As soon as compact electrical energy storage increases there will be a massive amount of new mobile devices available. A pocket size induction heater would be a relatively simple device, the only thing holding it back is the power consumption. Tony Stark would consider such a thing "cave man" technology.

@Willy

After 16 months of dynavaping my biggest hate is also the screens falling out, and the 3-4 attempts it takes me to replace one.
(obviously all this refers to the screen position for the smaller oven size on Ti tips)

As others have said the SS screens are tougher and last longer.

As for your outside heating issues..
Other than shielding from the wind as best as possible, or using an IH... I've found inline triple flames can help bring the click with less scortching of the herbs.

I guess the issue is that the wind reduces the speed the heat travels through the tip and to the cap, where the click happens. But your lighter is still heating the spot it's on.. Leading to overheating that area before the click..?

A quad lighter is also likely to help. A non in-line triple may be more like a dual lighter and create scortching in windy conditions.

I was actually wishing such a pocket IH existed last night while walking home with my M and torch in hand. I figured it would be technically possible to create one not much bigger than a torch. Maybe one day...

@phattpiggie had the right idea for this. Separating the battery and heater with a thin cable to join them. The battery can transport in one pocket, the heater in the other. And the battery can stay in your pocket.. Just plug it into the heater thats in your palm...

Wonderful concept, but i think phats will admit that he didn't make it as small as he could of. Some pretty chunky wood enclosures were used if I remember correctly...

I've been thinking about this route myself, but being a bit lazy... I'm worried if DV release theirs before i build my own I'll never bother :)

I’m torn between really wanting a portable induction heater, and also thinking the very idea is a little silly.

Just now in my foggy brain I was like “what would be awesome is if someone combined a vapcap and a heater all into one unit”.

Then I realized I had just described a portable battery powered vape.

I don't think that's allowed to be said? There's an NDA for VCDC memebers.

Unfortunately I was too late for the VCDC thing, hopefully next time.

But from what I read in other media, the DV IH testers are now on v2, and have been so for at least a couple of months. Again, it's hear say, but these seem to be being tested hard before release, which isn't great for impatient people, but the right way for a decent product.

idk as much as I like the simplicity in the IH, its innovative and intuitive. I love using a torch, there is something primitive, yet instinctual, perhaps another reason I prefer driving a manual 5 speed in bumper to bumper traffic. When DV eventually comes out with their units well then good on them, for now all is well using a decent burner.
@Willy sorry to hear that about the CCD's, on windy days I rarely bring out the VC, but as stark stated yea use your body as a windshield and try using a quad or triple.

I must say, I have NEVER had a screen, TI or SS, that has “fallen out” or even been loose.
I suspect it may be a flaw in the LE tips? I have two of the 7-fin Ti and two 5-fin SS, so I’ve done plenty of messing with screens.

You have to press them in until they click into place, if they don’t click, they’re not actually installed yet...

My post was taken wrong. but no biggie. I have a Mollie suspended Black Rock Outdoor Media Pouch is just the ticket to carry on your hip. The problem with a pocket IH is the battery tech. I don't think button batteries will power an IH.
You could always get a long extension cord and carry a "Jarhead" in your shirt pocket.
I carry my Mini on my hip daily. Doc

That you talk of SS tips makes me think you’re missing the issue. . I don’t think anyone complains of screens falling out of the bottom screen position like the SS tips can only be.
The Ti tips have two more screen positions making the bowl smaller (little grooves on the inside of the ti tip) this is where the screens falling out becomes an issue.

That I talk of two Ti tips with the bowl-depth adjustments tells you I know damn well what we’re talking about and that I’ve practiced. If you don’t press the screen into the tip until you both feel it seat and hear it seat, you’ve done it wrong and it will fall out. Doc’s nut/bolt is a good tool, the end of a Bic Stik ballpoint pen is a good tool.

Yes, it can be tricky, and frankly, one of the things I like about having as many tips as I have is, I don’t need to change bowl positions much. Develop the knack, or realize the gap is in your skill set, not in your equipment (barring, of course, the possibility of an error in the LE7 production, like I said before).

Doc - laughing my ass off at the image of a jarhead in a shirt pocket....

the dynavap rips very well for water but I find I dont get many good quality hits off it, I might be using it incorrectly but I only get about 2 good flavorful hits until I replace the herb, at that point its already too brown for my liking(usually go 3 seconds past the first click so I can get some decent clouds). My friends mighty is crazy you can get like 10 hits and the herb is still somewhat green. Ofc you get what you pay for.

In my LE tip, ti screens would fall out from the bottom position, that is the only one I ever use. It's only ever happened with my LE though, not the other two ti's I have. It doesn't bother me since I don't use smaller doses, the SS ccds fixed it for me, but I can imagine some people must be frustrated.

How much material are you putting in the mighty, and what kind of clouds are you getting with the mighty? With the dynavap I get 3-4 hits per capful. 1st 1-2 are flavor, then hits 2 or 3-4 are toasty but big clouds. From what I’ve seen so far, without putting in more material, you either get terpenes or clouds.

I’m kind of curious about the need to change the bowl size. Can’t one just put less material in? Is it just for ease in consistently measuring?

Yeah some people just don't want to futz with it. If I want a partial bowl I just fill it normally then tap out the excess lol

I am blown away by how cool @DDave's Dynavap M/Water Wand Kit is. Everything a vaporist needs in a very small package. And if taken care of, it'll last forever. That's an amazing deal. And if you already have an M, then the wands and the WP are more than worth the $.

I use my Water Wands every day. I'll be making stem milk soon, and after that they are so easy to clean with a bit of a soak in PBW while the tips soak in ISO. Shake 'em, rinse 'em, dry 'em, and start collecting honey all over again.

I own a mighty and find that it takes nearly three full vapcaps worth of herb to fill it. So it’s not like the Mighty is getting better efficiency it just has more capacity.

If you’re heating past the click then you’re probably only going to get 2-3 good hits. It’s really not that much herb and the vapour is pretty dense, so you’re getting what you put in.

@Willy here's how I got a proper windproof torch for the VC.
I have a length of aluminium tube which I cut to fit my Aomai torch

I wrapped it in paper stickers to see how hot is was going to get, I figured they'd scorch or discolour if the aluminium absorbed too much heat. They changed slightly which meant if I followed it up in the future I could go with a thin wall silicone tube over the metal instead.

To put it to the test I vaped while walking up and down the garden. The first version was thick wall SS but it absorbed too much heat and got hot and stayed hot. It proved the point, it was used whilst out in a canoe.

The thin wall ali tube gets warm but sheds the heat very quickly.
Sadly it disappeared at Spannabis.

The SS version had the torch top cover removed the ali version retained it.

In the summer I use one of these for my portside mini and you can fit a 'cap and some herb in the front. I put my keys on the clip so it's just a really big keyring not a man bag or fanny pack :uhoh:- one of my friends saw me outside a pub dipping my Vapcap into this litlle bag and said "please don't tell me that bag is heating that bloody thing" well ok , but yeah! was the response! ps @Pipes is the man! The IH King!

Sorry, i wasn't trying to be rude, I just thought you'd miss-understood. But obviously not.

I feel my skill set is actually pretty high for such things, and my screens are always sat securely in the groove when I'm done.
But screens still pop out from time to time, and it's rarely at a convenient time :)

I love love love my DVs but as a smallest bowl only user, this topic remains my one and only issue with Dynavaps.
