The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

Evening all.

After following the helpful suggestions here, I've gotten my wand working much better. Setting it deeper did help. Currently using it at about 330c and it's almost performing the same as using a torch now. Much easier to use when I'm out and about though.

So why did Mad Heaters go away from the Revolve-style double spiral in the stem?

I just got my new T2 and I love the way it heats with the new Wand adapter (although the whole rubber band setup seems a bit janky).

I like the big fat stem, it reminds me of my favorite Dynavap stem, my Joe King Assassin with a Simrell Stinger attached, but I don't really know why they went away from that sort of double vortex design that effectively doubles the length of the cooling path. With all the space in the new stem it seems like a bit of a missed opportunity ... although I guess it's a lot easier to produce and easier to understand how to use ... but I already put all that effort into understanding how the Revolve stem works ....

@Brenyo, would it be possible to design a longer spiral intercooler for the V1, similar to the one used on the V2? Would be nice as part of the V1 upgrade.

Loving my V2 so far, this thing is amazing :freak:
This would be so cool. Could be a premium update or something like that.

Would be more cooling than the direct path with a easier draw.

As someone coming into this with next to no knowledge on induction heaters, is there a list of recommended ones? I’ve seen arguments for the wand, Flare, and YLL, but which are compatible with the tempest 2.0?

YLL & the Flare do not work with the Tempest unfortunately. YLL doesn't fit the head, and the Flare doesn't detect the Tempest properly so only uses low wattage

The wand is great for the Tempest though. You can get 1 heat extraction consistently once you get the wand adaptor set up properly

The wait was LONG but all Laughing Buddha now.

Running the Chonky Stem V2 with the hypertip and cap, call it the Franky. The large heat sink mass of the V2 stem works well with the oversize head and repeated heating of Ti cap. Good long sesh and deep rosin hole.
The hyper stem fits my 14mm water pipes better than V2 and is a good straight shot open air stem for one heat extraction (half bowl), fits my hand better.
The new head is wanderful, the wider bowl gives great extraction and holds heat well. I like my V1 and will not be changing parts.

Can I get a quick rundown on how to remove the ball screen to replace the balls? How much does it fit? A whole bag of the ones from MH or less?

I cannot deny that for me the vapour temperature its a big matter.
The revolve and tempest body/vapour pathway are the best stems for cooling vapour on the market, with the release of the tempest v2, the revolve/tempest V1 still the king, the direct tube is what we always have seen on the other brands, dynavap, simrell, vestratto, bfg and also custom stems they all had a direct tube, a condenser and the intercooler inside since the beginning of the dhv I see a step backward from MH here.It was the water division between MH and anyone else.It was like a look from the top on the others.
The new tempest is great, top notch, best you can get 2025 and relatively cheap compared to the last gen and also compared to others modern TEDs.
The road to make something more affordable is the opposite of build something more premium.
I would happily pay a premium price for anything that Madheaters would do. Im death sure as many others here would buy without thinking twice too, we work for it.
I really hope that madheaters bring back what brought them to the top, it were the best stems ever.
It may sounds as critical but its more a brainstorm and a push forward to MH. if MH won't be doing it anymore, nobody will....
Best King's Charles birthday holiday for you all.

If anyone is looking for a cheap leather case I think I have found a good option

It's a leather pen holder I got from amazon

The measuments are 16.5L x 4.3W x 4.3H centimetres (6.5 x 1.7 inches). It's pretty much the same size as the T1 leather case
I just bought the same sleeve. Fits perfect. I use it for my v1 tempest and the mad heaters sleeve for v2

Oh, well glad to have asked 😂 I could have sworn I’d seen videos of people using it with the Flare. Then I saw a comment from Brenyo about some version of the Flare working with the tempest, buuuut that was months ago from what I can tell. It may not even be out yet 😩

I put a full weekend of use on this guy after it was delivered earlier last week. Holy hell it is a step up from the v1! There's a difference between reading experiences on here and then getting to try yourself. I just got my Tafee bowle back and it barely got touched!

Nice job, Brenyo! I put the rubies in and have settled around 595F. 610F pushed the limit on my wand where I was worried it would combust. Handles joint puffs or full bowl clearing in a single hit from there no problem. Love it!

Right fucked me up yesterday and caused me to make a massive meal of crab leg cocktail, boudin stuffed jalapeños, ribeye, and pan seared scallops with rosemary and garlic butter. I was up all night with the shits from all that richness but goddamn what a day.

Sounds great 😂

Which wand adapter do you use? V2 or the glass one. I think i will try the rubies now, too.

I kept the original in but pushed it down deeper so the tops of the groove on the oven/bowl lined up. I still had two of the wand stand adapters from my two T1s so it keeps the glass clear of contact with anything and works great imo. I can take a pic either later today or sometime tomorrow if you need a visual reference?

I need to read back why this wasn't the recommended method but unless I could start a fire or something im sticking with it... I tried to have an open mind but I really dislike the v2 adapter and don't see myself using it.
