I ordered the 3.0 flat coil liger from Cca back in Feb.(still waiting) I also ordered an August haus coil. It arrived yesterday, but it doesn't work with my cheapo controller. August haus makes a controller but I dont like it for various ressons. Can anyone recommend a controller that will run this beautiful coil?

An Auber

Something from ewaxcanada.ca

A Hex nail (might work, might not)

Dnail controller

Anything wired to dnail standard really

Curious as to what turns you off about the Kubes?

Not really into the LED lights.(unnecessary). Phone app download..I dont want my phone to have anything to do with my smoking habits. If they offered a bare bones, just set and adjust temp, plus off/on. I'd order one.

Max Vapor. Best looking controller on the market IMHO.

That blows!
The Hex-Nail is compatible with the AugustHaus coil.

@Ribman18 I would still recommend the kubeone as that's what I'm using. Aside from not liking that it lends itself to apple (apps released on android after apple), the functionality has been rather smooth, and simple.

There are some reasonable choices listed above, and if you start looking around at other options just be mindful to make sure the enail you're looking at has the power capability (150w+), and standard (dnail) pin layout.

So i managed to get a 20mm sapphire insert and LOVE it i am at around 530F (Surface temp)
Got one of the B-Grades for a slightly discounted price without warrenty.

On my rounds checking the usual sites this week I noticed high5 now makes 2 adapters, 1 that does high5 coils to standard boxes and 1 that does standard coils to high5 boxes.

I seen this too but still not sure if the AH coil would work on the high5 enail. I mean it should, i have two coils running running off my one high5 enail and its pulling like 240watts and the AH coil is 150w so u would think it should be fine. But when i rewired the adapter i had, all it did was blow fuses on the enail. Im not a pro or anything but im pretty sure i had everything right. I tried twice and thats it because i didnt want to mess up my enail and be dabless for a week.

When i rewired the adapter, when it was all plugged in it looked like it was goin to work but as soon i push the power button for the coil it would blow the fuse.

Ive actually been curious about the y splitter setup, how does it read temps? off only 1?

@ensabbahnur it seems like it tries to read them both, then display it as somewhere in the middle but thats just a guess.

Like i have it set at 585f and when it reaches the 585f temp, the flat coil which has alot more liger material to heat will display 20-30f below the 585 at 550-560f if I unplug the 20mm coil. The 20mm coil is about 20-30f above the displaying 585f at 605-615f if i unplug the flat coil.

The temp of the dishes when both coils are goin at once are about 480f-ish for the sapphire on flat coil and 560f-ish for the obsidian 20mm.

I second @ensabbahnur on the Auber, especially for simplicity, you can't beat it. That's what he suggested to me and I have been very satisfied with it. Hex-nail made out of unobtanium right now even if it is one of the best (I ordered Rnd 3, we'll see), and the Ewax stuff has a good rep, but not cheap either, same as Dnail.

Bear in mind though, you rarely REALLY want the cheap option.....Ewax prices are in CAD, so really their units are like $230, with dope ass silicone coated coil and a decent hybrid enail....not to mention a walnut lined Omron e5cc with solid state relay and Id put money on significantly better quality wiring then any mass made nail on the market.

I know you actually tried steering me toward the Ewax, and I had not taken into account the CAD on price (duh, sorry). The Omron controller you're talking about is quality stuff (all their electronics are), but I just couldn't get on board with the walnut. I know you like it, but it would stick out like a sore thumb in any room in my house, no matter what color I picked. Just my $.02

Thanx to friedpiper and ensabb. Lots of goog info. I checked out the Auber rdk-300a it's rated at 100W 110v. Fried, you say it runs your AH coil? I'll take your word for it. I like the price point of the Auber. I really am not into having any phone app.BS involved with my dabs.

The Auber can for sure do 250w, there is a note on the bottom of the rdk300 page that talks about adjusting a setting if you run 250s then drop to 100s and they used to sell 250w coils directly for their units.

I think the Hex is starting to give "smart" nails a bad name, the Kubes smart experience is SO EXTREMELY different then the Hex, I can not stress that enough. While you do at some point need an iOS or android device of some sort to adjust temps and the lights, you do not need it once temps are set, and at no point ever, beyond downloading the app from google play or the iOS App Store, do you EVER need internet or wifi in any for whatsoever, it doesn't care about your router brand, firmware, custom routing setting etc etc, I stress again, the Kubes interface and connectivity WORK EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED, and in my experience have done so EVERYTIME.

@Ribman18 I have not run it with the larger coil because of the wattage requirements. I don't currently have a Liger with a 30mm coil yet, and that's why I placed a Hex-nail order, to accompany the new Liger Air I also placed an order for. In your stance of absolutely not wanting to use an app, which I can understand, I would say the Ewax unit would be the way to go

I have seen guys on here powering the 150 watt coils with the Auber, but I'm not sure about what it would do to the longevity of the unit. It doesn't have an external fuse to replace or check amperage readings at. I'm afraid to plug in the AH 26mm I just got because I don't want to smoke my only controller

Very persuasive! Ensabbahnur. If i go with kube. 1 it's all warrantied. 2 I get another coil included $240. Before i decide. one last thought. Eventually i am gonna invest in some rosin press plates. They all come with PIDs that have ample wattage, dual outputs, 5 pin connects. Couldn't I just use that for my AH coil when not pressing?

Sure, but pretty much every press setup Ive ever seen has a really basic and in some cases, really random PIDs, Im not saying they are all junk, but in my opinion, something that can very......very easily burn your house down (and any heater really), warrants a little investment in a unit of known quality.

Edit, And I almost forgot, every unit Ive recommended are much much more attractive then a random PID hanging off a press, or even if it wasn't hanging off the press for that matter, aesthetics should count for something IMO.

I agree about the aesthetics. That is important too. I'm just trying to save a few bucks. All said and done im gonna end up with 3 PIDs. The one i got(not working with AH coil) a Kube(probably in rosewood) and a third PID to run my rosin press. I need "The One PID to rule them all"

Chiming in to say I am extremely happy with my ewax canada controller and coil. I originally planned on upgrading to the AH coil, but have not had any desire to do so as of yet. I was back and forth between it and the Auber unit, and have never given a second thought to my choice. If you are trying to save a few bucks, reach out to Mark at ewax canada and let him know you do not need a nail.
