Time for some more RZ2 Porn. Some of these we have seen before, some not. Some will be leaving today for Beta testing.

Those are gorgeous Rick, when can we expect to see some of these models available for purchase? Also, how will you plan to sell the multiple wood "styles", as many are very intricate, and I can see the two vibrant color ones in the photos you posted. Thanks!

Wow Rick great work, you're really stepping it up a notch (or 10)!

You mentioned you got a new lathe, what one did you get and how are you liking it?

My mail arrived early today..... :brow:

First impression out of the box? Wow, this thing is small! It weighs about the same as the RockZap1 that I have, but has much sleeker lines. Nice wood too; elm. Visually, it's very nice; small, compact, streamlined. Not much of the heatport showing due to the rounding of the top and ceramic ring covering the majority of it. So okay you're saying....what's it look like?!? Here you go:

And compared to the other Zaps; new beta on left, old school MZ in the middle and RockZap1 on the right:

Here's a shot of the top of the new Zap:

And a shot of the new SS stem:

Now, you are wondering; how does it work? Is it all it's supposed to be?

Oh.Baby.

I plugged it in and tried it out before a half hour had gone by. Had been told by the Zaplady that these don't need any overnight warm up. Try it now... So I did. Hmmmm...warm to the touch. Took a hit and coughed my brains out. The first hit was so huge I wasn't at all ready for it. Who would have though that this Zap could possibly be warm enough for more than a wispy hit? Well, let me tell you this thing makes the RockZap1 a dinosaur. kewpcer was totally right about the dodo reference. Not that mine doesn't work well, it's just that there's no comparison in looks and size and this thing does work better. The warm up time is quicker and the heat more consistent (not all the beta RockZaps performed as well as mine did). Although the weight is about the same, the size will be much better for glass users.

And now, about the stems. Because the diameter of the stem tip is larger, I believe the draw has improved. I'm even willing to go out on a limb here and say that this might have solved a majority of the learning curve with this vape. There's much more air flow, so as long as you don't overstuff the stem or pack it too tightly, there should be no problem. I use the straw method and lightly smooth and tamp the end with my finger to seat the herb and make sure there's no stragglers hanging over. This thing hits like a freight train. I'm happy to say that I get just as big of hits with this as I do with a whip style vape. Lung busters. Now, I was supposed to count hits.... I hadn't vaped in a couple days because I haven't been well... my tolerance has gone down.... Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep track of these things when you are getting blazed as hell?!? I know I missed one every here and there. I've noticed I'm getting more hits. Not just one big one and a few small, but 4 good hits before they become wispy (I think it was four...a few times it was 5 :uhoh: ). The real trick is to not get too big of a first hit. And to take the stem out of the Zap each hit so it doesn't "cook" in there. I got more, substantial hits that way than when I left it in there (inadvertently :ko: ) So, I'll have to get back to you on that exact count. ;) I don't know...did I leave anything out? Fire the questions off if I did. I'll be testing all day/evening; Zaplady told me I should and I do want to do a good job!

Wonderful review, mom. Very insightful. I'm surprised at how much smaller they are than the traditional Zaps. I'm also curious, along with SleepyHead, how Rick plans to distribute these new styles. Honestly, I'm not too thrilled with the designs I see. Some are pretty cool (moms being my favorite), but I hope the traditional 'soda can' remains an option.

Wow, Mom :o

that is amazing, and your first experience with it seems awesome! sounds like it was a good ol' time ;)

I really like the size and shape of yours and the grain is pretty too! all around a great unit, hard to believe thats still one of the beta ones, which i think already have the go ahead from Rick. :)

is the body of the stem different? in that picture it looks a lot more white then the old brass stem i have in front of me, but that could simply be the light in your photo....

I have a very similar tube to what you and Vito have, its my 11" SSFG straight tube, and its like my main tube since its solid and real simple(plus I added a nice downstem for it). I cant wait for the new glass :science:

Enjoy your new Zap

Congratulations mom. It is a beauty.
It looks to be about the size of a Toasty Top. Maybe a little smaller in diameter. Have you taken any photos of your TT?
Do the Toasty Tubes fit in the new Zap and vice versa?

The traditional 'soda can' is available now in the traditional wood insulated Zap and if we get any demand, we will do the RockZap2 in a "traditional log vape style".
Our plan is several lines of RockZap2 with variation in each line because this is wood, first and foremost. Each piece of wood is different from any other. Each turning is totally different from any other turning. Each tweak of the chisel does something different. No two Zaps will ever be exactly the same because they are wood.
Here are some of the lines or categories we are planning for RockZap2.

First, because they do seem to be popular, will be THE RETRO line. All colored in some way. This is a food grade dye and will stay in the wood. The nice thing about these is we can use alot of maple and other lighter, plainer woods as they take the dye well. We will have some incredible stuff to show very soon in the RETRO line.

THE SHROOM will be different designs of the Mushroom shape. We may even have some RETRO in the SHROOM category. That would be cool. Oe maybe we will have some SHROOMS in the RETRO category?

And then, because Ricky is in charge and he is over 65 now and says WTF, we will have THE ZAPPYNESS line. "Happiness with your Zappyness" Who knows where that will go. The hot pink one in the middle would qualify as the one next to it.

There will be THE BASIC or some similar line for simple smooth lines. Some of the Zaps in my pic above would qualify. moms Beta shown would be in that category.
BTW mom, thank you for the fine pics and initial review. I know you have a tough job but.......what can I say? Thank you again.

I am sure other lines will happen as days go by and we get some customer feedback. We will adjust as time passes. The beauty of these units is they all run the same, or VERY close to the same since we are not using the wood to insulate. Instead, we get to use the wood to titillate.
We expect to have some units up by the weekend, again, if plans go as scheduled. I must say things are actually ahead of schedule considering the concrete cup is history. Some of the Zaps you see above did have the concrete liner originally but were recycled to the latest insulated design. My guide through this roller coaster ride is insuring I get my shit together and is giving me all the support he can.
kewpcer, if you do not get a favorite, we will trade you out something at a later date if you want. Same for all the Betas.
NYC, I think it is the lighting. We did get some new stem stock in yesterday that seems whiter but mom did not get it.

Sorry if I missed this, but if the diameter of the tips is bigger, does that mean it holds more overall? Or is it shorter to compensate?

Amazing developments Rick!! Still delivering the awesome news over and over
The green one you posted instantly caught my eye before the others, it is exactly the same color as my desk, and I was curious as to what wood you used. To hear that you are using dye to color the zaps is super cool and gives the buyer a lot of possibilities.
As I use my zap 99.9% from glass the smaller form factor is really appealing and the way they are turned looks like they will be a super comfortable fit in the hand.

My RockZap1 has made its mark as my go to vaporizer and runs plenty hot as I have mentioned.
I don't usually get stuck using any one vape for long periods of time considering the 11 or more different vapes I own, I usually mix it up.... Not so much anymore
My old log vapes have generally been for just my personal use when I'm vaping by myself.
My RockZap1 has changed this, I now use it for all situations be it by myself or in a group as it hits as hard as most vapes and saves me by using a lot less product! I still give the others a run but it's 75% of the time vaping done on the zap 25% of the time amongst the rest! A bias leaning heavily towards Zapville :D

that turquoise one is a beauty. really stunning!

Rick, you must be very proud. It is amazing how far this has come so fast.

Great review mom. Of what you remember.......

vito, I assume that one to the left is yours. She is a beauty too.

the mushroom shapes are intriguing as they would rest well in the hand. I like the idea of "grips" so to speak.

Alan, I've done you an awful disservice! Go look at your thread... ;) Yes the height of the TT is the same as the new RockZap I have. The diameter of the Top, however, is larger. The tubes for the Top do fit the Zap; exactly the same as the new SS stems from Rick.

And NYC, the color of this stem is the exact same as the others I have in brass. Must have been the lighting. I do love my new glass tube a lot! I just did a lovely hit off a stem that I had already gotten 5 large hits from. After that, there were still 2 small hits left. This thing is awesome.

SD_haze, the tip is bigger, but not by much. I would assume it holds more, but doesn't have to be filled all the way to work. If conserving is a big issue, half stem works just fine and gives huge hits.

ob, I gotta tell you, I had to have a conversation with my daughter on the phone right after posting the review. It was absurd. I kept laughing inappropriately. Good thing she's on to me... and thinks it's fun.

The patina finishes are amazing Rick, but I think if I have you make another then you already have the block for it. Just down to the shape I'd like, hehe.

I'm gonna sizzle my RZ1 through the tube a couple of times before I go back to my lab and finish up, and then head to a show.

So now I see how this whole log thing is supposed to work. Ive read what feels like hundreds of posts about the connection you all have with your log. How comforting it is to hold, how reliable it is to get a nice solid hit from. How they work themselves into your medication ritual and stay there because they make the whole experience more pleasant. Well. after spending some quality time with the Beta unit I can say with 100% sincerity YOU WERE NOT LYING!!! THIS LITTLE BABY SMOKES!!!
Holy Crap! What a difference from my initial unit. My very first stem, the very first pull, produced a cloud. It was glorious! Any doubts, misgivings, regrets or questions about why you all would lie to me vanished like so much vapor.
My first RZ1 was underwhelming, I could get small amounts of vapor out of a stem but, truly it felt like I was just wasting my meds. No matter how pretty I thought she was, I had to send her back. Rick handled it like a champ, not only did he let me know that he would make it right. He offered to send me out one of the new Beta units to try and see how they work. With the assurance that if I wanted to change the unit out for a different wood in the future hed be happy to do it. What company does that?? Ive been a serious consumer for almost 20 years with a penchant towards smaller operations. Ive had dealings with a lot of different people & companies. No company has ever made me an offer like that. Draw what conclusion you like from this but, mine is a simple

Thank you Rick!!!

So back to the new ZAP beta, she is tiny! Much smaller than the RZ1. About the size of a RedBull. Ive been keeping track of her outside temperature and it starts at about 95F at the base and steadily moves up to 130F at the top. She feels perfect when you hold her. Nice and solid, the finger grooves almost melt into your hand. The warmth makes me yearn for a cold winters day. Ok, not quite that much ? But, she sure does feel good on my pain wracked hands.
I have run less than a handful of stems through her but, the results are tremendous. I feel better than I have in the past 2 weeks. That is saying a lot. As I look at my watch, I just realized that the past hour has literally slipped by. Thats a sure sign of how potent this little beast is. Im SOLD!! What a great invention/evolution.

Thank you Rick!!

I will continue to try her out this evening and see where she takes me.
A few observations:
The port where the transformer plugs into the unit seems to get a little hot. I havent been able to verify it with the Thermo gun. Most likely, I am feeling the different way the heat comes off of the wood .vs the metal inlay.
The toasty fingers for the careless, is not an issue on this unit. Stray fingers dont get zapped by the top heat port a small issue with the RZ1
The Brass stems fit a little loose I think Rick mentioned a sleeve to make the brass stems fit better. ( I need to get 4 of these Rick & a new glass tooty SS)
The inlay work on the stripes is terrific. Really adds character.
This unit doesnt have an LED, I miss that warm beckoning glow on my desk

Im sure there will be more to report after the Beast and I spend some additional time together. Ill try and get some pics up as well.
Thank You Rick!

I am so glad you finally experienced what the rest of us have known.

Rick is a great guy who provides truly superior service.

This is a amazing device.

Congrats! Super happy for you. What a day. I get so excited every time I check in here. There is so much positive energy. I want the entire vaping community to own one of these. I spend two hours on sunday basically talking someone into getting one.

edit. mom, I just read your comments and it literally brought a huge smile to my face. I needed that. I had a super long day. Thanks!

I'm not to crazy about the buttplug shaped models, but I absolutely love the looks and size of the one mom has. By the sound of it they would be perfect if you ship them out with a 13.5V power supply and variable temp.. :brow:

Does the AVB get very dark with these new guys, testers? How would you describe the color?

We are so glad you are happy. When you were having problems with RockZap1, it was very clear to us that you were trying. Trying everything. We would grab on this or that and say, "well, maybe if you tried this or that......"(we means the Zapville FC family) I had a gut feeling we were not on the right track.
So good to hear you like the new version and actually are experiencing a vapor thing that even old Aromazap customers have not experienced. These do seem to work very well and all so close to the same performance. We can cool down the output plug heat. I took a wiring shortcut on some because they are so short, compared to the old Zaps. That is probably why you feel the heat in the plug. I neglected to include a small brass sleeve that will slide in the new SS stem sized heatport and allow you to use the old Zap stems with a nice fit. I did send one along with the Betas shipped today as mom passed on the same concern to us. We are shying away from leds on these units. They are smaller Zaps and so artful it is almost a shame to put in an led. We will probably offer that option but it will come at a price.
Thanks much for the review RumbleShorts.
OhTheAgony
Buttplug I am sure is one way to refer to the human Penis but many of us do not have the same definition of such a fun personal 'wood'. Whatever ones definition, it may prove to be popular. If not, we will discontinue the line. We are after different markets now. It is a new world out there.
BTW, if you are from the Netherlands, you may be a happy camper before too long. If I now mention the word 'Global', I am getting seriouser and seriouser. Canada, EU, AU, and The Universe only knows where else. We are talking seriously about you these days. (in the back room of course)

It makes sense to not have an LED on the new units as they are so visually stimulating already... which is why I brought up the question of the classic design. My idea for giving Moaning Myrtle some friends revolves around the LED so I'm glad you are still offering the traditional SSS Zap. I'd love to see it incorporated with the new Rock innards, but I just hope the "soda can + LED" option doesn't go away entirely because that would really kill my plans.

RumbleShorts, I'm sure I speak for everyone here that we are glad you've got yourself a proper Zap and finally see what its like here in Zapville. :) After the under-performance of your Rock1, getting such good quality vapor (off the first hit no less) must've been like Christmas morning.
