Gear D-nail thread

It came early haven't washed it here's a few pictures for you guys to go over.

I'm not sure if this is low enough on the lug nut for me to use a Channel Cap after all I'll likely follow up with D-Nail about that. Unless the Channel Cap isn't flat (which it looks to be) this won't work. That said it still looks dope and no more titanium is going to be amazing.

P.S. If you get it; be careful with the threading I totally see people cross threading or worse if you don't take your time and pay attention to the resistance

So is this d-nail's solution to get titanium out of airpath? Is that all SIC from top to bottom, other than the quartz lug? Looks great and thanks for pics. Can this be used with old halos?

Correct there is no Titanium what so ever. There is a Quartz "Heat Sink Ring" depending on if you use a Nimbus or a regular Halo you will be picking a 2mm thick or 5mm thick. The 5mm is in the picture.

You can order the beta (if you can afford it) here . I got it on Black Friday for 225$ the price has gone up to 275$ without the quartz heat sink for example.

I don't know if I would drop 300$ on just the base; it is beautiful don't get me wrong that is just more than the Sapphire Nimbus Dish will be.

Edit: few thoughts below this line
---

Using the 28mm Barrel Coil and D-Nail controller set to 420 it spikes up to 510 before it settles. This takes _much_ longer due to SIC taking longer to cool.
Tightening this is interesting; obviously don't over tighten but tighten until the quartz heat sink ring stops moving is a good idea.

... Yeah it does not secure as well as the Titanium and the amount of heat it radiates is not pleasant. Going to switch back to the universal base while I find my K type Thermocouples and do a little checking a few things on the heat.

my 18mm to 14mm adapter is not untouchable as it is too hot to touch. So without some actual figures I'm not comfortable using it yet.

Even with a ti base my slim series air path is coated with resins fairly fast. I doubt there is much actual contact between vapor and ti, after a couple sessions.

And I'm someone who is very sensitive to metal in dishes, or coils. But no problems with a sic dish sitting on a ti base.

I like the idea of sic base, very innovative, but I doubt I'll be purchasing anytime soon. Just my 2 cents.

The smell of the sic base heating up filled up my living room. It's not a horrible smell if you torch your base you know what I am referring to it was just about 3-4x stronger. I'll see when I find my Thermocouples (they are buried in the house) I don't think there is enough heat dissipation for it to be a good choice without changes.

SIC is slower to cool down than Titanium so if I was a betting man I bet the whole assembly heats up close to where your dial is set at. With a Sapphire Dish and the dial turned under 400f that maybe more doable.

P.S. I totally understand not wanting to purchase it anytime soon. I kind of choked up at seeing the price jump nearly to 300$ after the black Friday sale. It's also beta so let's hope they can work out this heat problem.

Sorry for the late response my Thermocouple was delayed by the post office.

So base temp where it sits in my 18 to 14mm adapter is around 120f the 14mm base on the sic doesn't get above 200

So if you have thick quartz and not cheap glass you should be fine; the 5mm heat sink ring gets to about 220f.

Oh and the heat up and cool down time has increased takes longer to heatup and longer to cool down and when it misses the temp it takes longer to recover. Anyway I'll give it a go it sounds like it shouldn't break anything as the 18/14mm adapter is from TAG and so is what I use. Hopefully the Quartz Heat Sink Ring will hold I don't really expect it to blow my mind though

I’m not sure what smell you are talking about but mine stays on and I don’t really notice a smell. I definitely prefer the s-series over Ti which I found tainted flavor. I don’t think the setup is that expensive as S-series comes with a SIC that is threaded it’s $225 with code “2020Vision” and $324 with the PB quartz cap which is perfect fit for the Nimbus. I like the threaded over the lug as there is much more space to dab and not nearly so much spill over. Sapphire halos are steal at $120.

I’m not sure why all the negativity for D-nail. I don’t see anyone else bringing threaded SIC to market or coming up with innovative caps like the Channel caps. They did set the standard for most innovations that came after it.

@damm appreciate you correcting the misinformation about the base being too hot but in the future before you start saying things that aren’t true about a new product a company is trying to put out make sure you have verified your facts. A lot of people rely on this board for information about upcoming products and you basically discredited an innovative product without having the correct information.

I’ve never had a problem with customer service but I guess for some it has been problematic in the past which was under different management. The original founder of D-nail is back at the helm and I talk to him every once in awhile and he really enthusiastic about some things in the pipeline and making sure D-nail is run differently. Stay tuned.

Brian at DNail has been great to me, lots of helpful advice and going the extra mile to get me sorted due to a few problems. I will be going the all SiC route once the gear is out of Beta as they are still tweaking the product.
Sapphire halos are steal at $120.
How and where can I get this for $120?

@LesPlenty https://d-nail.mybigcommerce.com/special-listings/xmas-specials/. Use “Vision2020” in checkout. Brian has a big heart and is really bright and is doing everything he can to try to revive D-nail to what it once was. Every time I talk with him very good positive energy. He and Di make an awesome team and I’d rather support a company that actually cares about their customers and safety of the products. They do very extensive and thorough testing on all the products and I know Brian’s background is in science, I think Physics. I’m sometimes feel there are a lot of pseudo scientists in this industry and people trying to make a quick buck rather than caring about health of their customers. I’m curious know what else he is working on.

That is a great price, I will try to hold off, I think I need a Nimbus more but so cheap, I almost paid more for a second-hand job.
The coupon code is actually ... 2020Vision as you stated earlier.:myday:

how significant is the difference between SiC and Saphire?

I am really tempted to just jump into the all SiC setup... I fucking hate the slim series parts. Prices be damned.

@FlyingLow I don’t notice that much difference and I think the s-series base with the nimbus threaded SiC is a much better deal at $225. Also with threaded SIC there is more room than the lug and sapphire.

I just got the sapphire halo from the xmas special for $120. I find the sapphire better in flavor and smoother than the SiC. Overall they are similar, but I think I prefer the sapphire. I'm really happy with the dish for the price, im even considering getting a backup at that price.

I don't appreciate your tone of behavior because if you had read my first post about how it was; vs using a thermocouple to measure it was different. What I mean is the ptfe adapter was getting hot enough that it was uncomfortable to touch and this was through a 18mm to 14mm thick adapter.

If you are a D-Nail employee I would suggest you to change your tone if you wish me to respond to you politely. Otherwise garbage in garbage out nothing new for FC except the mods seem to allow more toxic behavior lately.

I wasn't going to respond to this originally some would say I should take the higher road I think I did.

Wow, that generous Christmas spirit is really hanging in there this year! Haha

I just did not appreciate having D-Nail under the name of Ferrusbuelker defending (or attacking me in their typical way) their product. Sure it could have gone differently;

1. maybe asking if I had followed up with support?
2. how about asking why the glass was so hot the first time and not the second?
3. Asking for pictures of how it was setup.

I dropped over 500$ on my setup hoping that D-Nail had done more than a quick paint job on the web site.

P.S. if you review their instaram posts they are mentioning 2020Vision all over. I've actually DM'd with this individual on instagram under the dnailusa account.

Guess I will unfollow them and then I should figure out what to do with this S-Series base the smell when it is hot is quite strong on the nose.

I have a sensitive nose; I can tell the difference between quartz, titanium and sic heated. I can tolerate titanium quartz makes me nautious and sic didn't bother me as just the dish alone. The whole thing being SiC made my whole living room smell the same had to leave the living room to get fresh air the first time I heated it up. It actually got to 420 for about 5 minutes and like I said through their 14mm PTFE adapter and a 18-14mm adapter the actual female insert was over 200f on my rig.

Clearly I have a problem and I don't expect their support to do a damn thing for me now.

Stop paranoia, @Ferrusbuelker is not working for D-Nail but he's only a dabbing fan who likes his D-Nail setup, that's all.

I'm assuming that opinion cause I was already in contact with him by the past for differents topics and I wasn't under the impression I was talking to a company rep or employee of any sort.

Sorry to be OT, now go back to the D-Nails....

@damm I’m definitely not a D-nail employee nor am I affiliated with any company in this industry. I have enjoyed D-nails products for many years and I am happy to support them as they try out new innovative products. My intention was I was just trying to stress that is important to try to have accurate information especially when I company is just putting out a new product. Maybe I didn’t fully understand what the issue was but my experience has been that the base doesn’t get nearly as hot as the nail, the quartz does a good job of dissipating heat and I haven’t noticed any strong smell. I used a thermocouple to verify my experience and I believe D-nail did the same on IG to make sure the base wasn’t getting too hot. Maybe my tone was a bit too condescending and if that is the case my apologies.

I would reach out to D-nail on IG since Brian has taken back over they have been very responsive. When I purchased the S-series it was my understanding that it was in beta so I assumed there might still be some issues. I haven’t really had any issues and have been enjoying the Ti free air path. My hope is you can get your issues sorted and if I can be of help let me know.

It still was a little while ago when I was talking to Brian about my dropdowns popping and we both decided I would be best to wait for the final product before I spend the large (not long had the SiC Halo)on a Nimbus style sapphire, threaded or not, yet to see the final winner from beta trials.

Hi Chad. I know you are a D-Nail employee and I don't really care what you say. I've been watching your drama with fadespace and I have to say I really am disappointed in your actions and how D-Nail has behaved themselves. I'll post some of the responses from fadespace on imgur for permanent record.

This harassment started when fadespaceofficial made this auction post that has been taken down. I personally would suggest avoiding buying anything from D-Nail until Chad can act like an mature adult.

The story is that Fadespace's made claims that D-Nail's SiC is dirty is an interesting question that is worth validating externally as D-Nail is did tests (off gassing tests) to try and disprove this claim. My D-Nail as the new Nimbus is definitely not the same quality as their old SiC. The tooling marks are way too obvious so something has changed.

There is a live video on fadespaceofficial's IG regarding it; and the story has some of the drama however some of it has aged off. Highly unprofessional behavior that I would not have expected from D-Nail but now do.

So, FS is saying Dnails SIC is dirty, do they have anything to back it up? Ive got 7 (seven) SIC Halos in my Daboratory and not a single one has had any dust or dirtiness or anything but smooth operation the entire time I've had them.

@damm Aside from the tooling marks, does the SIC itself look different, like smaller or larger or even inconsistent grain?

And this just reinforces x50 2 things, 1, F Instagram, F it hard. Do not play with children in their own sandbox, not worth it, pretty much ever and 2, "safe" and even more so "healthy" is RELATIVE AF in this hobby/activity and even if something says "medical" on it (and 99.99999999999% of vapes don't, go ahead, check.......so dont get it twisted) thats hardly an enforceable guarantee everything is going to be smooth sailing.

They did testing. I believe they were testing the Peak Inserts not the regular SiC Dishes. FS claims that there is no way that D-Nail can acquire the material they are claiming to have. This has been going back and forth for 2 months and will only get worse if calmer heads cannot prevail.

As far as Instagram typically I touch it about 5 minutes a day. It's useful for me to find new strains sometimes or drops of concentrates I may be interested in. Does that suck? Hell yes one of the Concentrate Processors switched to putting the drops on their web site. So that makes me have to check IG even less. I followed D-Nail because of the SiC base rather regretting it as Chad DM's me from time to time asking questions. I blow him off as chatting on IG isn't my thing (takes too much effort).

Next time he bugs me I'll just block him and report him too much drama for something to smoke w/... however I saw some neat setups with 710coils on a quartz banger with the FS sic insert... might look into that would open up options

@damm ok this craziness needs to stop. I understand you have some sort of gripe with D-nail but please do not say I’m someone I’m not and accuse me of actions I have never taken. I repeat I do not work for D-nail, my name is not Chad and I honestly wasn’t fully aware of the Fadespace drama. My name Will and I worked in finance in NY and now live in California with my husband and have never even met anyone in person from D-nail. I’ve bought numerous items on from members on this board including two D-nail sapphire halos. I know @PPN already confirmed I’m not a D-nail employee and I think that should be enough.

You stated several times incorrect facts about D-nails new products like the Nimbus does not sit flush on barrel coil (which it does), lug going on bottom (which it does not) and the s-series getting as hot as the nail (which it definitely does not). Please just make sure that your facts are accurate for both people you accuse and products. Can we please move on from this back to D-nail?

I know Im using different kit from a different manufacturer but if this is a question about dishes, there is no way in hell I would go back to SiC after comparing it to sapphire. The differences are vast for me.
