Valid and makes sense to me! It's a much bigger piece of glass than my other pieces, so perhaps I am unfairly comparing the vertex to my other glass. Will definitely do some additional testing this weekend with the TM2. May pull out my Runt with WPA to see if it does well through the vertex.

I use this method too! Tongs or dishwashing gloves to hold the stem so you don't scald your fingers, plus a spritz or two of dawn powerwash (it has a bit of rubbing alcohol in it), then scalding hot tap water. Didn't think about using a hairdryer to dry it, that's perfect.

for rimless basket screens, I just stretch them a bit to make them fit better in a stem. or you could use two basket screens (one inside of the other) to make certain they don't move around. I use this method in my ed's tnt WPA so the screen doesn't move when stirring or brushing out.
