I am on the test train now as well.. flow was fine at first try, but is changing..
I am also going to have to give it an "overstuff" test, and stir test, for sturdyness... because if Rick makes a change it is going out to some newbies that may not be as cautious, or adept as all of you that are doing this!

The WHOLE? Vito, you are so cool!
Give it the real test for sure!
Damn Man, is that the front or back view?

My vote is to leave them how they are. If particulate gets through, use two stock screens. That way, the buyer can choose which way works best for them.

Will you try 2 stock screens Vito and see how it compares to 1 finer screen and 1 stock screen?

I have found a very helpfull technique for keeping your screen cleaner for longer is every time you dump out a load make sure to give a very forcefull blow into the stem to clean out all particles.I do this from both ends. Make sure the stem is fresh out of the RZ, the heat makes ALL of the difference.

That would be my main concern - I have owned vapes with finer screens and they consistently get clogged. Even the screens on my MZ get clogged from time to time and require a good ISO cleaning or a sharp stick. I have yet to have any issues with particulate matter getting through.

Of course a good water pipe hookup negates these problems as well, and is good fun :)

No question about increased up-keep of the screen. It is a trade off, better performance, frequent cleaning.

I always did this with my SSV wand and with my UD stem too, you can go a lot longer without an actual cleaning this way. Awesome looking combo you have there by the way man.

Lots of Zaps out today for an expected Thursday arrival. One order is delayed for a day or so and has been notified. Orders in the last day or two should go tomorrow. Two prizes in the '300' contest out by Thursday.

I also want to put the word out that short GonG stems will be delayed til the end of the week. I have some over sized tubing coming in that will make a better fit for GonG stems. Any order that includes GonG stems EXCEPT a Zap order will be held til the new tubing is in stock. Zap orders will ship now. GonG stems, if included in the order, will be going out later in the week.

I would like to see that excellent example of no charring in the units you were talking about Rick :D

Nycdeisel,
Hey Deez, if you haven't checked your email lately, would you take a look when you get a moment. I sent you a couple pieces of glass I'm looking at and am hoping you will give me your take.

Can anyone tell me what this is? I know it is some type of hash, but does anybody have a guess as to what type?

My plan is to crumble some up, load in some green, then some of this, then some more green. That sounds right. Can anyone confirm?

Also, I am trying to convince the family accountant that we need a Zap turned by the man himself. No luck yet, but I'm determined :D

Magic9,
Yeah man that's some bubble hash! I crumble it up all the time and zap it, then after smoke it , hash is super potent like that. It so works well!
I load it between a bit of weed so it doesn't burn onto the zap screen
You also get a amazing taste from it

We got Nycdeisels Black Locust CRZ back a few days ago. It had a lateral crack so I gave it a twist........

This one has been on for a few months making big clouds and running nice and hot. It was not a surprise to see the wood right next to the SS heatport assembly. No charring. Maybe some slight glazing around the top ceramic insulator which had to be chipped out as the wood had shrunk.

Here is some charring in an old wood insulated MZ. This one is not bad.

As sad as it is to see NYC's vape in two pieces like that, it's really nice to see that Rick's theory was correct.

All in the name of science, right NYC? :D

indeed, Mom! ;)

I knew it was not in good shape for quite a while before finally sending it back in. I knew of its fate. Like i just told Rick in an email its almost a relief to see the top off simply because i saw it coming for so long but i viewed it as a scary thing, its not so scary now plus i know i will have something else in its place soon enough.

Its not too sad now, at least i got to say goodbye ! do not mistake this post for me not caring. I LOVED, loved that black locust rockzap, its sad to see it die but i know its inner spirit will be transfered to another body

bye bye black locust, you will be missed. :peace:

To anyone that has multiple CRZ's, do you notice a heat difference from one to the next? If so, how much?

I would guess my Sumo is in the 345F range and I'd guess my black locust is around 400F. The sumo produces almost completely green ABV where as the black locusts is nearly black.

THCMuscle,

Mine is probably mid-range. I get a mix of light brown to dark brown AVB. I think I'm going to try and find a wrist band or something to use as a coozie since I prefer an even dark chocolate brown AVB.

I actually prefer my Sumo. My redwood is very similar in temp to the sumo.

My Sumo gets me super baked and my herb looks unused, I love it!

All my Zaps run at different temps. Every single one of them. Of the CRZ's, my black locust runs the hottest, then my Sumo, and then the Ambrosia Maple. I find it interesting that my Sumo runs hotter than the maple since it is one of the "Out on a Limb" series and has a lot of wood mass around the heat port. And, while I can't give you exact temps, this Zapolina weighs in with the answer Yes!

This is sooooo sweet! I was ready to tell THC to get in touch if his Sumo is not up to par and we would fix it somehow. Generally, the Sumos are hot little sweets so yours surprises me. Then I read "I actually prefer my Sumo. My redwood is very similar in temp to the sumo. My Sumo gets me super baked and my herb looks unused, I love it!".
So WTF is it? Why all just a little different but still making vapor that satisfies? I still think it is magic.
I also am more and more confident of the original Eterra design that incorporates a heatsink of some kind in the vapor flow. That heatsink, in our case a solid SS machined core, has a dual purpose. As time passes, it becomes more evident that the extra mass(which is the reason our design takes close to an hour to preheat) serves another very important purpose, that being to moderate and stabilize the heated air we produce. The extra mass acts as a dampener in a way, especially when the entire mass of wood and stainless stabilize in temperature. Our design will not allow the heated air to get hot enough to combust with a simple standard 12 volt transformer at a fixed temperature. That same design will give different ABV colors with the same number of pulls. Slightly different but still satisfying to many.We do not provide that giant, a few degrees below combustion experience as some logs will offer. We do offer consistent clean vaping with never a hint of the big C. We find the ABV is very close to empty of anything after several pulls in the CRZs. It may not be dark brown but it is empty.

Sorry for a few delays here at Zapville. Stem tubing and GonG tubing will not make it til early next week. We also had a broken water line and Pats 68th BD that kept us busy and happy. Water line fixed. When BDs get past 60 or so, it is good to get them over and on with life.
Wow! 900 posts! I like 3's. Nine is cool because it is 3 3's.
HA!......................NO! you fuckers.................!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though me be good 'n ginned up........no contest! I still have to get last weeks prizes done tomorrow. Or soon.
