BAKx - bake all kinds

3migo

Is this a...what day is this?
I wonder: if someone with absolutely zero experience and less then zero knowledge about "mods" is interested in this device how much of a learning curve is to be expected?

Does a mod involve a lot of fiddling to install? Or is it plug and play?
Is there a lot of research/comparing needed to select the right one for any specific device?

Is the usage/interface similar in all mods or are there big differences between different brands?

I never even considered or looked into mods and then this turns up...
I really like a lot about it (formfactor, full glass bowl, how it handles full nugs, performance, versatility, convection-conduction hybrid, ...) but the fact that it needs a mod scares me a bit.
I really don't want to end up buying several different mods in the search for the "one" and in all honesty don't feel like doing the required Mod-research ('what are they, how to use them and how to select the right one').

So basically i'm asking if there is a full and fool proof recipe?
Like:
-Buy the Bakx
-get mod X
-screw together
-read the MOD-manual
-aaaaand.... you're golden!!! Vape away!

Or is some fiddling, installing, calibrating and the occasional cursing in despair inevitable before one gets to be a happy vaper?
I have no experience with mods whatsoever, and I found it to be pretty easy to get going. I had to make one slight adjustment to the resistance after my first bowl, but that was it.

If you follow the Lamart BAKx guide, you should be able to get it running on Arctic Fox with very little headache.

With anything, end game does not exist because of innovation.

In a way i agree but otoh for some things i think it is possible. Or at least one can decide for one self to consider certain alterations as 'their' endgame.
Initially i was sure this was true for vaporizers but i fooled myself once too often to know that is an illusion and i'll probably never find my endgame vaporizer, too many options and also because of innovation like you say. But i am still hopefully searching for the ultimate device nevertheless... One day...;)

For other things i (try to) believe it is possible (some selfcontrol will be essential tho)
For example:
i did decide (before even recieving it) that my new grinder will be my endgame grinder-wise.
One and done!
Watch me! :myday:

Sure, there's a couple more toptier ones out there that look and perform great (and i'd like to try out if i am honest) and no doubt new innovations will be released...
But if this one works like i hope/expect it to... and if it's as durable and undestructable as i think...
then i'll consider it worthy to be my end game tool for that task!

I hope it will be easier for something like a grinder: a good, consistent grind and easy handling is essential, if that is covered there's not that much to perfect except maybe more ergonomic design or esthetic changes.
The one i bought even has the fun-factor covered so what more can i expect from a grinder?
A collection of grinders sure can be nice but imho this will have less to no impact on the vaping experience/the high/vape signature.

So i tell myself i will find and enjoy the wonders of the illustrious endgame-experience at least for items like a grinder or say a torch (one day maybe an IH)...
Fingers crossed! 🤞

*Tubo firmware would be even simpler though if following the instructions... And there is a list of the compatible mods although they can be tough to find, Evic Dual is a popular one that many testers use for the BAK and it can still be found

I have a nice Lost Vape GRUS I have torn apart but my soldering iron wasn't strong enough to desolder the 510 so I can flash the board with AF. I swear my leads are mig welded or something. Would be nice having that with one of these on it.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
I've seen a few people using the Joyetech eVic-VTC mini with the BAK. Does this mod work well with the BAK?

Also, question on the whole artic fox/red panda thing. This seems only necessary if you want an autofire feature that allows you to have a session that goes through a set pattern of temp stepping without having to hold a button. If all you want is to pulse the button or hold the button down at a set temp then do you really need AF to enjoy this vape?
My mod knowledge is very limited, although I've tried to learn more but have never taken to a mod setup enough to put the time in.

I cant comment on the eVic-VTCA because ive never used one, but this is a vape that really requires autofire because essentially its a session vape, although you can use it on demand by removing the cap. Now that dna supports autofire i think its the best choice for the BAK, and its the easiest to just pick up and use because programming in escribe is a lot simpler than setting up af, red panda or evic.

Mine should be delivered next week, will be using Evic VTC Dual / ELEAF Rim-C (Arctic fox)
somebody in discord server confirmed Rim-C works well too

pay attention , VTC DUAL needs to be set around 0.210 (locked resistance) and not 0.200 .. this mod also runs the tetra higher than usual ..
Rim-C usually pretty much accurate so use 0.200 .. try it etc'

each trying needs to be set with around 180C-200C, not higher, it's a conduction device etc'

Nice!
How did you manage to get one already if i may ask?

Oh, and another question:
i thought i read a while ago that you were starting a (rather long if i remember right) t-break?
Not that it's any of my business (and i might be mistaken) but how on earth will you combine the purchase of a genuine beast with these ( quite radical) break-plans? :sherlock:
Surely you can't have this delivered without experimenting with it?
That would require super natural powers?!

Anyhoo, you probably wonder where i am going here?
Well, all this because i feel like i might be able to help out?
Offer a helping hand!
What if, to easy your suffering, i dm you my address and wire you the money and you just have them to send it to me instead and i'll keep it safe for you during your break...
Just an act of pure altruism you know... only to unburden you, to make it easier,...
No strings attached, promise!

Think about it! ;)

I'll explain ;)
basically I've had during the years, all the vapes of lamart. flam, straw, tubox, tetra p80, piro, and now bakx
my goal is to quit completely from vaporization . having a beer from time to time and that's it, and maybe buying 10gr-20gr every 6 months
why?
i'm gonna save around 6000$ a year
but
I don't think i'll ever sell BAKx/TP80
I'll keep them
I'll sell another vapes

Got me around 5gr for testing purposes

I don't think that I'm in position of spending 6000$ a year for cannabis.

Having a break before bakX arrives. Already 45 hours without weed.

I am a tester of the BAKx basically. the last one or so. thanks Snax and lamart ;)
happy to complete the lamart vapes serie!!!

Yes, that's what I've been using, what you'll see with my BAK here, it works pretty great with the heat sink and Tubo firmware, quick simple setup with the bak manual, just requires frequent battery swapping, not a problem for me being used to TP80 anyway

My mod knowledge is very limited, although I've tried to learn more but have never taken to a mod setup enough to put the time in.

arctic fox and red panda (color version) are just different and work on more mods, they have a limited 60 second auto fire, allow you to configure settings on the computer... Tubo firmware allows a much longer cruise and more settings through the mod menu, logically a better match for Lamart products, it is not just about the cruise! The setup and configuration is geared more to our needs, whereas other firmwares are geared more towards e-cig use (sur my evic is one that is similar to tubo my evic)... You actually can use BAK on demand, it is nicer to not have to hold the button down cruising, but the biggest benefit of uploading custom firmware to your mod instead of the stock firmware (aside from all the extra settings and cruising) is the symbol ability to adjust the auto shut off, most mods have it in the stock firmware as only 10 or 15 seconds of holding the button for a hit, that is not long enough at all, you would have to keep pressing the button, yes cruising you don't press the button at all just the first time and then again to turn it off ahead of the timer, so these are related features ultimately...

Meanwhile the mods with DNA chips offer much further customization, precision with computer setup and graph statistics etc.

Ok, i understand. That's a lot of money indeed. Probably isn't an option for you but growing my own is what enables me to endulge like i do.
Doing that for years, only very occaisionally had to buy when i ran out so yeah, that makes a huge difference. Certainly with the amounts i use i'd go bankrupt... But if that isn't an option and weed is illegal and expensive it's a whole other deal ofcourse...
:( I'm sorry that this is what forces you to (consider to) quit.

Also understand. But still think it will be hard to have these great devices around and not use them.
Otoh: plenty people around that use sporadic or only micro-dose in weekends or something so maybe you'll find a balance there once your tolerance is in check.
Enjoy the Bakx-testing and good luck with the break!

And if you ever change your mind about selling... :D

I bought the eVic to use with my DTV5 before prefering the ease of the Core e-rig. At time I had access to a computer with windows and was able to load the AF software. I only have access to chromebooks now and have unfortunately been down this rabbit hole before. I wish these firmware companies would make a version you could load on an iphone. It would make it a lot easier for folks like me to sync. I learned that DNA mods use a program called escribe, but if I understand, you still need a mac or windows pc to load it up.

Not to open up a plywood discussion again, I was wondering what some of the betas think of the acrylic version? Are there benefits with going acrylic?

This vape intrigues me after watching so many videos of people blasting massive clouds with a glass airpath. I also have access to some bubble hash and temple ball shit. I think the BAK would be great for this.

the acrylic doesn't matter as long as you've got cuts in the wood, so the heat can clear away from the sides a bit.. (and oh yeah he did a lot of cuts on the wood.. as you can see from pics/videos)
because the acrylic sits on the wood and it will cause the heat to be stored more, that's why you see a lot of cuts on the wood, so far nobody complain from the testers.

btw that's why there's cuts on all his vapes.... clearing the heat from the sides

yeah it seems like one of the best portable glass conduction vape so far hence good for hash etc'

Yeah the acrylic paint actually helps stay a bit cooler compared to a hardwood version that will retain more heat to the touch... Acrylic also allows you to get some crazy colors and swirly designs without shelling out for expensive dyed burl woods... Fresh paint could have a bit of a smell at first though not dissimilar from fresh cut wood in that regard breaking in with heat cycles...

fooorgot smth ...
you can't edit wattage without set 4 clicks from main screen = Edit
so
menu (menu+plus) > Interface > Clicks > Set 4 as 'Edit'
go back to main screen
4 Clicks > Minus > Minus > Minus > PWR set to 70w or 75w, some people set 75w (Hey Snaxie ;) ) and it saves some seconds until it's ready from cold.

TCR 185 is already set in M1/M2/M3 so no need to do anything

how to lock resistance:
menu>Coils>Manage> in TUBO field reach to 0.200 and with plus or minus button just lock it, see the lock sign, >>> set 'Check' to No.

enjoy ;)

I vape less than 10g/6 months and I still consider myself as someone who vapes cannabis. I just do one or two bowls a week. Cannabis is laughably cheap when 0.2g sends you to the moon.

you dropped here a serious thing to think about. but as I know myself, at least in the beginning of the break, I'll have to keep my environment cannabis free, and then we'll see. thanks for this input!!
