Yea, the speed settings are what dictate the modes on the nighthawk routers. Try setting up a 2.4 and 5Ghz network, 5 for your normal devices (assuming you don't have a giant place or you have redundant routers) and 2.4 for older devices and the hex nail. I'm using a nighthawk right now, but I'm in the office until 8am central time. I'll login and check out my settings when I get home and I'll post here so you can see my setup.

Hex-HN01 will let me type in wifi password, but never actually connects. HN-02 connects, but seems to have issues maintaining connection. Had it for over two months and it has been gathering dust. Trying hard to keep the faith here, but damn CS is all promise with no execution. I've got a recent email letting me know I'll hear back "today," after weeks of silence, and then "today" never came. I hate the idea of selling both and using another enail. Hex was my first and I like the company... just tough when I've never been able to get my HN-01 connected (I've had it for almost a year) and my HN-02 came not working out of the box.

Is it still true that you must have wifi to even use the HN-02? It seemed to be the case last time I hooked mine up and tried (which is insane to me, as my HN-02 was going to be my "on the go" hex). Anyways, just a lot of frustration with the current outcome of my 400$+300$ investments... or 300+300, whatever they cost lol idc about that, I just want it to work. I'd have paid another 100 per device if they worked outright.

I have an issue with the idea that someone has to rearrange network settings to use their nail... it's a non-sequitur for me. There is clearly an issue with something in the HN software or setup that should be patched. I know, easier said than done, but that's kind've why we pay money for the devices. If the website had said "will have compatibility with highend netgear routers," I would not have made the purchase. If I hadn't believed the word of the developer (assuring me I would have a fixed HN01 and a functional HN02) I wouldn't have purchased the HN02 while still negotiating a fix for my HN01.

It's all just frustrating to try and deal with and get nowhere on. Anyways, hope everyone is at least enjoying a little vapor this evening.

The Hex-Nail team is aware and agrees. They mentioned previously in the thread that AP mode will be coming soon. This means the unit will create its own WiFi network, as it does when not connected, but you will be able to access the webapp locally on the unit from that WiFi network. This will allow you use the HN-02 as a mobile unit as you had originally planned.

@ensabbahnur I'm back home now. I have the Netgear R6700v2 - Firmware V1.2.0.14_1.0.1 (about to update that, though). My HN-02 is connected to my 2.4 network. 2.4 settings:

I have the router set to use DHCP; if you're using DHCP for IP address distribution, ensure that you have enough available in the pool. I also have another router w/ DDWRT which the HN has worked with, so if you want those settings let me know. Hopefully the above screens do the job!

I just showed Liz these posts and she's looking into it right now. She said 'There might be some stuff we can do here.' after an initial once over. I'll get back to you with more asap.

Sorry if I've been a little slow this week guys. I've been sick as a dog on top of the knee injury and it's just been brutal. Liz has been burning the midnight oil a lot and progress is being made on all fronts.

EDIT: If anyone would be interested in buying some of our headier pieces check out these posts and let me know if you'd like to pick one of these up. We're trying to get some more funds together to place another coil order. I didn't really want to let these go but I know they'd go to good home being posted here.

I changed the speed down and set it to a channel vs auto and that seems to have done the trick, Im not to mad about it because the only things on my 2.4 are smart bulbs, plugs and strips so they are not hurting for speed. Im still not sure why this was necessary to get the Queen to connect again, the speed setting should only change the channel width?

Thanks @JigMelon for the assistance and the pics, got me up and running again!

No problem! Quick thing, though; if you look at the pics again, I'm using N. I have it set to "Up to 450" without any issues. Maybe the issue was the channel conflicting with something else. May be worth trying again with a static channel at top speed if you want that throughput back.

More updates coming within the next couple of days to the blog. Had a pretty intense sessions with my Chiropractor & Acupuncturist yesterday that wiped me out but I'm finally feelin' a bit better today (walking is nice, ya know?) and trying to get back on the ball. There's a few shipments going out today, too.

We're also ordering more parts today. If you didn't end up getting a 25mm coil in the first batch and you'd like one in the next run please contact me as soon as possible so we can get you on the list. Remember, these are our new custom specced 25mm, 150w, 110/220v. Trying to finally make these larger sizes affordable for 'regular folks'.

Wanted to say thank you to the guys helping out with some of the more odd networking issues that have come up. One thing I can definitely confirm is that putting your Hex-Nail on a less 'busy' Wi-Fi channel will definitely help with connection / delay issues.

    ------

Lastly, again, we have a couple of our more prized Heady pieces up for sale to help with a lot of our latest expenses. Reasonable prices on great glass, and if you're already a customer I'll give you an even better deal. PM me for details. These are 2 of my favorite rigs. They both hit like a dream.

    Hola PP:
    Am I having past flashbacks??
Is that a Versa Infinity base/stand??
I remember that, where the FP is sitting, it was supposed to be rigged to an air pump, home aquarium style, via a hose. Am I wrong?? Man, my Versa Infinity was a hardcore convection hitter. I’d should have kept the base... jajajaja
    Nice video BTW.
I’m planning to enter the e-nail world through HexNail and FP maybe, besides @HexNailAva we live at the same city. Rose City. Welcome to the PNW.

Hey guys. Wanted to come in and give y'all some more info on what's going on...We had some units go out last week and by next week there should be another fairly large chunk going out if all goes well as we have fresh parts coming in.

More parts have arrived today. I'll try to get a bigger blog update together soon. Apologies if things seem dark the last week or so. Haven't been really feeling good / myself...but I wanted you all to know things are still getting done each day.

Thanks for your understanding and patience as we continue sending out units.

Updates coming today/tomorrow to the site blog, folks. Sorry for the delay.

We'll be closing Round 3 sales soon, by the way. We're going back into full production mode to take care of all our current orders.

We've got Skynet & Red Queen units to build. More parts on order and more going together now. Been trying to keep up with communique but it's been more tough than usual lately.

Good day, folks! I have been having some recurring issues recently with my hex-nail.

After using this thing successfully for over a month, now I am having connectivity issues. Even when the indicator light is the proper steady blue, my interface/controller no longer controls anything, nor can I make any changes to it. The indicator light also increasingly goes to the flashing green mode for no apparent reason. Although I cannot control or make any changes the nail is still heating too I suppose the last set temperature I was working with... but again, even when the connection is established and the light ring is a solid blue, the interface seems locked up.

Additionally, I know I saw a post or two from the gals specifically discussing settings for quartz nails and I see none of that under equipment options. What’s the lowdown?

    Thanks!

can someone please direct me towards where I can find some info on the advanced tuning settings?

I just started using my red queen, and i'm finding that the "up temp" mode only fully activates just as i'm finishing the dab, rather than when I need it to... played around with the settings a bit, but can't figure out how to get it right so far.

for example, if I just let the "up-temp" run without dropping a dab in, it will drop by 15 degrees and climb back up to set temp quickly. but, if i drop the dab in when its dropped by 15 degrees, it will keep dropping lower, by like another 10, and only start heating up when I'm just about done with the dab.

Uptemp mode LOWERS the temperature of the thermal, and you place the concentrate in when it's at a lower temperature, and it heats up as the coil goes back to its dormant temp. I think what you're looking for is Glob mode. I usually use Uptemp -40 for 60 seconds, and I dab when there are 5-10 seconds left in that. After I get my first rip in, I turn on Glob mode at +15 for 60 seconds. At the end of that 60 seconds, I usually have minimal to no vapor production, while still having residual to swab. This is with an insert.

yeah, when i place the concentrate at a lower temperate, that temperate just keeps going lower below what I wanted it to drop to.... It takes FOREVER to start heating up again.

I usually do 2 lung-full pulls per dab, and by the time this thing just STARTS heating up, I'm done with the 1st pull....

so far, i'm having a much easier time doing a manual uptemp on my d-nail unit. I set the temp 10 degrees lower, it drops, I set it 10 degrees higher, it climbs. no guess work or frustration with a wispy, too low temp dab like i've been getting with the hex nail so far.

You may need to adjust your choices on the Equipment tab or change the values manually. You also might want to consider just placing the concentrate in even later if it behaves the same consistently. I don't think the readout accuracy is as important as its consistency. As long as you can get consistency, you should be able to find the timing that works best for your setup.

if only there was a guide included that had some explanations for what the manually adjustable values mean....

dropping a dab in later isn't an option as the temperature shoots up VERY fast when there is no temperature resistance being created by the dab and by the carb cab pushing cool air from above.... so, if I wait until it starts increasing temp to drop the dab, by the time it slides off the dabber, it's already too late.

i need it to work as intended.... as in, I drop the dab at the desired LOWERED temperature and as soon as it reaches that temperature, it needs to shoot back up instead of going lower another 10 degrees before starting a slow climb up

If I can do this manually on my d-nail with ease, why cant I do this with the hexnail when it's one of it's selling points?

another thing, for whatever reason, if I just leave the nail be without touching anything, it keeps fluctuating in temp.... I have it set to 534, and it will drop to like 520 on it's own, then overshoot to like 547, then repeat....

    Hey @HexNailAva ,

just looked at your site and saw that the Skynet is currently $600! Why does it cost twice as much than the Red Queen? Sorry, I don't know but all I can see as a layman in comparison is a bit more wood and a simple touch screen? Does that need an addition of $300? Ok, it's customized regarding the used wood but I've to pay extra costs depending on chosen kind of wood.

Another point. Don't get me wrong but allow me a friendly and really well-meaning advice. It doesn't look serious when you are offering the Red Queen for a discounted price of $150 and you'll see later in the description that the 150 is just a deposit such as high. It's irritating and frustrating for potential customers while reading that.

@Gn0sis, what nail are you using? On my Liger I had big temp swings like that on the Liger settings. I switched to no nail and my temps stabilized. I use the Eternal Quartz tuning for the 25 quartz banger with stable temps.

I would love some detailed explanations of each of the tuning settings, then I would take a shot at my own Liger tunings!!!
