So how long do you keep your vapor in?

How long do you hold in your vapor?

I read somewhere that the lungs stop processing cannabinoids after 14 seconds in a single breath. I have also read that any vapor exhaled was wasted, but I tend to split the difference holding anywhere from 5-10 seconds. I actually hold my first vapor hits longer and hold it less toward the end of a load. I think I do this in part due to irritation (by that time, my throat is starting to feel a bit dry) and in part a holdover from my combustion days. I was more of a beggar back then, and would smoke when someone offered to share, so I would hold it for about 15-20 seconds, eventually I tapered back to 10-15. Now i just want to be sure I am making efficient use of my stash and my lungs. I take long fresh breaths between hits, just to keep my lungs clean and ready for the next hit. I notice I cough a lot less now.

Nice man. Lemme know how it goes. I think you will be pleasantly surprised

I have been vaping with the Cloud on 12:00 position for a few weeks now. It provides much better quality re-vapes. This is ultra helpful now that i have the Pax as i use it primarily for re-grinded re-vapes.

I like to do what I call a staged exhale. I inhale the vape, hold for 2-3 seconds, exhale approx. 1/3 or less of lung capacity, re-inhale air to fill up lungs, hold for 2-3 seconds and then exhale 1/3 again, repeat as many times as desired. I know this sounds corny but on the re-inhale of air I feel like it mixxes everything up and allows the blood vessels in the lungs to be exposed to maybe a few missed canabinoids. I vape now, but used to do this with smoke, there was always a good amount of smoke on each exhale. It's harder to tell with vape cause you can't see it too well. Ya know! I have no Idea if there is anything to this or not but it's just kind of a habbit now.

For a heartier, heavier stone, re-vape on the inhales, till you can't inhales no more. >;^ )

I too hold mine for 10 seconds, exhale slightly, then inhale again, but I can't do it till I see no more vapor 'cause the LSV gives such huge hits, that I'd be doing that all day on one hit.
I'm new to vaping,
I find that if I hold my hits in longer I get a significantly more sedative effect versus holding them in less time, I've often wondered if there are certain cannabinoids that are more efficiently absorbed given more time in contact with the lungs.
That said, when I vape with friends I find i tend to hold my hits in for less time. On my own I fairly frequently take deep inhales and exhales for about 30 seconds prior to taking the hit then I fully exhale and take a HUGE hit and hold that bastard in! dab style room spinning!

In college it was a party trick, now it's a dam habbit. LOL

Mark4MMJ,
I'm in the majority in that i hold it in for just about 5 seconds(voted for 0-5).
The act of holding my breath longer seems to me to get other things too involved like simple oxygendeprivation and the physical/psychological effects of interrupting your regular breathing pattern and thereby altering/adding(or even improving if you'd like) to the effect cannabis has on its own.
I do like to exhale quite slowly and with the Verdamper that can give you quite thick clouds to 'play with'.
Might not be the most efficient usage, but luckily i'm not in short supply of my prefered herb.;)
