I think you need to slow your roll bud, you've repeated yourself about three times in a row, expressing these concerns, that have been expressed many times already, and now you're spreading something that's not even true:

There is no glue, there is no glue on any o-ring, @RAG merely wondered, because they could not remove the o-rings that hold the glass mouthpiece in place (one of mine came out when I pulled out the glass mouthpiece as I had described here previously, they are not glued in) and the bottom of the cooling unit giant o-ring, but I had to call it out because you kept bringing it up lol

And yes I've mentioned the o-ring at the top of the chamber as well btw
I didn't spread anything
I am responding to others concerns
I have been talking with Mike here and elsewhere and for the most part he is being very responsive
But it was mentioned in discussion with Mike and a number of community members elsewhere the redesign and at first it was agreed no PPSU and stickers etc
None of this was implemented until we brought it up again and the stickers were still there and PPSU
Now it will be peek and no stickers

The silicone being glued I am not spreading, I am saying if there is glue as others mentioned it is strange and not great
Mike wouldn't respond to that here
He actually has responded in the other discussion after posting here that there is no glue on the orings and he is now going to reconsider the stickers holding down the magnets - which is an issue people would usually have of other vapes

I'm not spreading anything or having a go at Mike - I was asking for clarification - which he gave after I asked, but not here
In fact in the other discussion a number of people have been working with him to help him design something that will satisfy customers and he will have absolutely no issues
The reason he is making a glass version that comes from the oven is through discussions elsewhere - I believe he mentioned that here he got that after I suggested it - after I saw people here modding it like that themselves

Most of us have been trying to work with Mike and help him make a product that will be safe - and one that will not concern customers that are worried about such - these things are going to help him sell more units

There's no slander here
It's development (that in future can be done via proper beta testers) and Mike is responding and amending as a result
Good on him

Now let's see how the teardown goes so everyone can be sure the insides are solid and safe too

Honestly I'm mystified by your experience here. And by reports of flavor/smell issues of CU. So maybe something did change between
small early batch mine was from and first big production run. And I feel you. I've been burned by production models not meeting the quality of pre-production models.
It seems more likely to me that the silicone in the cu and the oring bothers some people more than others. And perhaps the plastic itself as well.

Wrt the odor some (at least @Shit Snacks that I know off) report coming from the unit itself, that's a different issue that I can't explain. My guess would be something fucked in the internals (incidentally), but perhaps a tear down will uncover the culprit is in the design as well of course.

I also think that a plastic part that needs to get redesigned because of heating dangers might create nasty odor even before it starts melting.

So I managed to get a 14mm glass thingy from a friend who's into glass so I could test the unit out properly, but the plastic taste does exist in the unit itself when heated. When it's turned off I cannot taste a plastic taste when taking a pull. The 14mm fits snugly and blocks the o-ring in the chamber so it cannot be that that gives out the plastic taste. My unit still doesn't produce any noticeable vapor unless I run it at 220 with the boost function.

To be honest at this point in time my trust in the manufacturer has evaporated, I always try to give new products a chance and the benefit of the doubt, but the fact that the manufacturer has omitted parts in the teardown that clearly exist in the unit makes me wonder what else was omitted. The fact that we had to point out or concerns of the materials several times In my opinion shows that the manufacturer doesn't take safety seriously and that makes me wonder even more about the internals of the unit. Looking forward to if anyone does a tear down.

I've emailed the reseller and manufacturer concerning all the issues I've had, but have not received a reply as of yet. If I do not receive a reply today I´ll go ahead and do a tear down of my unit and document it in either a video or pics.

Now that you talk about using it with a glass tube, the experience of using it completely changed for me, night and day, without the glass tube it would no longer be among my vaporizers.

Another thing, someone has noticed that the batteries are consumed when turned off, I already had that feeling from the beginning, but last night I put new batteries, I only did one session and this morning it didn't even turn on, they were completely spent.
Someone else?

That's quite troubling. My first unit did appear to show a drain when turned off a couple of times, but not like you describe. And I could never replicate it either. Not an issue with my current unit fortunately.

Does anyone know when the new cooling unit will be available and whether it will be sold separately? I have the Angus on its way to me and am now worried whether I should be using it with the original cooling unit.. Thanks!

Good to hear that it changed the experience for you! :) Sad that I don't get the same results :(

That's horrible and the reported errors on the unit seem to pile up at this point, this release is off to a rocky start. Hopefully he'll address all of these issues so they are resolved for all the early adopters.

Mike replied to my email with all of my issues and not the retailer, the retailer seems to not be answering anything but has the time to post on Insta.. Mike answered that there is no plastic around the bulb, but he is gonna check with his engineers and get back to me tomorrow, we'll see how this ends up. Promised to send me a new CU once it was finished, but with this plastic taste in the unit I´m a bit hesitant to ever turn this unit on again.

After playing with the Angus for a couple of weeks, here are some stats and observations from me:

Stats: (I used a new pair of Molicel P28, and used until unit died and then recharged same pair throughout testing):
- Heat up from cold ranged from :56 seconds to 1:26.
- On average, for any level, it takes about 1:10 to get to temp.
- Battery life ran around 53 minutes which translated into 8-9 sessions per charge.

General Observations:
- The 5 minute session timer doesn’t kick in until unit is to temperature. This is different than all my other session vapes, so wanted to call it out.
- I never noticed any drop off in power, even when it is less than 25% power.

- While I don’t think the flavor is outstanding, i also do not think it is terrible - the first few hits of fresh bowl are pretty good.
As the bowl goes on, the flavor goes away pretty quickly. However, toward the end, I never taste that charcoal-y taste like most other session vapes. So in that sense, the flavor is better than a Mighty or HR.

- I love the signature (high) I get from it, probably still in the honeymoon phase here, but with some vapes I never get a honeymoon period.

- It has yet to shut off on me when placing on table, although I tend to hold onto vapes throughout session.

Cooling Unit:
- The silicon taste did dissipate for me, but as MANY others have mentioned, don’t love that it’s there. I would much rather use a native mouthpiece so I can use with one hand, looking forward to new iterations. In the meantime, I am mostly using a WPA

- The mouthpiece makes a “gurgling“ sound when hitting - sort of sounds like a gas flame blowing in the wind. I am not sure how I feel about it (often mesmerized by it when fully stoned), but if you are planning on using in a quiet room, others will hear it.

- While I have yet to cough using CU, the vapor does burn the back of my throat a little. Feels much smoother using a WPA + glass (no water needed)

I probably have a lot more to say, but I am in process of testing against the Mighty, so will probably have more to say here once that is complete.

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate!

Tomorrow I get new batteries, I'll check if it keeps happening and I'll report it here, maybe it's my batteries or it's my unit

I don't want to sound like a broken record but I still speculate the taste issue is down to the bulb holder and the wires connected to it, think about how hot the back of the bulb is going to get and with the intake flowing through the holder those wires are going to be virtually impossible to isolate.

Those bulb holders come in a wide range of quality and price points, the contacts are frequently brass, which I don't like much. The wires are often just pvc sheathed but the high quality ones are usually high temp silicone sheathed. I wonder if the people building the device, assuming it's not in house, have reduced the quality of the components leading to the differing opinion of early and later units? Just thinking aloud...

Mighty material will be a much better choice if it is of the same quality and standards
Is it just me or he is still avoiding mentioning the material name? It’s not like the plastic is specifically made for the mighty? Just kinda comes off as me of him trying to quell peoples concerns by just name dropping something we already trust?

Apologies if he has and this just sounds dumb (already took some dabs)

haha aren't you supposed to be heavily medicated whilst being on here? No jokes a aside, Mike has mentioned quite a few things. I believe that in the Troy and Jerrys Discord channel he said the plastic would be peek. I'm not sure what he has said in the thread anymore tbh since there has been so much back and fourth. Better he clears it up

Not sounding like a broken record, I'm as curious as you. I was speculating something alonge these lines as well. It has got to become insanely hot behind that socket and in reality we dont know the materials that have been used. It also worries me that some things have been omitted from his teardown.

That could be the case, but we really can't tell until one of these have been opened up and verified. It's all speculation. But we are a couple of people in this thread now that are reporting a plastic taste from the unit, could be wrongly put together at the factory, something that was forgotten when they assembled them or a couple that got inferior material due to shortage or whatever. Well yeah would much rather that Yllvape looked into these units and gave an explanation. The one unit that burned he seemed to have shipped to a dealer so we'll see what happens.

looking forward to your tear down!
I´m waiting to see if yllvape will ask for the unit since I've seem to have a lot of issues with my unit. Will give it this week since we talked today and he told me he would get back to me tomorrow after he talked with the factory/engineers. Want to see what happens before I open it up, could have been that the ones that reported the plastic taste maybe got faulty units?:sherlock:

Hello, guys.

I am sorry for Angus issues, and hold up your time on this. I will be always responsible for my work and products without any doubts. The angus definetly needs a better cooling unit.

Our team takes melting and discoloration issues very seriously. We see the potency on Angus and would like to do whatever we can do to fix it to make better Angus.

The device with melting plastic issue is on the way, and we will check out how it happens on earth. I am sorry that i did not response in time, I was planning to give a good answer when the new cooling unit sample is ready and get that device next week. Meantime we are working on the new cooling unit ( replace this part into metal material), It will be also easy to clean without tweezer tool for dis assembling. Will test each part temperature of cooling unit at highest temperature for the new one, and i will show you our testing here. and send the new cooling unit to customers who has issue with the CU to test. and based on feedback, we will see if its good to update for Angus.

I can see everyone has high value expectation on Angus. YLLVAPE wants to make an unique and great vaporizer in the market. we will not disappoint you. Give us some time.

Let me know your question or concern here, and I will be here to answer.
Thanks a lot 🤝 @YLLVAPE OFFICAL

My Angus also has a bad tasting cu. Two bowls was enough of that so on to wpa. It’s pretty good thru water. I can get good flavor on the lowest 2 settings but a whole lot of vapes can do the same.It does not run batteries down when turned off or shut off if set down. For the price point with the right stem it’s a good vape.
I also have a 5DD stem and was lucky it fits like it was made for it. I load the 5DD so basically it is an Arizer on steroids. I did learn something by using this stem. The bulb constantly turns off and on. It seems to work just fine so I guess it is to keep heater at the set temperature. None of my other bulb driven vapes do this and they all work the same or better.

Had my Angus for a week or so now and I'm enjoying it. I mainly use it at max 220c and can finish a bowl in about 4 or 5 decent hits.

Im not overly concerned about the CU material or 3M stickers as i can literally hold my thumbs on the underside of the CU immediately after finishing my 220C session, so its not getting that hot. Ive also never combusted at max temp plus boost. Has anyone ever combusted in theirs?

I do have the issue where it switches off if placed on a table slightly heavily.

The taste is pretty good, battery life is pretty good, and best of all it doesnt make me cough, which has always been a problem for me when using a mighty.

I don't know a thing about plastics. Can anyone here explain why so many people have a problem with this CU but don't have a problem with the Mighty cooling unit?

Not asking for a comparison of effectiveness vs the Mighy, I'm just asking what's the difference in materials where are people generally ok with Mighty but suspect of the Angus? Thanks
