PAX Era by PAX Labs

Is it possible to lock the Pax Era without the app (i.e., during 'normal' use)? I ask because I recently had an issue where the device locked on me. I thought it was a faulty pod, so bought a new one and eventually noticed via the app that it was locked. Problem solved I guess. But, I'd like to know if this was something I did accidentally or if it was just a glitch in the software. I'm not finding any information online about "how to lock the pax era" without the app. Any help?

Thanks,
jimdee
I'm app savvy but no vape apps ever on my devices.

Pax era is great without it! Never locked on me.

Sadly I may never play pax era games. A gaping hole of unfulfillment in my bucket list.

You miss out on all of the temperature control without the app. It's what makes it so much better than a 510 thread to me.

You can still change the temperature without using the app but you are limited to the 5 set temps (the four built in and then the custom temp). Without the app you can't change the custom temp but it still gives you the five options even without the app.

That's true but I find all of the temperatures besides the custom option too hot for the pods I like to use.

Has anyone had trouble with pods hitting well after refilling? Thinking maybe I filled them too much?

Using distillate or winterized oil has all the plant waxes removed. Plant waxes can plug your pod. Picture below: the last of my distillate for the last part of my trip.

Sure, reg CO2 will work: they filter it, but winterization takes most of the remaining plant waxes out. The remaining plant waxes if left in, may over time, plug the pod. To tell you the truth, I just assume it will plug the pod. I've never used anything but distillate with some terpines added back. I've plugged a few cotton-wick carts.

Anyone buying these in Portland, OR? What are the best prices people have found?

I went to The Green Front, very reasonable prices on the device itself and the pods.

Right out of the gate, I’m really impressed. I had an OG Pax and it was nice for the time it was made but didn’t have a ton of longevity for me and feels really long in the tooth now. The Era is the exact opposite. It feels new and easy and convenient. Little touches like how the pods don’t have to face a specific direction to be inserted correctly or the carb holes show Pax’s attention to detail, and being able to manually set the temperature in the app is fantastic.

The vapor is much cooler than any of my e-cig batteries with 510 carts, and the taste is incredible. That is to say, it’s incredible I can taste the strain I’m using, as with 510 carts I’ve never had any significant level of flavor.

The effects came on fast and they came on hard. I mostly vape to help me sleep these days so it’s great to pop this by my bedside, then just roll over and take a few puffs when I need it.

Right now I’m switching between temp level 2, 610 degrees, and about 560 degrees on a custom temp. Level 1 was too low and level 2 sometimes feels like too much, but other times just right.

I haven’t tried the session feature on the app yet but I’ll probably mess with it soon.

Really cool, convenient, and effective little device!

And I love that they label each pod so you know what strain you’re actually putting in there. I have several unlabeled 510 carts that I can no longer remember what strain they are.

Agreed, love the labeling, super convenient. The overall form factor was a game changer for me, it's so compact and easy to use. I never get clogs and spitting with the Era pods either, IMO the fully bathed wick functions better than 510 carts where the oil has to wick into inlet holes and creates large air bubbles. I also prefer the wider mouthpiece of the Era over 510 carts, I can pull with my lungs instead of my throat.

The only issue I've had with the pods is every once in a while I'll get a loose one that doesn't stay in, if that happens to you just put a piece of small strip of Scotch tape on the pod and it should fit nice and snug.

This definitely feels like a step up. The 510s on ecig batteries are fine for getting you high, but they’re not a fully rounded vaping experience. Here, the pull, the taste, setting your temp, you get a much fuller and more satisfying session.

Close to pulling the trigger on one of these units. The pods are very easy to find in Maryland. Can you swap the pods and go back and forth or do you need to finish a pod before changing it? Never tried concentrates before, so the whole experience will be new.

Does anyone have the rough dimensions for an Era Pod? I've been printing keychain Juul pod cases and someone suggested it could scale up to Era Pods pretty well.
