I just remember it's the ArGo stem so it has the annoying four hole glass screen. And I was using my flower mill which grinds pretty uneven ime especially when the bud is a fresh. A coarse hand grind is gonna work best I think.

Yeah, Arizer stems are not going to be good for this, I used HealthyRips as the example because they have much better glass stems with honeycomb screen (more, smaller, even holes in a pattern) I also think the HR stems have thinner glass thats also better for this application... But yeah that's the tough thing with trying for coarse grind, consistency...

You should still be able to do a loose pack in a stem,
Yeah you can it's just the ease of sprinkling some herb in the chamber I guess.

coarser medium grind would be better, you wouldn't want a tight pack like a solo for more conduction

A fine grind doesn't need a tight pack though? Of course density does rise, yeah, but can still be very airy and open.
I think that is a design flaw personally
Yeah I hadn't even noticed that until it got brought up lol. I just assumed the oring was to seal in the somewhat protruding metal screen of the wpa, but the oring lays some mm's deeper. It's a mistake to put a silicone ring on top of the herb chamber right in the vapor path, no doubt.

I've seen those honeycombs they seem well executed coming from Arizer implementation of glass screen. And the thinner wall will definitely help.

A fine grind doesn't need a tight pack though?

Just a gentle tamp, you don't want too tight, to hinder the airflow yeah, but you also want good extraction through it evenly and to account for potential screen holes as you draw, I don't think this is the best vape to use a fine grind with really, been trying to lean more medium coarse myself here... Better flavor preservation and consistency for more convection I think? Yeah with a fine grind you get greater density of vapor however

Yeah you can it's just the ease of sprinkling some herb in the chamber I guess.

True, there are the trade-offs, loading a chamber can be convenient, unloading can be inconvenient, straw sucking glass stem can work usually, then blowing out clean, but yeah with a good glass stem that's wide enough, and a good scoop, you can still load it that way too... That's actually how I load most of my glass stems at home especially WPA instead of straw suck, good scoopers

As I've stated before, FW7 dimpled cooling stems and BB6 do not need an additional o-ring. Nice press fit in my chamber.

Some other thoughts on using these:
  • These stems also make it a tad easier to preheat. You can have the stem pre-packed and then after running a heating cycle just slide it on in without having to worry about loading a hot chamber.
  • For best performance (tho isn't a huge difference? no) I tend to take it thru one cycle (heat-up and a cycle with it at the desired heat) at 395 (6'oclock) and then back it down to the lowest setting for my first hit.
  • Glass stems are also likely moving the needle even more towards convection and radiation since glass is insulating from any heat from Angus chamber sidewalls.
  • For the stock dimpled cooling stem from the FW7 we are looking at a capacity somewhere between that of a Dynavap and Anvil XL. But you will want something with some depth before screen/dimples.
  • Still loving small unground nugs most here. Really nice flavor and if you aren't using screens, it is this of a pretty tight pack to prevent "Scooby Snacks" of ground flower being inhaled.
  • For those budget-minded folks in markets that sell cheaper smalls or popcorn flower at a considerably cheaper price, this is a perfect pairing. Super tiny small nugs can just go right in, or maybe a couple tiny ones. For larger popcorn, you are probably just tearing those lil guys into 2 pieces. Another nice convenience factor for quick easy loading. Takes the grinder totally out of the equation and minimal need to handle buds to get the needed size.
  • Yeah, may not be the most evenly extracted due to some portions of the nugs being much farther from heater. But farthest part of these nugs is still showing nice signs of extraction. Will post pics later of some vaped nugs.
  • This should also lead to less need for cleaning of the device as only at the bottom screen between heater and flower may be touching flower. And pack it well enough and even that is very minimal. Stem itself can go right into iso or maybe a lil stem milk...
  • Yes, this may be smaller capacity than some would like. But if others are needing to use an additional o-ring, it might be that they also have a smaller inner diameter than the FW7 dimpled stem. In addition to maybe not having quite as deep a chamber for herb.
  • The one trickly thing that I need to figure out is the best tool for is removing the vaped flower from the stem. Inner diameter makes it a bit too wide to blow it out like you can do with an Underdog metal stem or other smaller ID log stems. But a number of pokey-tools or smaller head dab tools should work fine. In a bind, I just broke a Q-tip in half and used the Q-tip wood stem to clear the stem.
  • Hmmmm, I actually had an idea there... Taking an unused DV cap, which could be used as a cap on the stem itself when on the go, and using it to remove flower just like you would a Dynavap. If it can get deep enough. Off to find out!!!

Yea neither do I but I was thinking of how to make that Arizer stem work but that ain't it, the stem and vape just don't fit, figuratively.

been trying to lean more medium coarse myself here
Same here, used it with medium or coarse (not sure which) FM plate.

good scoopers
Oh yes this has been on my list for a while, it makes loading as easy as sprinkling in a chamber, just now you get to use a cool herb tool for it.

If the mouthpiece changes to the Arizer Air/ Healthy Rips style glass stems then how can the dosing capsules be used?

My favorites lately have been from @RogueGuy at Rogue Wax Works. I've got a great two-wood larger handled one that may have been a one-off. But those combo scoop and tamp tools are also sooo great. Well-priced and well made.

Oh sorry, forgot that you mentioned that about DV stems, I'm pretty sure the FW7 cooling stems are the DV Hula stems XL? Available in a wide variety of colors, although I would want a bit more cooling dry I think?? So much variety with DV stems though they are quite narrow...?

Oh yeah it's a must-have, I love the ones from Rogue, non-magnetic and with a tamp for other vapes, plus Delta 3D Studios has really nice designed scoop, available in different sizes and materials (also able to customize, they just started their holiday sale)

If the mouthpiece changes to the Arizer Air/ Healthy Rips style glass stems then how can the dosing capsules be used?

They cannot, as I said, so there would need to be another mouthpiece designed to use glass stem with silicone at the top, so a capsule can fit underneath, like the HR Rogue instead of the Fierce (having both options would appease everyone, I have no interest in using capsules really and it would defeat the purpose with having glass stem be the chamber) I didn't say it should change to this only, rather that this should be available as an option

If the stem was like the one used on the Tinymight with the cooling unit then it would be suitable for both.

I bought the Angus because it has a glass mouthpiece and it can use capsules.

I'm sure there will be a few good options for doing this as YLL and aftermarket folks get rolling on mouthpiece options.

I had high hopes for this short ball stem intended for Anvil (from Rogue IIRC) but unfortunately the dimple holding the balls came right where the stock o-ring is located. Needed to pull it out an mm or so to get a good seal. But also a stem that was too short. Started getting hot even at the second lowest temp setting. Not an issue with FW7 dimpled.cooling stem which is about.50% longer.

Doggo also a big fan of Angus. Less fussing around with things using this one, so snuggles don't need to be disturbed.

Been following the thread but not sure whether the "set down-shut off" issue has been addressed? Mine has started to do it.

Otherwise I'm still really enjoying this vape and glad to see that the maker is back and welcome material improvements to the CU
Its the spring thing, we use the stronger one

Personally, I think you've made a really solid device with some flaws as most first versions have. Safety obviously must be fully addressed and confirmed. I'm enjoying mine a lot, especially with the WPA. Just continue now to be completely open and stand by your product so consumers are satisfied. I'm sure you'd agree that it's better to take a hopefully fairly modest financial hit in the beginning so that you can rightfully profit over the long term.
I deeply know ppl have very good expectations on Angus. And much appreciated for your understanding, Issues will not stop me but will help me learn. YLLVAPE team will do the best to improve it, and we will make it for sure. For now, just need some time to take care of the new cooling units, which is the right answer for FC mods and angus users.

IMO;Re-Engineer the WPA,Move Magnets to Battery Caps/ Built in to Battery Caps instead of Cooling Unit.
WPA To Accept 18mm/19,16mm,14mm,with separate screw-type for 10mm,may cover all fittings?
i’m going to talk to A Machinist-friend in Florida about that . And if someone comes up with one as I mentioned please send me one . lol

Another benefit of moving magnets from CU to the Battery-Caps is a taller cap making it easier to Replace Batteries.
Of course the CU itself to be made to accommodate the taller Caps .

I can confirm that my device does turn off if I tap it down onto my table, and I'm not even setting it down hard. Have to place it gingerly.

The plastic taste in the CU never went away and I have stopped using it altogether. It’s a shame because it actually cools the vapor so well. Looking forward to the update.

I’ve actually enjoyed stem packing like the way @RogueGuy does, and it microdoses really well. It’s probably one of the coolest unintended ways to use the vape, since the heater is so strong. I don’t have a log vape, but I imagine stem packing to be akin to that experience? Can anyone comment?

I get a consistent 5-6 sessions on a full charge with the p28as. I don’t notice a power drop off towards the end.

Hello, guys.

I am sorry for Angus issues, and hold up your time on this. I will be always responsible for my work and products without any doubts. The angus definetly needs a better cooling unit.

Our team takes melting and discoloration issues very seriously. We see the potency on Angus and would like to do whatever we can do to fix it to make better Angus.

The device with melting plastic issue is on the way, and we will check out how it happens on earth. I am sorry that i did not response in time, I was planning to give a good answer when the new cooling unit sample is ready and get that device next week. Meantime wie are working on the new cooling unit ( replace this part into metal material), It will be also easy to clean without tweezer tool for dis assembling. Will test each part temperature of cooling unit at highest temperature for the new one, and i will show you our testing here. and send the new cooling unit to customers who has issue with the CU to test. and based on feedback, we will see if its good to update for Angus.

I can see everyone has high value expectation on Angus. YLLVAPE wants to make an unique and great vaporizer in the market. we will not disappoint you. Give us some time.

Let me know your question or concern here, and I will be here to answer.
Hello,
My cooling unit discolored in the middle section the first time I cleaned it in Isopropyl alcohol. I did not soak it. I just cleaned it off. It turned some parts white but Is still useable. Will the cooling units or the middle section of the cooling unit be replaced for those that already own the Angus with this issue?

I found out about the Angus through Instagram, through a couple of users that I follow and usually think they are on the spot with their observations and comments. A portable halogen vape that uses a proven heating element, has been drop tested, had capsules right from the start and the possibility to change batteries. It ticked all the right boxes and made me want to jump on this train. But am I the only one to think that these early reviews not really portraits the truth about the Angus? Or did they receive other units that were better built? I´m not really sure what to make out of it since a lot of users both here and in other forums are raving about the device and how it performs, but the device I received barely lives up to the hype in my opinion. And in my opinion it really isn’t a Mighty killer.

I received my Angus this Friday morning, used it non stop the whole Friday and Saturday. And it has since then been shelfed, I´ll explain why below.

Ordered an Angus with 10 dosing capsules and a bunch of extra screens. I did not order the WPA, which I today regret.

I first noticed that there seem to be an o-ring between the heating chamber and the loading part, can anyone confirm if this is an o-ring in-between or is it a ceramic part that’s a part of the oven? Not sure and don’t have Mikes teardown pic in front of me at the moment. But felt that this was the first let down of the Angus if it’s indeed an o-ring in-between.

Friday used it the whole day, even though it only tasted horrible plastic when I took a pull with the capsules loaded with herbs with either live rosin or ice sandwiched between. At 180, 190 and 200 I barely got any visible vapor, the terps seemed okay but the plastic taste took away all the good tasting terps. Maybe I’m more sensitive, but I use an OG mighty as my daily driver and have used it the last 5 years and have never complained about a plastic taste. Tried to ignore the plastic taste as several other reported that the plastic taste fades over time. At 210 and 220 so little vapor that it seems like my unit is not working. At 230 with the boost function I got a lot of vapor, but still thought that the taste isn’t on par with any other vape I’ve got. The Mighty, ALP, Davinci Ascent (yes I still have one), Arizer all taste better in my opinion. The Angus also makes a sound while on that’s irritating, seems to be the electronics where the sound is coming and it’s constant. I´m also having issues with a sound like a whistling sound of a dog whistle while taking a pull, even my dogs become annoyed over this sound and they react on it at every pull. I also found that to get a better pull from the angus I need to press the CU down quite a bit to get a good pull, otherwise it’s too airy. Seems like it doesn’t make an airtight seal between the CU and vape itself. But I have to admit that the Angus extracts a lot better than any other vape, but if you cant reap the benefits of the extaction, what’s the point?

Saturday, used the vape the whole day and reacted that it was still doing everything I reported from Friday but also that it already had gunked up the CU, so decided to take the CU apart and clean it.

First of the locking mechanism had locked itself into place due to my use of live rosin and ice, had to use tremendous force to unlock it and then excessive force to remove the bottom plate of the CU. Felt like it was going to break. When I finally got the CU open I noticed that one of my magnets already was loose in the CU (the reseller that sold me the unit recommended me to glue it back.. so never buying from there again. Not naming any names, but that a vape reseller even suggests that is beyond me.). Went ahead and cleaned the CU anyway with ISO, just to notice that my whole CU was ruined after this. The CU uses PPSU plastic which offgasses at 180C Celsius, but it also cannot withstand ISO. Please note that the instructions from the manufacturer states that it should be cleaned with ISO (this is one of the things that makes me believe that the tester units were different compared to the units we’re now seeing sold.) All the pieces of the CU became white and like the plastic started bubbling from the ISO.

Also noted that the bottom plate in the CU but also the holder for the glass mouthpiece has o-rings that seems to be glued in place as I cannot for the life of me remove these. These should be user replaceable in my opinion.

The peek plastic that sits closest to the bowl in the bottom plate seems like a classic mistake of over engineering, it could have been done in a lot of other ways that would be easier for the maintenance.

It’s good that the manufacturer is making new CU’s, I´m awaiting these to test it further as I´m puzzled over the raving reviews of the unit when I cannot produce the same results as others with it.

It doesn’t produce good vapor in my opinion, it tastes like plastic in every pull, the taste is worse than in any other vape I own, build quality seems meeh especially in the CU. Not sure of the rest of the device as I haven’t opened it. Will await the new CU’s before judging it completely, but so far the Angus seems like a hyped up device that doesn’t live up to the hype.

The battery caps also are too sharp, cut my brand new batteries wrap after being in the Angus, so careful with you batteries..

I’m currently looking at a mighty+ instead.. Sad when this device ticked all the boxes of what you’d want in a mighty. In this point in time I would recommend the Mighty and the ALP over the Angus.

This the new structure of the Cooling unit, and the material will be the same as mighty cooling unit material.

Okay so you'll use the same build as previously? With the magnets attached with the adhesive? Same blob of silicone in the airpath but all the plastic will be peek?
