I can't believe I forgot to add this earlier, when I'm using lower power on a mech I like to use a "kick" it adds vv and low volt protection to mechs really easily. Cheap ones are limited to like 15 watts so....

Anyone fuck with micro coils, for ecig juice its about the same performance from a 2ohm build that one would expect from a good sub ohm. Not sure if its usable for oil though, micro means small like 1/16 of an inch so the wick has to be tiny it will have almost no capacity but it totally changes the way power is used. Micro coil is skinny wick with like 10 wraps ALL touching tight to each other so no space between each wrap, I have only tried near 2ohm but it works good. It really cuts the monster demands we put on the batteries without costing performance. Maybe a ecig only tip but I'm head over heels about it so far, loads of info out on the subject. Turned an evod/proT into a pocket fog machine.

what kind of wick are you running?

400 ss mesh but most or all I was reading was using cotton in a dripper atty with normal ecig juice and they are getting just pure stupid huge clouds, like a pillow blowing out of their mouths. I'm trying to cut my nic habbit but this shit makes it hard.

Ok hes a little different with a nano coil on a bed of cotton totally hollow coil but watch how much vapor its nuts.

Nice. So it's a 3 post with vertical coils. What do you use for a wick? I've found that the cable and SS mesh wick setup definitely holds the most, and after 10 or so good hits the metal taste is totally gone. My friend didn't give me enough Rick Simpson oil to try vaping it, but I'd still like to know if anyone has done this and how it works. I'm also thinking about about the oil that collects in the drip well. It undergoes some sort of change because it never solidifies. I wonder if you can eat that like RSO...
reclaim oil is great to eat way better to injest than to vape imo.

abstract XstracT,
nano coils are sick too! went to a rba/rda class and cloud competiotion at local vape lounge. very interesting and cool if it was only for meds rather than ejuice it would have been awesome but still very fun. watched a bunch of coils being made but sadly everyone seemed to down on us stoners. 'felt like the only one with a med card' but other than that cant wait to make make an igo w4 into a wax machine! I can see some pourous air buble fish stone coming into play soon here! love this idea for errl

anyone have any knowledge on the Udt v8 pro 7amp limit! this thing is beast think it could be a back up for the Persei hercules combo! plus the igo w4 seemed to be the rda everyone has along with the soney 30amp limit cells thinking these r next in line! sub ohm safer and two 30amp cells running the 7.4v herc thinking sweet! and no worries with spring prob they fit just like nipple top efest

Wow! Been busy for a couple weeks and this thread really took off. I want to add in my :2c: for those that are still following, sorry I am a bit late to the party.

Rick simp oil is a great healing oil for oral and topical applications but like someone mentioned it's not a great vaping oil. Traditionally RSO is made using more polar solvents like ISO, high proof grain alcohol, or naphta with long extraction times to facilitate purging and decarb for oral activation. This means the oil is normally high in plant matter and waxes which vapes dirty and really leaves a lot to be desired with taste. On an rda like we are discussing you can easily dry burn the coil if you did vape RSO in a pinch to burn off all the impurities on your coil as long as your running a wick that can take the heat which is basically anything but cotton for the most part.

@deadheadbill nice setup you got comin from slow tech the only thing I noticed was that the batteries you chose are only rated for a 5.2a max discharge so any coil you make needs to be above that discharge rate for safe use. So stay above 1 ohm or so with those batteries.

Micro coils -I am currently running a .8 ohm dual "mini" (1/8" id) coil made of flat ribbon wire on an igo w (someone linked one earlier it works really well after drilling out the air holes ime) it's usually just for juice but I have thrown shatter on there and it worked just fine.

Wicks I normally use ekowool which is rated at a higher temp then silica but has similar performance IMO or I have been messing around with cotton for my juice setup lately which works well but I wouldn't want to use on a regular basis for oil I think.

Lots more experimenting needed glad to see we got a good discussion on this topic going now. Way overdue IMO considering the popularity of ecigs/rda's and concentrate pens.

Edit: @2clicker your right it was DHB my bad, got caught up the two pages and I remembered incorrectly.

not sure i posted what cells im using...? DeadHeadBill maybe...? i use efest imr 18350 & 18650 button head cells. i stay at or above 1ohm always.

i did however get my K2 mech mod (same one DHB posted a link to) and i LOVE it! ill get pics of it soon next to my magneto clone. short, slim, and damn sexy. best of all its only $18. the wait from slowtech did suck though.

Just posted this in the persei thread too but it seems these are the new "best of the best" IMR batteries on the market at the moment.

http://www.efestpower.com/Product/835619153.html

Please post up others if you know of higher capacity 30a discharge IMRs as I'm about to order a couple sets of batteries.
TIA
holy crap those r beast! better than the sony 30amp huh? only prob I see is a mag to daringly stack to 650s with the dual persei 7.4 herc setup as ive herd the sony cells can stack without mag and without comprimizing spring fuse. anyways great find! I wonder what AW will come up with in competition?

If they stack like normal efest flat tops you won't need to compress the spring which makes sense because efest batteries are made specifically with ecigarettes in mind and ecig guys stack in mods.

In fact since on the subject and we're not in the persei thread I'll throw this out there ... why would thc think that you would need to apply extra force to get flat tops to touch top to bottom with any imr? It just doesn't make sense ... the efest, Panasonic and Sony flat tops I own all stack great ... you can tell they are made to stack however if you use li ion batteries built for battery packs (they have absolutely no tab on top just a cylinder that's wrapped) so in this case I guess one may try smashing the batteries together because of the wrapping that covers part of the base/top of the battery but most of those batteries won't even work for our application anyway ...

IME if batteries have the short, flat button looking thing on top you're golden ... the ones you don't want have absolutely no tab up there cause they are just going to be soldered in line and they don't need the tab.

So here's a follow up for the people asking about if these are load n go or if you need to mess with it between hits.

Fully loaded

After about 5 hits ... at this point a hit will tear your face off

Down to where I would reload or grab a dabber to adjust what I can (I took 25 - 30 hits)

In these pics I loaded it and then just ripped at it until I was no longer satisfied with the vapor production no dabber or adjusting of the oil in the chamber.

I'm liking my thick ss wicks a lot too ... I feel like even if they haven't wicked anything their mass is enough to vaporize oils near or around them. With the cap off I can watch oil start to vape that isn't touching the wick but is near it.

Sorry for the double post mods .... if you even care about this thread:lol:

@MileHighLife :smug:
Have you tried lowering your coils down untill they almost touch the deck, I'm pretty sure that the flooding issue from a low positioned coil is void in this case and the less distance you force the oil to wick the better IMO. Thats all a guess cause your loading WAY more then I

Keep in mind you want to try to keep your coils positioned in line with your air holes for maximum vapor production as well.

Copy of a post I made on another forum...(grasscity)....

Shatter/Oil/Budder/Wax RBD e-cig-vape MOD.

Required..

1. Any dual coil RDA ( one with adjustable air flow would be best )

2. Any porous inert ceramic disc :- ( a couple of examples )

a.. http://silversurferv...avor-disc.html#
b.. http://aqualabtechnologies.com/conc...-glass/hsg-five-replacement-vapor-stones.html

3. Coil wire ( 32 i think ) ( this one measures 1.5ohm and I'm using about 4.4 volts ) but still playing with these figures..

4. Dremel or similar tool for cutting and shaping the ceramic discs...

Simply build as you would any RDA but wrap the wire around the disc instead. Top disc simply floats on top and touches the coils below. Also, make sure the air holes line up with the coils when placing back on the top.. ( I drilled out the holes a little too as they are quite small on this RDA )

This hits very similar to a Cera EO cart (but at the mo this is lower powered) but of course can now be used with any E-cig style vape pen. Built this yesterday kinda by accident when playing around with a way to attach my cera EO cart to my Pro-vari or other e-vapes, no luck with that! but came up with this instead & I think I like this solution better now anyway :)

* simply load about .1 - .2 of oil/wax at a time.. pulse the power for the oil/wax to soak into the disc then hit the power a little harder to take a hit once the disc are heated up( this ceramic config sucked up .6 of BHO very easily.. I'm guessing these discs 'could' hold up to 1g without any leaking out ) easily enough for a few days fun without reloading...

* clean every month or when required by stripping down, soaking in ISO and using a blow torch lighter to blast the ceramic discs & then rebuild

* works best when discs have a base of oil ( about .2 max ) already soaked into the discs before you start adding the oil you wish to vape..

* I think 28 wire would be better for a lower ohm to heat the discs up quicker..

* def need 18650 e-cig for this with good batteries too..

Peace..

:)

First off I want to say I've really enjoyed this thread. I learned a lot and love seeing everyone's builds. Any chance we can get some vids of any of these devices in action? I have a k100 mech and a trident rda setup with microcoils and cotton that I've been using for ejuice. I have some ss mesh and some of those 7th floor flavor discs on the way, can't wait to give this a go for concentrates.

Lucidlemonade, I really like the looks of that ceramic build. Is the top disc really necessary? Have you tried loading directly on the coil wrapped ceramic? What is the benefit of using the top cap?

Thanks again to the op and everybody who contributed here, keep it going. I'd love to see some more builds and especially some usage videos.

Someone needs to make a GonG 510 drip tip, would love to use one of these through a ht.

i was just thinking this the other day. another solution would be shaping the top cap of the RDA like a gong joint.

sorry for the double post!

The resistance has to with the gauge and length of the wire. So, if it has a larger inside diameter you need less wraps to achieve the same resistance.

i see... i am going to be doing the rebuildable thing soon. thanks for the heads up.
