What grade of iconell?
got this from the makers post early on:

“the heating element is made from a proprietary super alloy manufactured here in the US and is in the same family as Inconel. Due to it's high corrosion resistance and strength at high temperatures, it's been used in rocket and jet engines. We've run it for thousand of thermal cycles without noticeable degradation”

Iconell is widely used as a heating element in toasters, space heaters, hand warmers.
Just curious as to what the super sexy secret is?

So I wanted to post some first impressions with the Neo since I've had a couple days to experiment.

This thing rocks. Solid/sleek build, easy UI, painless (and oddly satisfying..) battery access. Its able to produces dense clouds with excellent flavor, even and dark AVB. I love the ritual aspect but also that it doesn't require a lot of technique imo. While this is not the piece I will likely go to for a hit-in-a-hurry, I definitely see it getting a lot of use in my lineup. To me, it's a nice "kick your feet up on the front porch" kinda deal. That isn't to say that you couldn't rip a bowl pretty quickly with the Neo, I just find myself savoring the experience!

Depending on the temps and bowl size, I get 3-7 nice hits per bowl, stirring/tamping every hit or 2, no hotspotting. I prefer it dry so far, with a jhook or pipe (it works perfectly with the Gandalf pipe - I added a glass daisy). No issues to report so far.

The Purr bowl is awesome. Very well designed/built. Since the Neo fits so many other bowls just as well, the biggest advantage to me of the Purr are the 8 holes and resulting even airflow. It's a decently deep bowl and (go figure) the Tafée Bowle pots fit perfectly in the Purr! This effectly reduces the bowl size while also moving it a little closer to the heater for quicker extraction. I've had success just inserting the pot directly into the silicon tip while preheating - it warms the bowl up and makes a perfect seal.

Anyways, damn fine job with the Neo @Black_Prrl This definitely adds a new and unique experience to my vaping regimen and I am loving it. Looking forward to seeing what the team cooks up next!

You've asked this question before and just because you don't like the response (or lack thereof) doesn't mean you can keep bringing it up in the thread over and over again. Please stop.

Thank you.

Thanks, @NimChimpsky! We haven't tried the Tafée bowls yet, but seems like they'd concentrate the flow and heat nicely when using a smaller quantity of herb.

Another bonus of the sizing on the 8-hole bowl, is that the concentrate pads from the Mighty/Crafty as well as the Firefly, work very well. Because of the stainless steel, they take a bit more priming to bring the pad up to vaping temps, but once you've got it going, they'll produce some fantastic vapor. Be cautious of overloading or pulling too hard when the temps are low, or you might get drippage and waste some product. So, if you love extracts, you may want to try that out!

Also, several of you have reached out about a case to stow the Neo, especially when it's still hot... We are very excited to announce a design collaboration with Portland's Woolly Made, to create a fine leather case that perfectly fits the Neo. They source premium, vegetable-tanned leathers and handstitch each one. We have 20 black and 20 green ones in stock. We'd love to hear your thoughts!

What a great idea! Using the TB pot like that makes it easy to use any 18mm glass piece!

It brings the load so close I'm using level 1 now and getting great flavor and easy clouds

I'm also semi patiently waiting for a glass pipe designed for the Neo

I came here after that thread :
@Vaporware right what i want, but issue with the amber was most about efficiency than orientation.
I need an ember with herborizer efficiency

It was planified with both orientation at first, it just feel so more natural and balanced horizontaly
Do u still plan to make an horyzontal one ?
It's, to me, just the perfect form factor, as how the ember was

For now they all just use thin wire... overheat them.. trying to get an enough average with drawing.
But for now, they are too weak as the actual box tech can't stabilize it reactively...
And it ends with hotspoting and puffing kind of draw...

No secret, inertia and mass are correlated...
Weight those coil up and put reactive sufficient capacitor discharge...

Yes, though not for a while. With the Ember, we found that many customers had a more difficult time getting the seal correct when the atomizer was horizontal. And, of course, the seal is the most critical part in being able to use the Neo effectively. There are a few additional design, manufacturing, and assembly challenges in that orientation as well. Nothing insurmountable, but we want to keep our efforts focused on getting a few pipe designs and other products out the door first.

I don't think it would be harder than sealing an herborizer, a supreme, a FP...

That's why I would only use the neo with the dedicated bowl, the old bowl that seal must be few... and i'm not lucky...

The ember sided design is for me the perfect one for home use.

The chiminey with kind of a ceramic glue is surprising, don't know how safe it is, but things like that makes me keep watching the vap evolution

When it will compete with the wired desktop for extraction, i'll be there !:myday:

I never used the Ember so can't comment on that. As far as different bowls, the Neo (with silicon adapter) has fit the 3 or 4 bowls/pipes that I've used, from a good to perfect fit depending on the piece.

The ceramic adhesive should be heat/corrosion resistant, so perfectly safe, unlike traditional 'glue'.

As far as it competing with a wired desktop.. to me, it's apples and oranges (depending on what you mean by extraction). You could get similar AVB from the Neo as you do from a desktop (just as dark and even) but I don't think this device is intented to completely extract a fat bowl in 1 hit like an FP or something... but maybe it's possible! Not really how I see myself using it either way.

I really hope the pots become available separately because despite a hint of VAS, I have little desire for a bowle, go figure:shrug:

I think an EQ style dome/bucket screen in an 18.8male glass adapter is the best bowl I've used (so far) for a fine grind, but I still want to try these.

I just got these and am learning to really like them together, in the Neo and others. The with this set the Neo takes a little getting used to, but could be a nice mobile option.

I've got a pretty capacious pipe that I often use, and this afternoon I set out to buy something that would hold a smaller amount of flower. I brought the Neo along to check the fit and went home with a marley natural bubbler. In contrast to my regular pipe, this allows me much smaller doses. The staff member was very much intrigued by the Neo. I pointed her your way @Black_Prrl ! The marley has a very conical bowl shape, so you fill it with only a pinch. I use the Neo without the sleeve, so it's close to the herb, and then I can leave it on 1 diamond, 2 to finish the bowl. I wanted to try out micro-dosing with the Neo, and I think I've got it working.

As to a horizontal, ember-like form factor for the Neo, I think it's easier in its present form. My hand function is limited, but I can let the weight do much of the work to get the Neo to fit the bowl, and I don't even use the sleeve.

Looks like if you buy the potter grinder on their site it comes with 4 pots ;)

Looking forward to some pre dog park afternoon delight with the Neo / Sherbert / Gandalf pipe. Such a great combo!

Edit: this thing can really milk a bowl for all its worth.. excellent flavor throughout - even the final hits, which are noticeably tastier than would be in many of my other vapes.

With the Neo oven open up, 18mm end and screen open down. It's felt like using a GH with an inline nectar collector. Small doses only with this setup though.
So you load the end of the stem and then cap it with the screen to stop it falling down onto the quartz?

I would load the end of the stem, using the soft rimmed screen to hold the herb in, but in the screen, not behind it like is done with a Tetra.

There are three ways I pack a lot of my 18mm glass including the tubo.

1. just a rimless screen. it can be orientated in either direction in the glass depending on how large of a load you want.

2. Just a tophat or rimmed screen. This keeps the load close to the heater and is great for microdosing.

3. An internal screen and a tophat. This is probably the one confusing you. There is an internal screen that gets pushed down into the neck stopping the herb from being sucked up. You cap the glass on the end with a tophat so that you can leave the herb very loosely packed and it can't fall out.

Hope this helps a little, sorry for the bad pics, trying to get some yard work done before the rain!
In this pic, (it should show up, if not, post #1432 in the Tubo/Evic thread), I pack the tophat with herb, the Neo sits over that, it's all in line, Neo facing up.

That AVB isn't very even at all. Not too dark either. I haven't used my NEO in a while though. It sits in the closet somewhere. I'll pick it up again after I get another new piece that I think will work great with it, plus the 8 hole bowl made for the NEO. Honestly I don't know if I'm gonna use it again. Really I just don't like holding the thing up. Don't get me wrong, it's a great vape or a great concept but I don't like any learning curve at all for vapes. Like I say I don't like the fiddling with it and with this vape you've really got to experiment and fiddle around with it just to get it to work well.

I found the Neo takes much less fiddling if you have the right pipe. @CDXX Pipes makes beautiful pipes especially for the Neo.

Like you, I was fiddling to get solid performance. Then I got a CDXX pipe and it is a whole other experience.

The Neo does have its own ritual so I find it works best in the comfort of your home (rather than on the go). And with the CDXX pipe (which has a larger/deeper bowl), it does benefit from stirring. But that’s just part of the ritual.

@Kins, if it’s in your budget get a CDXX pipe and stick with the Neo. I think you’ll have fun keeping it in your vape rotation.

I didn't find there was much of a learning curve, but thats me. I agree there was some very light brownish-green I could have extracted with an additional stir and hit or 2, but I didn't feel like taking this bowl much further (I was already fully blasted). As an experiment later that evening, I actually took a bowl as far as I could and the AVB was pretty uniformly dark brown/black (I'll maybe try that again tonight and post another pic).

Your avb looked pretty done to me. For me this device isn't what I pull out when I want deep extraction. It's more a quality focused session, using only the good stuff and looking for those fresh full hits. It's all about the terps. Pushing those last hits or forcing up the temp just to get darker avb, while possible, is not in the spirit of a connosiour device. I keep it light and tasty.

Alright well I just ordered the special purr bowl for the NEO and a 2 pack of the silicone adapters. The bubbler from purr I don't have the money to order now. When I get the new bowl it'll be nice to try it on my roor bong collection. So I'm still giving this vape another chance. I wouldn't have ordered the special bowl if I was gonna give up on it.

Had a bowl of orange kush mints for science. Wouldn't normally take a bowl quite this far, but fwiw here's some AVB pics.

This was .25 in Gandalf
3 hits on 3 (1 stir at the end)
4 hits on 4 (stir every 2 hits)
3 hits on 5 (stir after each hit)

All but the last couple hits were very pleasant, and those last hits weren't bad - not as harsh as would have been from most of my other vapes that can get AVB this dark. I get no throat irritation from the Neo (again ymmv on this). The AVB seems as even and dark as from, say, my Bowle (darker on this bowl, but again I wouldn't normally take it this far). I think any potential buyer should be aware of a couple things:

If you are concerned about super even AVB, I think you could accomplish this by stirring after every hit. I normally stir every 1-3 hits and don't mind it because the bowl is already exposed and I grab the Neo to have this experience anyway, which I really don't get with any other vape (save the VB). Bowl size also matters in this regard. If you are hitting a decent bowl, you are going to have to stir for sure to get even AVB. I wouldn't purchase this if you are trying to cash a fat bowl in 2 hits like the TM or something and are not interested in stirring at all. But as @west-elec said, that's doesnt seem like the intended purpose of this device.

The one con I have found is that power output is pretty noticeable weaker on levels 4/5 when the battery drops below say, 20-30%. I could be wrong, but I think this is pretty common for battery powered vapes like this. Not a big issue for me since I always have a few spare batteries charged - I just replace them when it gets this low. I should mention that I've only used the included battery once and normally use the molicel P26A.
