Rosin Technique....Easy DIY Solventless

Okay all of you guys. WHY should paper be as expensive as bud! I appreciate all your answer and am looking at all your links. I really appreciate your help and will let you know what I come up with.

The 250 sheets of slicksheets someone posted above will do you a LONG time. You can cut them in half so it's really 500 presses. You never double up with those.

I grab my Parchment Paper from Rosin Evolution. They are Precut sheets from Black Label Paper. Only ones that don't, I don't have to double up. Always fairly easy to collect/scrape off without any getting stuck to the paper and losing it.

I use a twenty ton press, and I found the cheaper grocery store parchment didn't hold up.

The oil slick paper is thicker and has much more silicone than other brands.

Some brands don't even have silicone coating instead a cheaper coating with health questions.

It dont need to be, you can go with the cheapest stuff from ur grocery store if you like, its all up to you.

Expensive as bud is an over exaggeration tho. Unless 40$ of bud will last you 7 months xD
40$ for 200 pieces, use 2 pices for each press, its gonna come out less than 50cents/press in paper...

Would i pay 50 cents to make sure im not adding anything toxic to my rosin? hell yea.
But it also protects you from tearing and makes it easier to collect, total nobrainer at this point.

I use the black label parchment and it’s definitely an improvement over the standard shop stuff. The worst I’ve ever tried was the oil slick ptfe stuff though, found it stretched and was more difficult to collect from than normal shop bought parchment. Think we chucked the rest.
here’s some g13 rosin I pressed over weekend :brow:

The oil slick paper costs 10 cents a sheet, ($25 for 250 sheets) and can be reused if you want.

err, what?
It's only dirty if dirt/ other oils were added during its making, and/or came from shit dealers. White/yellow extracts will eventually go black with enough heating.
uh, it's dirty because it's got a lot of plant material in it. I'm not talking about actual "dirt". And I'm not talking about bubble hash, I'm talking about black or brown hash, like mercedes or camel or afghan seal. Go ahead and press it, but you're dabbing garbage at that point.

Just don't get this,
Amazon.com: Oil Slick Wrap Foil Backed Parchment Paper 12”x600” Alternative to Martha Wrap or Reynolds Pan Lining: Kitchen & Dining
That is for storage not pressing as I found out!

Must be big pucks or you like rosin that is similar to a slug's results, as above I will get a bag blowout before my paper will rip but I am only using 40mm bottle tech pucks (x2 sometimes).
If you go back to the slug thread, I was the most vocal opponent to that quality. I went on and on about how bottle tech is superior to every other method in every way. I'm pretty sure I'm the one that got everyone around here onto the bottle tech train. :)

I just have a great herb to bag ratio and technique where I can press until death before I get a bag blowout. So ya, I need stronger paper, the slick sheets have worked great the last few years.

Okay you guys have been great at responding to my question! Has anybody got a problem with this paper....

those seem a bit small for my taste but I could be wrong. When I cut the 10x10 down the middle I still have 5 inches to work with and I still have to fold up the sides sometimes or I get run out. You want the oil out of the way and off the plates as quickly as possible.

Thanks @mc ...I bought the little $99 ju1cebox and the plates are 1.5in x 2 in. So I figured folded in half a 4 x 4 sheet should work, but may be a little tight with the bud inside it. Hummmm.....

So how 'bout these 5 x 5's.... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WWGFK7C/ref=sspa_dk_detail_4?

Team NO SLEEP!
I am using 3x5 plates and cut all my own parchment down to exactly 5.75" It gives me the perfect amount of overhead on the width without hitting the frame posts. I tend to press dual bottles and rarely push out the sides, I get a good directional drip when tilting.

I am not extreme on pressure...

Okay, from what all of you said, I'll stick with larger paper, prolly the 5 x 5 in. Thanks so much for your help! And if anyone knows of a thread a "Press beginner" could learn a lot on, I'm all ears! Thanks again to all of you!

I own 2 Rosin Presses from Low Temp Plates, and I haven't had an issue.

I started with a 3x5 Cage Kit and a cheap 12T press from Harbor Freight and upgraded last year to an All-In-One model.

Still have the Cage Kit and should put it up in the Classifieds Section.

I have no idea how to do it with the juicebox, I've seen some posts on reddit with great results with it, but I'm not sure how. Here's my tech when I had my old 4T nugsmasher:

"185 f avg temp, I never go up to 200, no need, lipds are all melted by 174f. Might be tough with the juice box to keep it that low.
-Bottle tech style filtering is recommended. Vertical bag style.
-Start by just bringing the plates down to slight pressure holding the puck in place and wait 30 seconds.
-Then add pressure until you feel it push back on you, don't force it. Wait 30 seconds.
-Now pressure again until you feel it push back, stop. Wait 30 seconds.
-Repeat this until you are at max pressure, then hold it for 30 seconds to 1 min. Then for the last 10 seconds slam it down.
This prevents blowouts, allows you to press 6 grams with only 4T pressure, and get the best color wax you'll ever see. "

I'm not sure I should be linking other sites but we discuss it all here:

I like these stories. Keep them coming. Say what press you use.... how it works... what it produces, etc. @mc has got it down! Thanks guys!

I agree with everything but would skip this last bit, no use pushing extra contaminates into the mix.
you don't really get anything out at that point but it pushes the oil away from the puck so you get less stuck to it when you are about to contract it. That way any oil that melted back towards the puck doesn't also pull into the middle. You don't have to "slam it" but just give it one last push before letting it up.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
I have always pressed flower pucks with my rig, but I recently picked up about 3g of some nice CBD/CBG kief. I wanted to press it into rosin, but I only have 160 micron bags. I've read that you use 37 micron bags when pressing kief but didn't want to buy a whole pack of them.
What would happen if I tried pressing kief through a 160 bag?
