My container wasn't quite tall enough for my 60t, but now that you mention it IIRC there was an air pocket at the bottom perc. I think I submerged it just enough to fill the joint and then did a very quick pull on the mouthpiece, that was enough to fill the bottom. Ya don't want the SG coming...

I considered that with my HT's with <2 oz water in the chambers. But my Mobius bubblers take 4-5oz, that gets pretty expensive changing it daily. (I have the concentrate, using your ratio.)

I'm partial to the Hydraline. Great diffusion, virtually drag free, extra smooth, good backflow protection, ice pinches, solid build. Highly recommended.
