...I do find myself constantly reaching for it tho....I think perhaps inadvertently it will grow to become a very important vaporizer for me.

To be fair, some of us don't have access to concentrates. It'll illegal where I live, and I don't know anyone who sells it. You're right, though - it sounds like the FF2 actually excels more at liquids than herbs. I will have to try it at some point.

Ah, that sucks, I'm a big fan of concentrates.

Even if you don't want to get a super intense high you can still use an absolutely teeny tiny amount of concentrate and get a great effect. I think the FF2 will excel for this type of usage as you can take a small puff then just set it down.

I think 99% of the FF2 haters out there are face ripper stoner ass holes who only want maximum face ripping, lung hacking, nuclear bomb loads that extract 0.2-0.4 g in one mind numbing rip, they pre-ordered expecting that and didn't like what they got and run around on reddit bashing on the FF2.... ya the FF2 is not for them, they can do research and buy an EVO or a Lotus or a Sublimator or.... a joint perhaps? like seriously go smoke a joint if you NEED to feel like Snoop Dog 24 hours a day (btw I love snoop, I buy and listen all his albums regularly, and I love smoking joints, I'm just adding perspective cuz snoop really does smoke too much in a good way)
Totally agree. I'm a sippy type, and the FF2 serves me nicely. I do not think it is as efficient as the Lotus or the E-nano, but it's more portable than either, and it's nice to finally have a battery-powered vape I'm happy with, even if I still usually go to butane.

Well, that's what happens when a vape gets marketed as the "bestest vape evar!!
Which is why the unwritten motto of this forum has always been 'There is no best vaporizer.' It's all subjective and depends on the user.

Unfortunately, Morimoto's post has been quoted several times without the mod note being posted on it regarding name calling. Just in case anyone comes on at this point and sees it in the quotes, I just want to remind everyone that it is not permitted here, no matter how justified. There are other ways to get our point across without name calling.

I'm having a first-time issue right now - when I press the heat buttons, I get a solid green light, no orange light, no heat and no vapor. It is connected to the app (high heat) but hasn't been used since yesterday. It says the battery is full, but we all know you can't trust the battery indicator. It was only used for one bowl since the last charge, though.

Touch either or both buttons for a moment to wake it up, stop touching and then touch both again. Should work normally. I see this all the time, mentioned it a few pages back.

Edit to add: When I first noticed this I thought it was intermittent, but I no longer think that and can pretty much replicate this every time. If it has been sitting long enough to go into low power standby (not sure how long this is but probably only a minute or so) then if you touch both buttons at once it wakes up but does not start the heating process. If you touch either button first, or touch both and then let them go again, then when you touch both it is already awake and starts heating. I am fairly certain that it is supposed to both wake and start heating when you touch both buttons initially, but it gets stuck on the wake part. My bet is that this will be addressed in a firmware update at some point.

I think that it appeared intermittent to me at first because I was unknowingly touching one or the other of the buttons when picking it up, so it would appear to just work when I touched both. I am about 90% sure now, though, that if I make sure I haven't touched either (when it has been idle for a while) then I will get the solid green light an no heating. Let go and try again, everything is fine.

Yeah, that normally works, but isn't this time, unfortunately... I'm out and about right now, but when I get home I'll try charging it. Maybe it needs a little juice, or just a little surge of power?

1. Did you touch the buttons a second and third time, to no success? ie. as reported sometimes it "sleeps" and you get a solid light. Remove your fingers and touch again. Does that get it flashing and heating? (EDIT: I see you tried that. Your battery is dead, or nearly, despite what the app says, is my guess....you should see a red flash but my FF2 doesn't seem to consistently red flash when the battery tanks so...)
2. IF NOT...take out the battery and put in a fresh one and see if it works.

As I mentioned earlier I've had some inconsistent results with both the battery meter on the app (which several folks have noticed) and actual battery time. It's been difficult to pin down, so I'm curious if anyone is seeing anything similar.

It seems like there are a lot of biased opinions out there. For anybody other than a "newcomer" those biases can be hard to overcome. Especially when there's been so much hype surrounding this thing. It seems like as soon as somebody feels that their expectations haven't been met, they go straight to bashing.

Like everything in life, it's an expectations game. Those of us who've lived with FF1s for a couple years find the FF2 a huge improvement...faster, hotter heating, more consistent results, better design. But if you're never used one, and have an expectation of a more automated vape like The Mighty or whatever, the FF2 can seem like a lot of work.

People should know this is a manual vape, with some technique involved, and some intervention required during the vaping process. If you aren't expecting this, and/or don't care for this kind of vaping experience, it's pretty reasonable to be less than glowing in your first FF impressions. (Pun intended. :p) It's a specific kind of vape for a specific kind of experience and circumstance (as is The Mighty). It's (IMO) the best at what it does, but it'll never be all vapes to all people.

Just a heads up, if anyone looking for a case the Vatra DDK case works great. The 6" one fits everything perfectly. It's also 'smell proof' and padded.

Ah, dang. That I thankfully have not seen happen. Hopefully @mitchgo61 is right and it just the battery.

Maybe try changing the button mode from both to one and see if it works then.

The mods do a good job of weeding out the negitive nancys on here, mad respect.

Here is a shot of my FF2 AVB piles from various other vaporizers, big pile is old AVB, little piles from the FF2. I have been doing this all day and I'm realllllllllllly high, very clean, clear high! glad I saved this AVB! getting 2-3 very potent solid lungfuls from each load

some are micro loads with the pad on top, some are normal, some were larger than normal, and all vaped well/evenly with a stir after each hit

So I've been blasted to the moon all day, and only by vaping 13 piles of 2 month old AVB! I have about 15 more grams of AVB like that kicking in the captain's cupboard lol

I get clouds on every hit. In terms of a balance of stealth (of course there are stealthier ones out there---but I think the FF2 is still pretty good), vapor production, and taste---it wins on all 3 counts. Are there bigger cloud makers out there----sure----but the clouds are really good and the extraction is excellent on this. I've now tried a few other vapes out there. The few that produced bigger clouds didn't taste nearly as good.

Also---I've found that the FF2 is easy to stir for one reason. The bowl is surrounded by glass on all sides. I use the E-Nano stir tool and REALLY stir. I don't have to do it gingerly so it doesn't overflow the bowl. I just slide it back in off the glass. BTW---the E-Nano tool works really well with the FF2.

Criticisms---
The indicator light can be a bit wonky. If you go back 30 minutes for a hit it often goes directly to green rather than blinking

I bought a 2.1 amp (10 watt) usb charger. Maybe the charger is wonky (it was really cheap) but it still blinks blue after 2 hours. It eventually gets charged, but no way in less than a hour. I'll try another charger and see.

At least in my case---I think that the 5 to 7 second warmup is a bit misleading. The light goes to solid in 7 seconds and the bowl is a glowin' but I feel that the first few seconds of the hit doesn't yield much. You can tell when the cloud-producing level is there. It's usually after the first 10 seconds of draw. For instance---you can take a first hit. And feel the clouds coming on at the last 5 seconds of a 15 second hit. And feel the effects for sure. If you go to take a second hit immediately after---you can feel the cloud vapor right away---I couldn't even get to 15 seconds on that hit----too much for my old lungs. And there would be a HUGE cloud. So---what works for me--- I let it warm up initially for 7 seconds. Take a small slow hit---and blow it out. Then immediately take a second bigger hit. More vapor than I can handle at that point. I've found that this works well from a cold start or after waiting a few minutes between hits. The reason people say take super long slow hits is that the beginning of that hit is kindof "priming" My results are super consistent now and I find that I'm never reaching for my E-Nano.

So---I'm really happy with it. You just can't believe how cool and pleasant tasting the vapor is. I find that once I've got my personal technique down---all is good.

The problems that I reported I don't consider that big of a deal---I'm sure they'll work them out.

Oh--also--I'll take some ABV and wipe down the vapor path of accumulated resin. You'll likely want to do that or a Kleenex over it daily--you don't have to but it takes two seconds. With that ABV you can get 4 uber cloudy hits out of.

And as someone mentioned. Every time you take the top off---blow into the mouthpiece. You'll never have to (well, almost never) clean it.

I've mentioned this, but so long as you touch either button for a moment first (as in touch and then stop touching) before touching both (presuming you've left it at the default both buttons to activate) it works every time (for me, so far anyway).

At least in my case---I think that the 5 to 7 second warmup is a bit misleading. This is just a convection vape issue. The light is letting you know the heater is at temp, but the material in the bowl is still cold. It takes a few moments of pulling the heated air through it to warm it up. That said, the FF2 does a better job of this than the FF1 did. With the FF1 the first hit was often just a warm up and not a hit at all. FF2, if I take it long and slow enough, is fine. And tasty!

That abv dose not look evenly vaped even with stiring imo. Definitely bits of green.

The Lotus hits are great, but they contain vaporized plant material, and are hot even thru a vaporbong, the FF2 is icy cold without a vaporbong.

I get that the ff2 has cool vapor which is a major plus, but i dont understand what you are saying about the lotus? Of coarse its vaporized plat matter, so is the ff2, thats a bad thing?

I would me very satisfied with that ABV. It's not conduction, so keep that in mind. Even then some conduction vapes don't evenly Vape unless you crank the heat.
What ive found alot of the time the 'unvaped material' is stems that were in the grind.

Ok... I got my FF2 last week and have spent some time with it and love it. Let me tell you my whole long story and if you don't want to read me rambling, you can skip to the end. Chatty Cathy is here-that FF2 hit that I just took must be working!

I bought the original Firefly 3 weeks before they announced the FF2. What?! I seriously KNEW that was going to happen when I ordered it. I couldn't wait though. I had just gotten my medical license and I wanted to finally get a vaporizer that I was going to like. I had tried the Vapor Brothers box and a few other old school portables before the tech got so good. I never loved any of them. I am not a good smoker. I have weak lungs and smoke bothers me so I haven't ever really used marijuana as a daily thing and I never got very medicated when I did because I barely inhaled. SO! When I decided to spend some money and get a portable vaporizer, I automatically thought the Pax 2 was the best so I almost didn't even look at anything else. My friend asked me if I knew about the Firefly and I didn't so I checked it out. After finding out that the FF excelled in taste, I knew that's what I wanted. That's why I never really liked any of the other vaporizers that I tried. They all tasted like burnt toast. When my Firefly arrived, I knew we were going to be friends forever. The taste was great and it was perfect for me to use at home to medicate. 3 weeks later, they announced the Firefly 2! I knew that I had to get it. If it was everything that the Firefly was and better, it was certainly going to be perfect for me.

The things that I was excited about while waiting for the FF2 to arrive was the lack of a screen needed on the bottom of the bowl. The OGFF had that screen and no matter how much I fussed and tried to keep it clean, it always looked like there was bud under the edges. Now that I have it, I am every bit as happy about it as I thought I would be. The glass bowl is so slick and smooth and the bottom metal piece also feels nice. It meets right at the edge so there isn't much room there for anything to get caught. I keep a brush with me and clean it out after every bowl. If you don't like to be as meticulous as that, I don't think it would be too hard to wipe it out once a day or every couple of days depending on how much you use it and that would be fine.

Another improvement that I was excited about was that there were no more grooves in the lid for the vapor path. Those grooves made it so that you could get plant matter in your mouth while inhaling if you did it too hard. Nobody likes that. So fine-you learned how to inhale so you don't get plant in your mouth so it's no big deal, right? Oh but then you would have to tell everyone a big long schpiel about how to inhale. So this new lid design has no grooves. There is also a screen in the mouthpiece that catches any plant that makes it down there. I love not worrying about getting any plant in my mouth. I think that was the biggest thing that I didn't like about OGFF.

No more grooves also means, easier to clean! It really is as easy as wiping down the top lid, the body and wiping out the bowl-all with alcohol.I use the brush to clean the bowl between sessions and I also brush down the body and lid so I haven't had to take alcohol to it yet and I've been using it for a week. I use a 6" flux brush so it is easy on the hand. That smaller brush is great for portability but do yourself a favor and get a flux brush. They are great. Those little toothpicks they gave us will be able to deep clean the bowl when you need it. It is easy to clean out the little vapor hole and mouthpiece area if you have a little toothpick or just use that little brush from both the top of the vape and from the mouthpiece area. Overall, I think this vape is super easy to clean.

Battery life was also a big thing that Firefly Vapor said that they improved so I was excited about that. The OGFF was terrible with battery life. You could not take that thing out of the house in my opinion. If you were going to be somewhere with electricity and you wanted to bring your charger, that was doable but it was not made for going out on the town or a party. The OGFF was also very heavy, which again, made it not very portable. The FF2 was advertised to be much lighter with better battery life AND an extra battery included. They definitely listened to the main complaints about the OGFF when they were designing the FF2! They really did address everything. They also redesigned the battery slightly so that it has a little tab it get it out with! If you had the OGFF, you will know how annoying it was to get that battery out. The tab on the new batteries make it easy! It's a little thing but it makes a difference. So- battery life... YES! I could only get like 10-15 pulls MAX off the OGFF battery. The FF2 battery lasted me so long that I can't even say how long. Several hours of on and off use. So with the extra battery they included, you can get a good amount of usage from the FF2 before you run out of battery. As far as recharging on the go, the FF2 is able to be recharged with a usb cable and the charger base. I went camping this weekend and was able to connect the charger base to an external battery pack and charge it easily on the table as we hung around the campfire. The OGFF would've had to be charged off my car battery if I even had the car charger that cost an extra $30. The ability to connect to a battery pack allowed me to sit there with it near me and keep it charging on the base. This factor combined with the improved battery life make this a much more portable vaporizer. The battery life of the two batteries together is still not as good as the battery life that I get from a Pax 2 charge, but it is much improved and makes battery life not much of an issue at all. The only reason that I consider it a slight issue is because you do have to 'think' about battery life and with the Pax 2, you just don't.

Well because I brought the Pax 2 into this, I may as well make my comments. There really is no comparison between the two. They are two different vapes that excel in different ways. I am very glad that I have them both. Oh yea! Did I forget to mention? I ended up buying a Pax2 to hold me over in the preorder period. I had to sell my original FF to fund the FF2 and was without a vape for just a few days before I broke down and ordered the Pax 2. The Pax 2 is great for taking out on the town or to parties. It is easy to load and I don't mix it or fuss with it at all once it is packed. It is easy to hit. I just have to tell people where the mouthpiece is and they can hit it. I can use the plant matter until it is fully vaped without having problems getting a hit or noticing any bad taste. I don't have to worry about the battery at all. I have never had it die on me. I charge it at night and then go all day. I think the Firefly is perfect to use in a relaxed environment. It is a classy experience using a FF2. It is nice to sit down and take some puffs and enjoy the flavor. The flavor from both the OGFF and the FF2 are unbeatable. I would describe the flavor from the Pax 2 like this. "Yea.. it takes good, ok, fine, not bad, not toasty, yea it's good." When talking about the flavor from FF, I get excited! My eyes light up and I take a deep breath just thinking about it. I would probably say something like "Oh. My. God. You are going to love it so much ohmygoditssogood!!" So there's a little difference there. ;) To me, that's the biggest difference. I want my herb to taste good. I want to inhale something delicious.

To prep the herb, I grind it in a 4 piece Santa Cruz Shredder. This was what people recommended with the OGFF and it works the same with the FF2. I read the instruction and they suggest a course grind or even just breaking apart the bud but I think it needs to be a medium grind. You can experiment with what works best for you. I fill it just up to the top of the bowl and then tamp it down lightly. You don't want it packed so tight that you can't get a pull, but it also can't be so loose that it flies around. I notice that after 3-4 pulls, I like to open the lid, give it a little stir and lightly tamp. THEN, because of a suggestion from someone at Firefly, I put the concentrate pad on top of the bud. As the bud dries out and becomes more vaped, it gets harder to get a nice hit from it. The concentrate pad holds it down and acts kind of like the Pax pusher does. I'm not sure if anyone talked about this is earlier messages, but let me know if you try it. You don't have to do this but in order to get good hits toward the back end of the bowl, you have to open the lid up and tamp the bowl frequently. The concentrate pad makes it so you don't have to do that. I think it works great.

I haven't tried using the concentrate pad yet but I talked to someone from Firefly about a couple of things and she told me that a very tiny amount of wax goes a long way. She also said that when the bowl gets sticky, you can clean it with a little white vinegar on a q-tip. I will probably give this a shot later today.

So... you made it through my words or skipped to the end. Congratulations!
TLDR; I love the Firefly 2. Buy it if you want the best tasting vapor that you can get from a portable vape. I'm so happy that it's finally here!

@Slow Draw McGraw check out the picture again its very unevenly vaped bits of green all over. It definitely has hot spots even with his extensive stiring after every hit or 2. Its not stems its unvaped herb clearly. Convection i agree tends to leave things a bit lighter, but my Apollo leaves its completely brown toasted every time, which is a convection vape. If you go to the milanna thred you have to stir the bowls too but they come out completely evenly vaped, frim pics i have seen. If you have to stir 5 times for 10 hits and still not fully vaped that's a major issue.

Consensus seems its great flavor and very cool vapor +1

Great if not best for concentrates +1

Can pick up and put down come back later on demand +1

I'll go the Apollo thread and look for your ABV pics. Is that the Vape that has the huge hot chamber.

Are these hardware issues, or firmware issues?

I think it's firmware, but I don't know for sure. I've replicated it in two production units. Seems to happen (to me anyway) when a battery is left in a partially-charged state, in the FF, for more than a few hours. (If I use up a battery in one marathon session the indicators seem to work fine.)

I got the red flash regularly in unit 1 and never, so far, in unit 2. (I get no light at all....the battery is totally depleted in those cases.) I know the red light works on unit 2 because I've gotten the solid red "overheated" light several times.

Doesn't appear to be a widespread problem and thanks to two batteries it's a non-issue for me because I keep the spare charged. But it's weird behavior nevertheless. :hmm:

Aaah, that makes sense...I usually let it sit partially charged. I thought it was best to keep batteries 40-80% charged (from the Mighty thread).

I asked vape world of they would get any soon because I considered ordering from them. They made it sound like they wouldn't get any until Firefly fulfilled their preorders. They said it's looking like June, but they weren't 100% sure.

I asked vape world a couple weeks ago when I should get my order and they said the firefly is set to be released late May hopefully I don't wait to much longer to save $20
I figured I was in the second batch and wanted to see if anyone who ordered before me from vape world received theirs yet

I think they're scheduled to hit retail in late-spring/early summer. There's a chance that the second batch of pre-orders and the retail order are the same if it's a bigger batch. I'm really not familiar with this type of stuff, but maybe the first batch were sort of a "test run" and the second batch will be the "main run." They haven't closed pre-orders though. We don't even know how many pre-orders there are.

I'm rambling a little bit now so I'm gonna take a break....
