control system is better than a traditional PID, but he...
DNail's recommendation is to run it in this order top to bottom:
Retaining nut
Halo
Heat retainer
Heater
Nail base
Like so (might not be the best angle):
You can't really see it, but the heat retainer (washer) is above the coil and below the Halo.
It's to help protect the Halo from the...
Thank you!
I typically use a dropdown in all my rigs, for the reasons you noted:
Less heat transmitted to the joint
Less reclaim in the rig + easier to "reclaim the reclaim"
But I'm trying to get my face as close to the terps as possible!
This is the first time I have felt comfortable running...
^^^ Oh, HOLY CRAP!!!
I am soooooooo jelly!

Impressions?
The polishing/matte surface quality looks very similiar (if not identical) to the DNail Sapphire Halo and insert.
I just started using the V3 20mm bucket with a SiC insert:
@mrbonsai420, you say that you like the...
Thank you very much.
Performance wise, it rocks!
With the Deep-Six downstems there's basically no perc, so it's flavor city.
The six downstems don't have much cross-sectional volume, and as such should create a low-pressure area to help speed along and condense the vapor.
In theory...
I've settled on 800* for the flat coil bucket with a SiC insert.
Nice whitewalls, pretty much no vapor trails.
However I am using a flat coil that is fairly thick so there isn't any movement in the coil, or air in between the bucket/coil/retainer; is your coil thick enough to be pinned between...
Greetings.
Stealth Liger Beta Tester here (or I guess, not so stealthy).
I've been toying around with the V3 for about a week now, and thought that I would share some impressions and photos.
Post ISO wash:
Bits bin:
Close-up (with Hurricane cap):
And I thought the Halos were big! (the...
Agreed.
What did the Beta wicking pattern look like?
My Halo's wicking pattern, which hailed from the first batch for public release, looks like a bunch of concentric circles (to the naked eye).
All of the Sapphire Halos pictured above have a much different appearance than my Sapphire Halo.
Mine is more opaque, and much whiter in color:
Brand new, never used:
Two from today:
It's still a bit dirty in those later two pics, but it cleans up clean as a whistle and looks brand new...
