Careful, I am too lazy to go back in the thread to look at the date of my first post here, but between now and then, I think I went a little overboard.

    http://imgur.com/QO9zodj

From left to right: Nemesis Clone by Hcig with Nimbus clone, Private v2 Clone with Trident Clone, Bagua 18650 style clone with an even cheaper single airhole Trident clone.

    • Cons on Nemesis: weird size, had to use kicker ring to get battery to even fit right. Very finicky in that sense. Switch unscrews when unlocking. PRetty crunchy button that can misfire.
    • Pros: Buttery threads, solid and sleek.

    • Cons on v2: Tarnishes quickly, button switch will unscrew over time, i have preference for non telescoping devices.
    • Pros: Simple and effective

    • Cons on Bagua: Top cap has almost 2mm of play until screwed all the way down. Somewhat loud/crunchy threads.
    • Pros: Sexy switch... really great. Just as solid as nemmy but only when that top cap is just right.

    • Cons on Nimbus clone: Hex screws, needs more air.

    • Cons on trident clone: I did not adjust connection properly and pushed out center post.

    • cons on cheaper trident: way too deep of a well with low post holes. single airhole. Using this as my dabber atty, but only have a coil stuck in the bottom of the huge well for now while I wait on some ceramic stones and ss mesh/cable to come in the mail. Should be fun times!

I think I am ready to spend some $ on an American-made quality device now, so I have a Big Nasty mod preordered. Thinking about getting a Patriot to go on top but seeing what the future brings for RDA's.

Noobtips: Dont put wax on top of a silica wick that you've been vaping juice off of. It solidifies your wick into a sticky strange tasting mess and the wax will never get hot enough to be wicked all the way through. I think direct contact stainless steel meshes and/or ceramic internals will be the only way to get it to wick correctly, as was being discussed earlier :)

Are those all setup for oil?

Nemesis clone: are you sure your pins are adjusted correctly and/or using the correct tube? My bottom pin is screwed all the way down and top pin is tightened after atty is in position. I didn't have my bottom pin adjusted correctly for a while and I had similar issues with my Neme clone too. Since correcting that my throw is much less crunchy, then pin has stayed tight in place with several weeks of use and it hasn't mis fired again. I have always been able to fit an 18650/18350 without the kick ring in place though.

Trident clone dual holes: similar experience although I am not sure if I had a partial short to the post that may have caused overheating of the delrin insulator in the base to contribute. Regardless I have post movement, the 510 pin connector to the post is loose and also moves.

Taking about getting a nimbus clone thou and maybe another igo-w it's been really solid so far and theyre cheap.

Currently using the nemesis topped with an Igo-W running 1/8" drilled out air holes, 3/4 wrap ribbon wire, on 3mm ekowool wicks doubled over, clocking in at about .5 ohm pushing out about 30 watts. It gets the job done

--Nah just the Bagua/$6 trident is set up for oil/wax/shatters.

http://imgur.com/SLVtSJT *penny there for visual on how deep it is*

Doesnt work as well as I want obviously. That coiled mess runs at 2 ohms so that doesnt help. last time i tried sub ohm with a coil like this though it would just ignite the oils.

---does ekowool work with oils/wax? ive had no good experiences with it (silica) yet

Mine is working again, had to really force the center back in by hand at first then flipped it upside down and went to town on it and just pressed it down into at flat surface with the 510 connector out, and can now screw the 510 pin back in partially like how i received it, making it somewhat adjustable. drawback now is that center is crooked, which in turn sometimes makes drip tips hard to put on because of the large flathead screws on top of posts get in the way! more tweaking needed.

Also, ended up taking the bottom o ring off. tired of trying to wrestle with this thing just trying to reload some juice with both top caps off.

Ya I got the trident to work again similar to how you did it but my 510 connector loosens up so easily I end up tightening it on the neme and pushing the 510 to far in. So for now I have kinda ditched the trident which is too bad.

The ekowool works ok for me but its mostly used for juice unless the pen dies or I am getting ready to tear out the coils/dry burn any way. I have an ego pen with a generic ceramic cart that I am waiting to die then I am going to do some more experimenting with my rda. Really really like the idea of the build with ssv ceramic screen in there though. That's probably going to be first on the list or the ceramic wick (xc116 iirc)

Hey guys first post here but I've been trolling for a while trying to build my knowledge on rebuildables.
I first got introduced to concentrates and waxes a few months ago, and have currently been sitting on an Ego-Twist with Gentlemans cart for daily driver. It is amazing, and after 3-4 dabs it puts me exactly where I need to be, except now it has turned into a hobby. Anyway, I've been lurking and have been putting together a list of things that I will need in order to build my first mod and successfully rebuild an RDA.

Currently my list is as follows:

    1. Mod: The King Mod by HCigar
    http://www.vaperoyalty.com/king-mod-1/

    2. Battery: EFest 350A 18650 2500mah with 8flattop
    http://www.efestpower.com/Product/835619153.html
    3. RDA: IGO-W
    http://www.myvaporstore.com/IGO_W_Rebuildable_Atomizer_p/yd-igow.htm
    4. Ceramic Flavor Discs (as suggested)
    http://silversurfervap.com/ceramic-flavor-disc.html#

So far, I believe it looks pretty good. Please do correct me if I am wrong. The mods that I were interested in due to their reviews (Clones) were the KING, Atomo, and Caravella, and Nzonic V3.
**-if I made the wrong decision in selecting the King, please correct me :) **

Lastly, the only thing that I am not sure of is what gauge and type of wire I should use during my build. I am looking to put down between .5 and .8ohms, in which I have seen that I can use either 28, 30, or 32 gauge wire. In my mind, I think that I should use either the 28 or the 30, leaning more towards the 28 gauge.

My only question about this, is I have seen people starting to use flat ribbon wire or kanthal wire. Which do yall think would most benefit my needs, and on top of this (sorry if I missed it somewhere) how many times should I wrap the ceramic discs depending on what gauge I use? I saw in the picture that he wrapped 3 times each. I was going to do what the LucidLemonade said with two on the side and one floating disc on top. (although, shouldn't the top disc be secured somewhat so when you pull the cap off it doesnt fall on you)?

Thank you so much everyone for your endless information and infinite kindness. I hope to become a contributing member to the forum, and I wish to pass on what I learn here to those around me and also to the other members of the forum!

Hey man welcome to FC. Your shopping list looks really good. The king is a very respected mod with good numbers in regards to voltage drop. The efests are top of the line and are on my list to pick up soon. I would go with the 28ga wire for the ohms your looking for. My only caution would be that igo-w NEEDS to have the air holes drilled out its positively asthmatic stock. I used my power drill and padded the igo in a C clamp to secure it.

While checking out the efest site I saw that they're making an 18350 version of the hi discharge purple LiMn Imr batteries rated for 10.5a discharge! Which is the best I have ever heard of for an 18350. That means you could safely go to about .5 ohm in 18350 mode talk about hi power stealth dabbin  didn't see them listed forsale yet though.

    Thanks Puffers!

I forgot to add in there, is there possibly a better RDA then the Igo-W, I have no problem drilling it out, but if something is possibly easier and/or has better feedback I would love to grab that instead!

    Thank you my friend!

Your very welcome, glad I can help. There are a lot of good options out there if you don't mind spending a bit more. The Patriot, Omega, authentic Trident, and Nimbus all come to mind. Any of those would probably serve you very well for a long time. The patriot and omega also are the same 22mm diameter as most mods so they fit flush. The adjustable airflow is always a plus of course too. Let us know what you end up with and how it works for you man, give me holler if I can help out.

Thanks! I would get a clone first just because it is my first build and they're not too expensive so that takes the trident out. But I'll definitely take a look at the others, probably the Patriot and Omega like you said because things that fit flush are nice!

I've been looking, but my feeble mind can't seem to grasp this:

In the "Full melt hash" video that was posted, the dude with the tattoos filled the entire RDA with hash and then just put the drip tip on. Depending on where the air holes are, won't some of the hash/wax drip out?

Castle looks awesome except there's no clone and for my first build I wouldn't wanna drop 80+ =[ I will definitely keep in mind for the future though!

Has anyone tried an RDA with 4 coils for wax btw?

I haven't but it would probably make a load and go setup much easier if using a 5 post dripper, the igo-w3 is a good rda for quad coils and adjustable airflow. I don't know if you would want to use 28ga though it might be hard to hit .5 ohms and up.

Problem with that clone is the elongated air inlets. check out the side slits in the well. totally defeats the purpose of having a recessed deck, imo, wax would just leak everywhere. I'm looking for really tall posts, with high post holes (if i cant find that I'll just wrap around screw heads), and a deep well. I'm thinking this trident clone i have is going to do just fine until I find something of more quality. Post holes way too low to use though, if you are using both lol. I had a hell of a time. Cannot even wrap my head around how to build on the Igo W2, but its another option

i was wondering about this as well. my thoughts after seeing MileHighLife's pics a page back were that the skinnier the RDA the better. i was thinking the slimmer it is, the less space there is for oil to get stuck away from the coils. then again more coils may be better than smaller capacity... hmmm

    check out this quad coil.

    http://www.gotvapes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=197_277&products_id=2369

looks like its got a decent well. could pop the top off to see whats going without any possible spillage. ive been looking at these all the time and just cant seem to find the perfect one with the characteristics im looking for. is it possible to build one RDA for both liquids and solids?

are the trident clones no good?

oh and i am very interested in the ceramic wick and how that works out, but have either of you tried SS mesh wick?

here is the same one way cheaper... but it will take weeks coming from slowtech.

@2clicker I haven't had good luck with them so far, a couple of posts up I describe some of my problems with the post and the 510 connector. Another member had similar issues with his. I was using the 2 hole clone version from slow tech.

I haven't tried either mesh or ceramic wicks yet.

it was MileHighLife that was using the SS mesh wick. i am very interested in this or ceramic. getting very tired of getting burning taste from silica wick (Kanger coils). and my PT2 and Davide mini glassomizers keep leaking juice on me.

still havent purchased an RDA yet. using BHOLT attys for solids and glassomizers for ejmix.

what are your thoughts on a slim RDA as to cut down on oil settling in areas that the wick wont reach?

Funny you mention that, have one on the way as well as a patriot clone since they are now being made at the proper 22mm. The helios is 23 mm which is perfect for that big nasty ill be getting as it tapers to 23mm. , then i'll know what i want to spring for as far as a genuine RDA.

have some ejmix on the way! was half tempted to buy my own propelyen glycol and PEGs, but meh. whats 20 bucks to try it out.

Let us know which you like better smatchimo!

I like the look of the Igo-W2, that actually seems like it may be perfect for what we're trying to accomplish here. That or the helio so far seem to be the best, just the W2 looks like it may be a little tricky to get to work, does anyone have experience?

Just found this picture from this thread: http://webby.hazasite.com/r/RBA/comments/1rqbnv/igow2_dual_coil_this_thing_is_a_pain_in_the_ass/[IMG]

Looks very cluttered and maybe almost that you should be using nano coils? I think with the W2 you would be better off using ss mesh because of how small it is on the inside of the chamber, but i think it could work. The ceramic stones MAY be able to fit, but I can't eyeball it really because I've never built one. Maybe with the ceramic use quad coil with quad stones?

if i have to use something other than fingers and a screwdriver or hell even hex to to thread the wire through a post, forget it. gives me a headache thinking about it. maybe if i had a little soldering table or something lol. I think finding something with 3 post with more room for quads in its posts/well is easier to find than a 5 post that is perfect for all other needs. Need to start seeing some wax builds with 4 coils!

Which is relevant to what 2click was askin:

the $6 version is a pain to set up, the $16 is a breeze and replicates the original much better, but has that center post / 510 connection pin problem.

Im joining in, only ever owned one vape - standard ego and clearo for e juice , had considered just getting a globe attachment but I am way too diy and stingey to fork out for whole replacement attys just because the coils burnt out

    just ordered a -

    Chi you silver pin
    Q2 ceramic cup rda
    Patriot rda
    Sony 18650s and charger.

Now to order my wire, which is where i could use a lil advice... Im wondering too if the kanthal ribbon wire will help give some extra surfact area for the wick/ceramic to contact, also looks as if it could be more rigid? Im thinking of using a steel rope wrapped in stainless mesh with 3/4 wraps of .6 kanthal ribbon, though I have never wound and tested a coil of any kind so i will spend a day in the shed with my meter practising.

Postage on the ceramic discs is crippling to nz, as most things from usa are, which is why i order from slowtech. I happen have a few other inert and porous items around the place and was wondering on your opinions whether or not they might be able to be used in a similar fashion with some chemical/heat sterilising and a little dremeling to shape?

    -coral rock
    -pumice rock
    -2mm pelletised activated carbon
    -aquarium ceramic rings
    -aquarium airstones
    -clay hydroton

Well. Went ahead and pulled the trigger on my order from fasttech. They go on holiday on the 25th so hopefully they will get my order shipped by then. But probably not.

Didn't order batteries from there though. What is the cheapest online source for batteries in the U.S.?
