Thought I should probably introduce myself since I've been posting.

I'm momofthegoons.

I'm 57 and have been smoking herb since I was 14. Over the last 10 years, several health issues have cropped up and my "meddy" has gotten me through some rough times. Unfortunately, I've developed quite the smokers cough from it . I was introduced to vaping and have borrowed a Hot Box while I was researching which vape to buy. After all the wonderful advice here, I ordered a pd. I too follow the availability thread like crazy.:D

It only took me a couple of days to get used to the technique and now I can't stand the taste of smoking. Plus, I've noticed that after only two weeks, my cough has subsided alot.

A little about me.....

Married, two adult kids.
Live in Michigan near Detroit.
I love to cook (would love to see some canna butter recipes here; might have to get something going).
Dog lover.
Love the Great Lakes; swimming, boating, "meddy" on the dock....
Retired, but only from the daily grind, not life...
Love to go junking at the local Salvation Army.
Not too proud to garbage pick; one person's trash is another's treasure (used to drive my kids crazy).
Love to garden; have grown some award winning plants in my early days, back when you could get away with things like that outside, if you know what I mean.
Love music; anything from Billie Holiday to Spoon, and all in between.

Looking forward to when Michigan finally gets it's shit together in the legality department. Right now it's still a little scary.

Good to meet you all.

Long time lurker, first time poster....

Expecting to upgrade from the "it's worked out so far" Easy Vape to, likely, the SSV (but still could be talked into something else). I do have, and often enjoy - in home and away from home, my MagicFlight. Can you say "Avatar"? :D

Lighting up, now,...just don't care for it anymore. Go figure.

Now, it's off to post my second one,...and to inquire on the best little scale for under $50, shipped.

Glad to be here - officially.

I recommend ebay, if you plan on biding your time you can get accurate measurements to the thousandths for under 20. Took me a month of biding though :-/

Welcome to FC driftwood, as a previous lurker myself I can tell you its a noticeable improvement :)

Of course, welcome jackstraw62, FEAR420, and everyone else as well :D

A quick introduction. I am in my 40s, and have smoked for more than 20 years, daily for a lot of it and exclusively good KB for about half of it.

I have a fascination with getting the most out of my favorite med, a fascination that seems to be pretty widespread `round these parts.

I have always preferred water pipes, but until about 5 years ago I would have thought a large GonG pipe to be a waste of money. Now I have a small cabinet of different glass, my favorites a RooR Mini with a R1 Concentrate bowl for solids and a vapor dome (or Illidelph Hot Hit Kit) for extracts; and a Luke Wilson inline with dual 10 leg tree percs for flowers. I prefer a Pheder to ignite bowls, but when flame is necessary I'll use beeline. Yeah I know it's silly, but I enjoy being a snob about so few things.

Over the years, I have accumulated a Vapir (classic one), one of the glass dome with a soldering iron gadgets that we all probably have, a Steinel 3002LCD with a VWT Pro Water Tool, a Volcano Classic with Easy Valve, a Digivapor (which is a whip-style digital vape, functionally a SVZ clone for the sake of making a quick reference we will all get). I have a shelf with a wide assortment of GonG gadgets, Ti pads, carbon filters, dental tools (all stainless pokers and scrapers come in handy, you never know when you'll need them) pretty much all the gadgets that most of the people reading this are likely to be familiar with.

I keep waiting for the ideal way to smoke. Currently for my taste, the Luke Wilson (very nice bong - mine isn't "worked" at all and I prefer it that way, I prefer just lab glass look). It thoroughly saturates the smoke in water at several levels, giving it a wonderful bath. I use several different precoolers (one at a time, of course), mostly the "Asskisser" style, since they are very discreet and don't add much to the draw.

I keep my eye on the vape market hoping to see something that will take my breath away (pun). Like everyone, I am wanting the ideal smoke, and I am confident that it will come from a vape. It is the Luke Wilson right now for me, but hopefully soon it will be a vape.

I will post my thoughts on the various vapes that I've tried in the appropriate threads, this post is intended to be a quick introduction. Besides, if you just smoked what I just smoked, you'd be tired of typing by now too.

Sounds like you'll fit right in here kaleimud ;) All kidding aside, welcome to FC and may I say I look forward to good review contributions from such a promising member. There has been a lot of forum buzz about some new vapes coming out "unlike anything ever seen before", so you very well soon might find what you're looking for.

Hi, I've been lurking here for a little while :)

I'm 28, and I've been smoking for less than a year. The experience is still new and wonderful to me! Personally, half of the fun is finding different ways to use herb. I got my first vape (DBV) last year and have been showing it off to my smoking buddies with great success. I recently ordered a Purple Days Pandora kit and am looking forward to putting it together, but I am still daydreaming about getting a SSV someday.

Welcome Kaleimud - yep I think you'll find yourself right at home here. As far as an 'ideal way to smoke' you could look into making extracts. Have a look at 'Spidermans Oil Extravaganza' thread:

http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=50

And for the best instructions on how to make butane honey oil:

http://www.thcfarmer.com/forums/f60/butane-extraction-instructional-7661/

It's not necessarily ideal in all circumstances, as I sometimes rather just have the head-buzz high I get from low temperatures on vapes, but for the smoothest full-spectrum couch-lock hit you can't beat BHO. But don't get into it unless you're a careful person who will take all the precautions given, as there are real dangers involved.

Hey all I'm vr9, Canadian kid, almost 30 and loving this forum. I hope to recount lots of experiences a buddy who isn't me has so we can learn about vape, ABV and the community. SWIM is a seasoned vet w/ vape but a forum and ABV noob, so SWIM hopes he can pass on some of his knowledge to you as well (esp. regarding volcanos w/ ez valve setup). Take care all, much love.

Hi all soz just found this thread been posting a while oooopsss:) great source of data here. I have been smoking mj since I was 15 thats 18 years A year ago (a little over now) I gave up cigarettes using a vape, then I decided for health to try and only vape mj, it was difficult at first I was smoking 3-4 pure blunt a day with my SSV then I got my Verdamper and it produced vapour that was almost like inhaling milk, after that combustable started to taste more and more harsh so I got my self a HerbalAire as well for the terps and the flavorins etc and swore off the smoke :) That me really if I can answer anyones question in anyway just shout. Thanks for the great hook up with lot of great people! Keep guzzlin' that gas!!!

jayrawk nyc here too - don't buy a vaporizer in a headshop; they usually have "hot box" vapes which are not that great but they do look cool.
or they have the crappy ones that look like hookahs - do some research here before you get one and please ask questions and we'll steer you to a good one and how to get the
best use from it.

Never introduced myself and I've been posting a while, so here goes....

My name is Tom. I'm 49 and work as a lab/animal tech. Education is biochemistrty and philosophy. I'm addicted to computers (spent 3 years in electrical engineering), try to use only Macs (no flaming please), and love animals. I've owned rats, mice, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, dogs, cats, snakes (my snakes had babies) and larges numbers of tropical fish. I've currently got one 10 year old very aggressive firemouth cichlid. G/F has 2 dogs and 3 cats. I have a 6 year old black lab and a 1.5 year old cairn terrier. Other than animals and computers my favourite hobby is studying the roman republic from 509bc up to 33bc.

I'm a gadget freak; my newest acquisition is an internet controlled moving robot with speaker/microphone. My dogs suffer ever so much when I am at work :)

-edit 1: I'm taking apart an old cell phone to see if I can use it as an on/off remote control.
