Thank you again for all the help and suggestions.
The WPA and dosing capsules seem to be the best extras for the Roffu @Mattater and those Molicel P28A seem to be the duck's guts as far as the 18650s are concerned.
Does the $99 Onyx come with glass chamber?
It sure does!
I also saw a video review of the ruffo a week ago that said not to charge the batteries in the device itself,
Those users don't know shit from clay and obviously do not own a multi-meter, I have always charged my batteries in the Roffu with no troubles as the Roffu cuts off at Low Battery at about 3.2v and is fully charged at just under 4.2v...all sweet for battery longevity.
The Roffu isn't a dodgy cheap faulty product, and you should only charge outside of the device if it's a convenience thing.
I agree, it is really a pain compared to just hooking up a USB-C.
The cool thing about this device is is so customizable
I do like the Roffu on a j-hook but have been using the glass mouthpiece a fair bit lately, nice to have options.

Would you have a link for the glass mouth piece or ia it the same as the wpa i saw? I grabbed the glass tube because i didnt see it included in the package, honestly, i dont mind having an extra.

I have seen the dosing caps, but i wanna try it just straight up first before i go adding a ton of stuff, but the glass Mp sounds nice.

I do like a bigger bowl without the caps when just chilling at home but the dosing caps are great for quick swaps on the go and can add conduction to the mix for a different experience when not in a hurry.
Here is the WPA/glass attachment,
The code JINGLE gets a couple of bucks off the WPA

It's a solved issue, unless you buy a REALLY cheap or faulty product.

Problem is, any product with a lithium battery can be “faulty”, how can you tell, other then “faith”?

Odds are certainly better with higher end products (usually cost more), but even expensive Apple laptops and iPhones can be faulty. Sure, we are allsurrounded by lithium batteries, and I don’t worry all that much, but I’ll increase my odds of not having a problem by using a proper external charger for individual lithium cells, like “unprotected” flat top 18650’s, which are not officially supported by most of the main battery manufacturers due to liability issues, their batteries are made mostly for battery packs. The exception is Molicel brand, that openly sells individual cells for devices, not sure how they protect themselves from possible liabilities. I tend to buy and recommend this brand. There are “protected cells”, usually only in the “button top” version, these include a protection circuit on the top, which makes them taller, so they don’t fit in many devices. These are usually sold for products like LED flashlights, that don’t have onboard protection circuits.

The Roffu like most other Chinese manufactured devices are built to a “price point”, which of course includes the onboard BMS (battery management system). The quality of any components used in a high volume assembly line product are unknown to the end user.

Many of the products we use, that have non replaceable batteries, use LiPo batteries, which are a safer chemistry then lithium ion cells, so that’s another factor.

and you should only charge outside of the device if it's a convenience thing.

Sorry, I disagree. I advise “you should only charge a battery in a device, if no other choice”.

When home I do at times, top off my Roffu, as my USB current meter shows me this device is only drawing 1 amp, and the device stays cool when charging. I never charge the battery in my Tinymight V1, as that device draws 2 amps, which is a totally fine charge rate for an open air EXTERNAL charger, but in a sealed up compartment like the TM, the batteries get excessively hot at the faster 2 amp charge rate.

In the end, folks will have to make their own safety decisions, hopefully based on some personal research, not listening to me or any other online stranger. I try to use a simple formula…. RISK versus REWARD….

Vape safe everyone!

You do you, and what makes you comfortable. You are talking about defective batteries not defective or inadequate charge circuits, though. In this case it wouldn't really be different in the device or in a proper charger. Bad battery is a bad battery. Bad charge circuit can make a good battery a bad battery.

Roffu doesn't have a bad charge circuit, nor is it difficult to make one to a "price point". They are cheap as chips, and I have several around for my various projects.

Like I said, a lithium ion charge circuit isn't alien tech.

Not sure where I mentioned anything about defective batteries, I mentioned there is a difference in the chemistry of a LIPO battery compared to a lithium, and detailed the difference between some types.

A quality charger like my SkyRC MC3000, on the market since 2015, is going to have higher quality components than the BMS in an inexpensive vape device. And since it’s not enclosed, the batteries will charge cooler, not to mention the various safety features, like user set temperature cutoff, time cutoff, over temp shutdown, etc.

Like you said: “cheap as chips”. anyone of these components can in the end, be responsible for burning down your home. Including the ones in my more expensive charger, though I’d rather bet on that, then the ones inside an economy charger or device. I never charge any of my lithium batteries unattended, and have purchased extinguishers specifically designed for a lithium fire, just in case.

Better SAFE, then SORRY …. Respect the power of a lithium battery!

Knowledge conquers fear!

For anyone wanting to learn more about batteries, click the link in my sig. Also googling lithium battery fires, can find lots of “entertaining” content.

There has been a noticeable increase in eBike fires especially in the recent NYC news, as many deliveries are via eBikes. Loss of life, and entire buildings. Guess what in almost every case caused these lithium ion fires?
Faulty chargers…. :(

Noticed this CRACK in the “top cap”, from my SILVER Roffu. Perhaps a HEAT issue with whatever plastic they used.
Send this photo to your contact at XVape for explanation, and please advise me on how to get a replacement.
Thanks!

Well the jury is in….. the verdict:

Received email 3:06am EST:

“Thanks for your wait patiently , we agree to sent a Monthpiece replacement to you ,
pls kindly waiting for further 2-3 days ,
we will provide tracking no. to you once sent out . Thanks
XVAPE™ Support Team”

Guess I WON the case, but I will use the replacement, in the same low temp, moderate use as before, a limited test.
I thanked them and offered to return the “cracked” top cap to them, if they want to examine the materials.

They say I have to buy one.
It seems like I am communicating with China.
Why is that?

I cant say I am happy with my experience with Product Support.
Someone explained earlier that the admin is in California, engineering and manufacturing in China, so if your issue got passed to engineers it may get response from China, or something like that.

It occurs to me that your issue may not have been seen as "now a failure" yet. May not have been viewed by the right eyeballs?
May not have had (yet) @LesPlenty go to bat on your behalf.
Now that they have replaced one for having this issue, that may bode well for you. And maybe a policy change, or at least a new spec on the material that cracked.
FC mojo can manifest in unexpected ways.
I hope this works out for you.

Thank you. It was never this easy before. That’s great. Here’s some awful pics from my testing chair. Lol

So my Roffu WPA came in from @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd . All I can say is wow.

This accessory is literally a game changer for this vape. Have been exclusively using it on a water piece with the WPA, but will try some direct draws and some dry glass but the flavor is definitely better than the default chamber loading method.

I've have been using this as a mini log and have been really enjoying it! Turn it on when filling the wpa with herb and all heatsoaked when I start toking. Get like 3-5 very solid hits on the waterpiece and can get slightly better results when stiring. (Running it at Max temp).

This WPA truly makes this vape very intriguing to me, solid construction, removable battery, solid operating system, and if you look closely the chamber/heater locking mechanism is essentially a tiny injector. There is a tiny bit of technique I'm trying to figure out with the WPA but will update when I full figure that out.

Overall this WPA unlocks the Roffu and I am fully contemplating order more of these WPAs given how much better they make this vape!

Also, maybe we can get a roffu xl with an even stronger heater :D

PODS-CAPSULES for: XMax V3 Pro & XLUX Roffu

Pods never worked out for me in my various “convection” devices, but I do like the many benefits with my “conduction” devices, like S&B Mighty and Davinci IQ2.

That has changed as I’ve experimented with the Stainless Steel PODS, in my Roffu, they are the same ones used in the “XMax V3 Pro”.
In the Roffu, when using with the SS loading stem, (you remove the stem disc filter) the pods sit directly on the device’s heater. This adds a bunch of added heat conduction, and works best for me in all metrics, and all I use now.

I only have a couple of pods for my IQ2, and since I don’t use them often, I hand load them. For the Mighty, I bought the excellent loading tray from @Delta3DStudios . In my opinion based on real usage, his design is far superior to the S&B tray, and less expensive.

PROBLEM: with loading the ROFFU PODS, is how TINY they are.

SOLUTION: So, I’ve been in touch with Mike at Delta3DStudio, to make a NEW LOADING TRAY, designed for these pods. I will be mailing him a Roffu pod, so he can accurately design and build this for me and YOU!

Perhaps others have an interest in an easier way to load PODS, my Roffu Kit came with 2, that’s how I was able to experience them. Some of you may not be aware that you can contact Mike of Delta3DStudio via PM or email, and he will work with you on any potential ideas for new vape accessories that he may not have already created. I’ve bought many of his accessories for a wide range of vape devices and have never been disappointed, as well as fast shipping and excellent customer service, and his prices are extremely low.

***I will come back to this thread when the product is finished and available on his site, with a link.

@jasp3r thank you sooo much for the review. That has been my experience as well pretty much to the letter. Just better performance all around…on a water piece anyways. That’s all I use.

Also, for you guys having trouble with CS and warranty. You should really just try calling at the number @LesPlenty has posted several times. You will get one or even 2 Americans on the phone almost immediately. I called about the problem I experienced with my Roffu on Monday at 1pm est and I’m hitting my replacement Roffu as I sit here typing this to you all. Just my :2c:.

• There should be a few more reviews on my wpa coming up very soon.
• If you have ordered a wpa from me for the Roffu it has shipped.
•ALL of you that ordered.
• The remainder of them went out today
• Feel free to message me if you haven’t gotten in on one yet and want to.

Thanks for going to all that trouble to get this made @RustyOldNail ! I've been needing one of these. Does that ridged texture at the top impair the ground herb from sliding neatly in? Looks like the grooves would pick up a lot of material.

edit: and does it smell plasticy at all?

You are WELCOME!
It’s smoother than it appears in the online photo, as the actual load tray is only 2.25x2 inches. The same surface on the the older IQ2 load tray he makes is smoother, I just checked. Since I believe @Delta3DStudios makes them when you order, you could perhaps request a smoother one. Since my BCG Medium grind was so fluffy, and the pods holes are so small, instead of scraping, I just used my fingers to distribute the herb into the holes. Scraping might work better if you had a drier, finer grind, but is was fast and easy with my fingers, and all the pods were loaded equally.

No smell, he uses the proper materials for his various 3D printing projects, I’ve cleaned it with 190 ethanol.

I have just sent a follow-up message to HO saying they need to step in and help with these cracked housings as the US/China warranty sharing on a new problem is causing our end users grief.

Thanks for offering these to the community, sounds like they are working great. What is the smallest diameter WPA you can make complete with ribs...the ID of my plastic cleaning test tubes is 22mm.
@LesPlenty any idea how long the $99 and jingle sale will last?
The JINGLE will last until at least x-mas:lol: The site quite often runs a discount code of 10-20% during the year.
The $99 Onyx Grey version is not as popular as the Air Blue so they are being offered at a lower price to move stock. Therefore, I do not know how long the US$99 sale will last but will just say it is a great price and hard to pass on.
