thanks i did see that but economy shipping is $11.17 which is slightly ridiculous....

the shipping price does seem high compared to the price of the grinder, but around 20 dollars total for a top notch two piece grinder isn't so bad. if i hadn't already invested in my sharpstone some years ago i would buy it without hesitation, volcano grinders are great.

I emailed the store about the shipping and a rep offered to reduce the shipping down to $5; she added instructions on how to proceed. Very nice. I ordered the volcano grinder yesterday, I should have it I guess sometime next week. Won't be able to use it until the following week as my daughter will be with me for the week but I'll have a little review after I pull my toys back out from locked storage.

I have a theory, that the more finely you grind the herb (like Wat says.. more oxidation) the more rapidly these trichomes might deteriorate.

It's the oxidation. That's why I store under vacuum. Things stay fresh for months, years. I have 2+ year old material that's fine and dandy.

degraders of thc are light, heat, and oxygen. keep it cool, dark, and tight

Glad you like the grinder. It's Head Chef, BTW. The name and logo on the top add to stealth (just a spice grinder, officer), and it has the concave bottom that can serve as a herb holder. I've been using mine and have yet to scratch the finish, but I do wish the Mini was available in the annodized finish, like their 56mm two piece. Regardless, I think it's the best deal going for a grinder this size.

Head Chef... right... See what happens when you're using product and reviewing...? It is a very nice unit. Shipped very fast and was cheap. Hadn't thought of the Chef thing being an excuse, but of course that works.

I like it better than the MnB Nano. Partly due to the magnet. The cutting seemed smoother than my old Nano. I could be wrong on that. Assuming that one of these upcoming monmths I actually receive my new Nano, maybe I can do a side by side.

So I just got the tiny, MFLB specific grinder that Puffitup is starting to make. I got to say I'm super impressed! It has far more teeth than any conventional grinder I've ever seen, no posts or magnets in the middle, and a hell of a fine grind.

I'd love to see this teeth size with far more rows in a scaled up grinder. I like to grind up 1-3 days worth at once so a bigger grinder is good for me.

This little guy really does produce the finest grind I've yet seen from a conventional grinder.

I knew if you got it you'd love it. I dont put whole bud in it, but I go from the 4 piece medium down to that one for the MFLB. (A ritual I enjoy)

Hey FC, just dropping my thoughts on a purchase I made recently. An electric "grinder."

I'd been using different 4pc and 2pc grinders, and never got the consistency I wanted. None of them could get the herb fine enough. I read of people using coffee grinders, but coffee grinders seemed huge and cumbersome. Fortunately, I stumbled upon the Electric Green Herb Shredder and bought one right away.

This thing is a monster! I drop full nugs in and hold down the button until I get the consistency I want (the finer the better, usually for me). And it's small, easily tucks away in a cabinet or cupboard.

Check it out, I hope it helps someone that's in the market for one.

I'm getting tired of my space case 2 piece. I've had a sharpstone 4 piece before too but I always have the same problem where the herb gets all gunked up and the grinder is rendered useless until and iso soak. it's a pain in the ass! What can I do? I know smaller amounts in there, etc. but is there a grinder that doesn't get stuck? I don't wanna use a coffee grinder.

Your herb probably just needs to dry out a little more if its constantly getting really gunked up.

Whats wrong with the SC? I have a 2 piece medium Ti SC and it works very well, and if it does get gunked up, which isnt very often, then you do a qwiso run and get a bit of hash if you hate wasting.

sharpstone isnt very good from my experience, gave me a bunch of metal shavings.

get some thing like Mendo Mulcher, Space Case, etc. but I must ask you one thing.... are you looking to collect keif?

The "the pain in the ass" of maintaining you grinder means that you are likely using some good herb.
Using Iso, and cleaning the grinder is a necessary part of vaping, as necessary as cleaning wands, or units.
I got some meds this weekend, that are dry and crispy.. but it left my SpaceCase sitcky, and with crystals on the walls. I even have already noticed that darkening in the threads! Pain in the ass?... yes. Work.. yes- but later when it gets too sticky.
If you are not putting bud in the grinder that has little stems etc.. and the bud is dry as recommended by NYCdeisel...
and the grinder STILL gets sticky... please send me a sample!

Every few months I decide that my small 2 piece SC needs a cleaning so I let it sit a few hours in dollar store grade rubbing alcohol in a zip lock bag - there's no need for ISO for this and ISO is more expensive. After which the SC is as good as new. In my experience electric coffee bean grinders will prove more problematic - even AVB that I grind down to powder consistency for brownies tends to gunk up the innards. Such is the nature of our favorite vegetable. Don't think you'll find a better grinder than the SC although I am curious about the "Cosmic" which is a direct offshoot of the SC designed by former SC developers. Either or cleaning is always going to be part of the deal.

I have an old Blender, that has a crack in it so it is not good for liquids any longer.
I was going to throw it out, but Patty reminded me of the times I had used it for weed.
I use my ABV straight when in chewy stuff like brownies or cookies.
If I ABV straight (no oil/butters) into soft cake like muffins, I hit it with the blender. It becomes like talc.
Ohhh... my point. It too must be taken apart and cleaned after about a dozen ABV "grinds"

It's unavoidable. You're grinding some pretty sticky stuff and it's gonna stick to the grinder to some degree. You don't have to soak the grinder unless you're going to reclaim what's stuck to it (and you'd better remove the o-ring before soaking). Dipping a toothbrush in some alcohol, you can clean off a grinder pretty fast, unless there's some long term heavy duty accumulation on it. I can usually clean 2 or 3 grinders in just a few minutes with this method. A screen grinder, in particular, needs frequent cleaning, if you're actually going to make use of the screen. I know a guy who won't clean his 4 pc., and I told him he may as well remove the screen, since it's so clogged up no kief can pass through.

Rubbing alcohol can be isopropyl or ethyl alcohol, but what you find in drugstores for $1 or less is generally labelled ISO. I've used 70% and 91% and can't tell the difference. Denatured is higher priced, but doesn't really make it quicker or easier.

That 'Electric Green' looks pretty good, but unless it's a lot easier to clean than a regular blade coffee grinder, I can't see paying more than about $15 for one.

Don't get me wrong, grinding is definitely a chore. The electric grinder doesn't do anything "easier," really, it was just the only option that fit my needs (powdery fine herb). And if it fulfills a NEED, then it's definitely worth the maintenance IMO

I like grinding; it's satisfying on a tactile level especially with a quality grinder. Also there's the minor skill you develop knowing how many turns until it's just right. Then you get to smash down the grinder on your coffee table to liberate the kief and then collect it with an index card. It's ritual; part of the fun.

I give my small grinder a iso soak about every 3 weeks. Even sticky, dry herb will eventually start to stick it up.

Now my mediums SC works, but no matter how much I grind, it does not get my herb fine enough for the LB. Now my little no name grinder (not the tiny LB grinder, but a 1-1.25" one) gets my herb into sawdust, which I love. The only time I use the SC now is to grind some real sticky stuff up some so it makes it easier to grind in the smaller one.

I think I need to try the small SC, which I should have in the first place
