Well, this is odd. I was going to post here asking for advice on a locked up Tubo Dual. Shortly after receiving it, I was digging thru the menus to see if I could change the LCD color... took a call and when I got back to the vape, it was locked on the main screen and showed 0 resistance on the coil and was completely unresponsive to button presses. The display would never time out. On several different occasions, I tried removing/replacing the batteries and hooking it up to USB but it made no difference; still unresponsive.

I just put two batteries in it to double-check what's displayed on the screen before posting here for help and it's now working perfectly again.

I'm so confused (and paranoid). Does anybody have any idea what might have happened?
hey! there is unfortunately a software bug causing this. i suspect joyetech getting rid of the time crystal in later vtc duals. the software locks up if it is supposed to find the crystal but cant. i have it already solved for the next update but its not ready yet. in the meantime you can hold the "-" button while closing the battery door, this deavtivates the time crystal.
it is interesting because repeated reinserting the batteries can also solve it which is just inconsistent, also not all units do this.

I have been one of the fortunate few who got Dual Tubos early.

The way I have solved this problem is to remove the part holding the batteries for 1 second then it takes about 15 seconds to recognize that everything is ok and then it works fine. I don't know if this will help everyone, but it works for me.

hey guys,
I've just been cleaning the Tubo and noticed that the screen above the heater coils is pushed down slightly on one edge. i noticed it a little while ago but was too blasted to actually remember to ask about it here.
i don't want salad to go into the coil section below and gunk it up where i cant clean and was wondered how easy, if at all possible, it is to remove the screen, give it a bit of a blow and replace it without damaging the heater coils?
my heater section has always been loose since it arrived but it doesn't twist in the heater housing at all, just wiggles a bit. i think i spoke to @funkyjunky not long after i got it a year or more ago but it doesn't impact on the performance at all so never took it any further. but im a fucker for symmetry and the screen being pressed down a little is annoying me haha.
also, do the Arizer V-Tower basket screens fit the stems? found some on amazon that wont take the long boat from china to get to the UK. i've given up on getting a straight answer about the Cloud Evo ELB fitting the stem.
many thanks anyone that cant help :D

If your WPA is empty the EVO ELB will fit.

If you have a screen in the bottom of the joint, I don't think the ELB will fit.

I'll try to remember to take some photos this evening.

I much prefer packing the joint of the WPA to using the EVO ELB

edit: Grobalot, i see you asked about a stem, not a WPA. What stem are you using? Does it have a screen at the bottom of the joint?

thanks so much for answering dude, much appreciated. and dont worry about pic's if you dont have time :D
i didn't want to buy them for them to be no good. £14 - £20 for a set of 4 is a bit more than i'm willing to spend on an experiment at the moment. removing the internal 15mm screen to make room isn't a problem. need to pick some more up soon.
i usually pack the joint when im home and i microdose early morning for pain using the basket screen, but for the sake of having a few capsules with a good size dose in when on the rare occasion im out and about would be a bonus.
thanks again for the reply dude, much appreciated

No problem dude, I'm 99% sure I'm remembering correctly.

We'll see when I get home this evening!

It clearly fits in my 18mm WPA and I think his stems are 18 to 14 WPA with a tube added to make a mouthpiece.

I didn't remove any of the joint screens in my stems since they are a pain to get back in there right.

Here it is in my 18mm WPA with the joint screen still in place:

And here it is without the joint screen in place.

@jimsmith90210 looks like itd be a juster with the internal screen, but like i said, dropping it out wont be a huge problem.
might have to sneak some on to my shopping list lol. have you tried them in one of the standard stems? i know the bottom of the basket would probably be quite far away from the heater for it to do the whole thing but filling it 3/4 or half full would probably make it easier to stir/shake up. more metal in the joint would mean higher temp just to be safe, but i tend to start at 190*c and finish 215ish

I think I only tried them in a WPA, I almost exclusively vape through water.

I wasn't using them out and about so I wasn't really getting any benefit. I didn't really like using them, I prefer to joint pack or use the mini basket screens.

If you intend to use them like dosing capsules, I do think they would do the job.

It's been quite a while since I tried them, I don't recall what temps I was using. I think i usually ended at maybe 430f.

Are the Arizer screens you were asking about larger than the basket screen la.mart ships out with his devices?

i have no idea at all lol. i presume they'd be 15mm like the tubo ones, they cant be one off's for the tubo im sure. think its £9ish for 10 so wont break the bank if they aren't the right size. may just have to man up and get them from @funkyjunky haha. wont take long for them to get here, but im an impatient bastard at the best of times. think i'll just sod the ELB's off all together, get one of those pretty bent spiked stems and a few more bits to make the shipping worth while.
thanks again dude, it is very much appreciated :D

No problem dude. I don't think I have had any problems with basket screens from other vendors working with my Tubo. Some basket screen seem to not fit in my RBT cooling stem, but I think everything I've tried has worked with la.marts stems and WPAs

i've never had the pleasure of trying any of RBT's vapes. i think i may have to change that in the future.
once i get them ordered and try them out i'll post the outcome for anyone that might be interested. cant make my mind up lol
i very rarely use glass as my only rig is a small double perk that i cant clean properly after i used it for smoking flower. brilliant little dab rig, worked well as a traditional bong but running any of my vapes with it never really worked as well as i'd like it to have. do need to have a look at DHgate and get a cheap one for vaping with.
thanks again dude :D

I have a Splinter v1, but I bought the cooling stem to use with my Tubo.

I'm not a huge fan of the splinter v1, but I haven't spent a much time tweaking out on it, I recently found TCR splinter guide here on FC so maybe I'll give it another go.

For how I use vapes, I like my Tubo and TetraX much more than my Splinter v1.

i've bin wondering for a while if the XL8R mouthpiece would fit the tubo, but again, expensive experiment lol. the cooling muthpiece looks dope but from what i've read they are very delicate
might swing wildly in my decision making again . think vaposhop do the 2 pack long and short so that may be another option lol
i've not had alot of vapes myself, a grand total of 3 in my collection lol. but its a start i suppose  i only have the MFLB, Vapir Rise 2.0 and my Tubo. like going from a Nisan Micra and a Fiesta to a Lambo :whoa:. the Rise isn't bad but the taste just isn't really isn't as prominent as either of the other two.
i tend to get through a joint pack in two good cruises first load from cold and then it gets a bit quicker. i smoke a little still (dont blast me lol) so quicker extraction is definitely a must and the tubo is a beast in that respect.
i'd love to pick up a Dual or the tetraX but im sure my wife would castrate me if i put an order in on the sly

The XL8R work well in the Tubo. Unless you need to pocket the vape, I prefer my Glass Charlie/Mod Pod Labs Coolest Jhook for my dry Tubo sessions. Nothing wrong with the XL8R, I just think the hook does a little better job, I'm sure you'd be happy with either.

You really spoiled yourself going for budget style vapes right to a Tubo.

If you can manage to pickup a Dual or TetraX I recommend it. Once you have to, you can do fun stuff like this:

Those double adaptors look insane! and i've never even thought of looking at a j-hook. too many choices!
haha i know. i've never used either of my others since i got the tubo. was going to try and sell the others but the rise is good for getting the last toasty bits out of the abv when im desperate haha.
i think it'd have to be the X for the sake of cost and flexibility, but i'd definitely need to get myself some new glass to go along with it.
my Mrs is gona ban me from the forum if i keep getting suggestions like these:rofl:

You can get sweet jhooks from dhgate for a song, the coolest jhook is GREAT and I think it's only $25

If you're running the Tubo dry, a spiked cooling stem is essential, the ones that la.mart sell are beautiful!

A small section of the screen immediately above the heater is pushed down slightly on mine as well. I dont even remember when I noticed it. I just use my breath to clear out particles in that area fairly routinely and I have never noticed an issue beyond my own neurosis. My wife is the worst about letting bits sit on the screen, I swear that will end us.

not just me then, and im fairly neurotic and very anal about keeping stuff clean lol
haha thankfully my wife doesn't partake so im all good on that one.
i think the only thing impacting the performance for me is old batteries that i'll be replacing next week and a few new screens and possibly a new mouthpiece. Picked an awesome tray up from Ikea for my Tubo. bamboo draw tidy with extending sides that you can put jars and all sorts in. changed my life, i swear lol

i've just had a look at them and they are lovely. the price, not so much. cant find a UK vendor for one so may have to treat myself at xmas lol. think it'd cost me nearly £70 to get one to the uk and i don't trust flat rate shipping for anything. and i'm impatient lol
i'll keep looking around until i finally, eventually, settle on something

I see that there is a lot of talk here of cooling stems.

@funkyjunky makes and sells some of the BEST cooling stems.

The wooden stem with the spiked glass is amazing.

Since I received it the Nub has become my go to stem even at home.

i think i'll just have to man-up and get some ordered lol. i was trying to find everything in the same place (screens and stems that wont cost the earth to be delivered) but i think i'll just have to put my big boy shorts on and get an order in with @funkyjunky to scratch my buying itch :D
and i mean no disrespect in any way to @funkyjunky im just on a tight budget at the moment, thats all. everything i've had from him so far has been top notch can i cant fault the quality of the stems in the slighted. im quite clumsy and have a tremor but the bent and straight stems have survived a few drops lol
