Definitely hot enough to turn the abv dark when I've hit the stem completely. Its DC [most adapters have VDC output, the Jameco was VAC] and I've read that DC would create slightly more heat, so I guess at nearly 12v [checked with a multimeter, its just over 12v] the temperature is just right.

I bought a powersupply that indicates that it can withstand a continuous output power short for very cheap [Link involves multiple companies at various prices, I went for the one priced at $3.24]. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005JRGOCM/ref=pe_175190_21431760_C1_cs_sce_3p_dp_1 Its been working...

I have to note that the tone of V-rod's comment that started this could also be considered hostile. It is depreciating and ends with 'take a hike'. Isn't that hostile too? I just don't want this accusation to be unfairly one-sided against a new forum member. A nazi swatiska has solid sides at...

Longtime older smokers not fond of vapor?

I heard once that the plant matter gives a certain dimension to the high that one can get used to out of habit when they are combusting... so when they try vaping they feel like something is missing and go back to it. Vaping for me was totally a stepping-out-of-the-dark-ages moment. "How did...

    The HI

:bowdown: I had to hack at my PD to open it up from the bottom in order to work on it. Even though I am a functionality first guy, I still felt bad at having to mar it like that. Being able to access and quickly repair a failed resistor without harming the HI is just beautiful...

    The HI

I agree 100%, I LOVE this feature of the HI. I am maintaining my PD right now and I have to be very careful about not causing a short [killed two transformers accidentally when I didn't realize this] so your design is perfect in its elegant simplicity.

Other than the helpful comments from others in this thread, there was no direct response to my question so I'll just leave it at this; The batteries are what stand between me and a purchase. What if you went out of business right when the batteries started to fail? I'd have to throw it away...

This is how I stopped the rattle [the snap ring is already removed, the looseness made it useless to me at this point]. Two screws on each end so that it is centered in the PD. It does take a little adjusting here and there until I was satisfied it was in the center and not moving at all...

    Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

The repair went well, and I've been vaporizing without a hitch, but several things have happened since I've repaired my PD. The original Jameco power supply which I had noted was running pretty high at 14v-15v died at the transformer [no more voltage from it]. I figured the previous high...

Sometimes batteries have no markings on them to indicate what kind they are, so the info on what specifically to order for replacement [or being available to order from the seller] is what is being asked for.

The only concern I have about the DaVinci is in being able to manually replace the batteries when they have run down. I like fixing my stuff instead of having to send them in, and I have no problem with losing the warranty over doing so. Shipping costs money both ways, and there is also the...

    The HI

VapeVoice, Those of us into the HI consider this among the greatest choices you could make, so you'll have to forgive that concept of your being deemed worthy of such a great product :) Log vapes are very efficient, so if the cost of herb is a consideration this is very important. The power...

The wood is half a cm thick, so I think it would fail and make the hole bigger. Using a very thin screwdriver or something else along those lines to sever the glue seems the best approach, then that tool would be great for the leverage in removing it. Update on my PD: It appears to be...

    Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

Okay, got the resistor, installed it and it appears to be working perfectly. I'll return to this thread and update this if there are any problems. The packing list verified that the resistor is indeed RoHS. After contemplating how I was going to repair the PD so it would not rattle anymore...

Can you damage your brain taking repeated vaped bowls after bowl?

This is not damage, this is tolerance. If I've quit it for a while and for a bonus I've been going through a lot of physical activity, then FINALLY reach a point where I can relax by myself with a bowl... I have the most amazing time. Visuals, insights, everything....if you have such moments...

    Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

When I think of the word "charring", I think of a heat source so intense it incinerates the surface of a piece of wood. This isn't what is happening inside the log vapes. What is really occurring here is that the heat is drying out the wood inside, so it shrinks and cracks. The unit which...

    The HI

A long, long time ago, I experimented with the soldering gun conduction vape inside a bong [and was unimpressed]. When I finally was interested again, I made the mistake of starting off my vaporizing experience with a horrendous chinese-made whip box vape [but then again, I figured that in...

Ioright, guess its time to investigate the PD. Good luck. I broke the bottom part of my PD because I switched from my thin screwdriver to a thicker one to try and pry the cylindrical plug off, and in hammering it into place it cracked that part off [and gave me the access to the plug to pry...

Have you checked the power supply to eliminate it as the cause? With a multimeter I was able to move the wire around and if it was very clear that moving it in one direction made it shut off it tended to indicate the wire needed soldering. It was when I wasn't able to replicate this problem...

    Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

Hello! It has been ages since I've been here! My PD just died recently, too. I had long been taking care of the power supply issues [the solder connections tend to break near where it plugs into the PD] so I open it up and solder it back on properly and then create my own temporary strain...
