Oh I don't disagree that efficient extraction is important, I'm questioning how one can objectively measure that as a user without any scientific means of measuring.

Subjectively, I find the flavor to be just as potent as from my SSV. I get a nice, strong effect, but poor vapor production. The weed comes out an almost homogenous dark brown on the highest heat setting. So now what, how do I objectively quantify that experience, ya know? From my experience it is efficient with material and energy consumption. For a friend with considerably lower toelrance, where one hit on one petal heat will send her to the moon, is this is even more efficient, for her?

I just had my first good session, much happier. Dryer herbs, fine ground and full oven tamped down to half with oven lid as someone here had mentioned as a tip.

With my Pax 1, I would usually only use it on Medium. I would turn it on, let it heat, hit it twice (two 10-15 second pulls), and turn it off. I'm not looking to get blasted, I'm trying to medicate. That is all I need and it keeps me functional. When I turn it off, it still cooks for a good 30-45 seconds, not to mention time between the hits. With a half oven, this leaves my material slightly brown.

Same batch of material, in the Pax 2, was not brown but rather still green after one hit on 3 petals, of about 15-20 secs. This temp is slightly higher and it definitely seems to cook less, still.
Side note: my hits are longer on the P2 because it DEFINITELY produces better vapor with a much much slower pull.

I'd love to actually test this, to see if there's a difference in extraction. I feel like it's about the same, but without the uneven heating you'd see in the first Pax. I'm getting a much more even ABV as others have mentioned.

A full TIGHTLY packed oven produces impressive clouds. Very impressed, I also own a crafty which has slightly better flavor and cloud production, but the pax2 beats it in every other category.

After 2 sessions, I pop out abv brick and put it back upside down (no stirring) for a couple more sessions

I don't understand how people are saying they're not getting dense clouds. Probably not doing something right. I pack mine up with fine grind and hit it on level 2 about 3 times and get big dense clouds, then on 3 like 6 times, clouds get bigger, lastly I turn it to 4 and get like 5 big hits n get the same sized clouds I used to get from blunts. I've been having to control my hits because so much dense vapor comes out that I get coughing fits.

I'm new to the vape game but the clouds are as big, if not bigger, than when I used to combust.

I'd like to hear just how you get that brick out and turned upside down without it breaking apart in the process! I know this is quite a silly thing to ask, but what's your method?

Mine just came today so I need to do some trial and error but I'm not getting much in the way of clouds at all. I'm getting a buzz, but not seeing much.

Just received the pusher after ordering the sandwich. Tried the pusher with a load which barely covered the floor of the original screen. Got impressively medicated with a good tasting 4 draws at 1 and then a few more draws going up to 4. Before I have used a folded up screen. The pusher seems to work better and is easier to adjust. Now waiting for the other half of samdwich

Questions for the top guys or pushers....
    1. Why do you think PAX got rid of the metal on the oven lid???
    2. Why do you think putting a piece of metal back into the oven is a great idea?

Just a small mod for those that would like to use raised mouthpiece without the heat.

Take raised mouthpiece and use a razor blade or sharp object to remove the raised silicone around the 2 intake holes. Then plug the hole on side where intake pipe runs up.

This will make the vapor change course and cools it down to around the same level as the flat mouthpiece. If not ready to make the cuts can just block off just the one hole over intake (I used a seed) and lift mouth piece up a tad to test.

After thinking more I would have just removed half of each of the intake circles. The one that is blocked would have cut just half of circle closest to middle area. On the other side would have cut out that half that was away from the middle. That way it would have channeled the longer way around.

Same here. The vapor production is amazing using a similar method. Only difference is I start on the lowest temp and work my way up. I stir and pack the oven in between level 2 and 3 and again in between level 3 and 4.

The only time I see no clouds is when I do not want to see clouds. Holding in the draw until the room goes a little black around the edges..... blow out..... no clouds except the ones I am floating in :)

    JCBSIDES -

If you are feeling the effects that's all that counts. If you want to see the clouds stand in front of the window....... not sarcastically (although you can see the clouds from the window), but the light coming through the window shows the clouds as you exhale that you normally cannot see.

If it tastes good and feels good, it is good.

Packing it in tightly and drawing slowly works to make some clouds but I usually end up coughing, even at level two heat. By the time I get it to max heat the flavor is pretty foul, and the vapor is minimal. Maybe it's due to different points of reference, but I consider the output of my volcano and ssv to be "big clouds" (not that I expect a portable to mimic this). If I can exhale a cloud that blocks out my window or TV, yeah, that's a big one :)......also probably pretty wasteful given all of that is not getting absorbed by my lungs, :(

Easy, first off it must be packed tight! Real tight! After about 2-3 sessions, remove oven lid, tap pax on hard surface a few times and it pops right out in a perfect brick shape. Carefully put brick back in oven green side down. You will now get a couple more sessions with clouds as big as a freshly packed oven. Of course the taste won't be as good but the clouds will be, guaranteed ✌️

Sorry, I want to see clouds and get effect, so far honestly I have been a bit disappointed with the vapor production with the pax 2

I have had a Pax 1 for a year plus and a Pax 2 now for a few weeks. The material gets stuck int he oven if you pack it "tight" as you mentioned. I did it on power level 2 and maybe a draw or two on 3. I needed a brush 99% of the time to get the stuff out. no clue how you are getting it out so easily. Other readers don't plan on it being as easy as stated above.

In my experiences, which I have many, the best way to use the pax is to fill the oven half full and put a tobacco screen in there and draw until it taste like burnt popcorn. Clean, refill and repeat. The pusher worked nice but was too much fiddling around. Similar to messing with the screen and stuff but the screen didn't impact draw resistance and pack the stuff in like the pusher did.

Also, note that with the pusher in you can only fill the over with a very minimal amount of material or the oven lid will stick up. It rests on the handle of the pusher and does not fit flush with the unit itself. A little bit of pressure on either side of the oven lid will cause it to come off and potentially make a mess. Just an FYI

im getting really good clouds and effect on heat level 1 with a fully packed oven... not to mention the taste is SUPERB at that lowest level... the new algorithym that sends it into superheat mode for 5 seconds when your lips touches the mp superheats the oven enough to produce good vapors clouds even on heat level 1 and it is very very tasty

Maybe because the P1 lid would fly off when dropped or sharp blow.
I think in some way you will be breathing something else from the lid with your herb.
I also wonder of it will dent easier than the P1 tank because of the thinner walls?
That popping off oven lid and a too slick surface without a rubberized strip would be my only complaints about the rugged Pax Classic.

Cloud production is subjective. One person might think clouds are big and another small.

My biggest gripe so far is the material that is getting stuck in the feet of the screen. Needs to be cleaned more often

What's the benefit of using a tobacco screen or the "pusher" mod? I fill the oven half full without any screen, spacer or pusher and get huge clouds and also get quite medicated. I just don't understand why you need anything at all to get great results...

It will be interesting to see what type of accessories Pax will offer. @Ojan_at_PAX stated they'd have a full line of Pax2 accessories available for purchase by the end of April!

Hey fc, just some things I've found useful to know about the Pax since I got it a few days ago.

At first I had found the draw resistance unbearably tough as it was harder than the original Pax and I hadn't learnt my way around the device. In fact, the harder resistance obscures (and cause it is a convection vape, probably is the reason of) one of the most charming aspects of this unit. Which is that sips are denser and tastier than before. I am noticing a change in my habits using this device as I stop attempting to take big long drags that overload the heater even in the balmy N. California nights and instead sip for a tasty and almost ritualized session. Like drinking caffeine in a cafe, the new Pax is making vaporizing an experience in and of itself - a far cry from the one hitter MFLB and the almost skeudomorphic blunt like original Pax.

Another thing is, really pressing your material in and having it cling together is good enough for heater efficiency and even not having bits stick to the oven piece. The talk of needing a 15$ spacer seems extravagant when just pushing the load in is such an effective method.

Lastly, it is not so much the material smelling in the oven as the residue on the mouthpiece that makes the unit especially odorous. Before pocketing the unit after use, I wipe the mouthpiece and the metal perimeter that forms the hidden draw slit with an alcohol wipe. This makes for an incredibly inconspicuous device that looks like a music player when paired with earphones and the mouthpiece removed. Also, the silver brushed finish makes it look like it's from the future. I would have appreciated powdered finish and colour variety of the previous iteration though.

    1. It does make better vapor than the pax 1.
    2. You do not need a spacer/pusher to use smaller amounts.
    3. You can use the lowest setting and get good vapor for longer times.
    4. When you learn to use the tall mp you will not burn. It is the only one I use. The flat mp get all the alloy sticky and you got to put your lips on the metal.

    - The bad:
    5. I really want to know when are they going to give the oven temps.? That is wierd you launch a vape without giving its temp.
    6. Why use plastic in the oven (oven lid). This is kind of worry me I do not care if they say it does not out gas.
    7. The screen seems thinner and easier to break, gets clogged easily if not cleaned every 4/5 sessions.
    8. I do not see any algorythm or whatever it is that activates the mp when you touch it. It just looks is goes idle faster.
