For an average Myrtlezap fully warmed up and drawing the slowest hit possible has anyone heard about what temperature it reaches? Just thinking in terms of full cannabinoid delivery. Depends where you look on the web at what temperatures all the cannabinoids get vaped. Each site says something a little different. You know you're safe at 450 F but probably a little less will do.

I've had my Myrtlezap about 3 months and went back to smoking for a while because I like full cannabinoid delivery and I am also waiting for a SSV to arrive to try it out. A few days ago I started concentrating on drawing the slowest hits possible with my Myrtlezap and have noticed better results with a full cannabinoid like feel you get with smoking. Plus the weed is fully brown now when I take it out.

I've also heard of the 13.5V & the beer can warmer method. I sometimes wrap a sock around my zap.

I don't feel safe at 450. Too much toxic shit being released at temps that high.............for me.

I have to agree with Iwien, i prefer my vapor a bit under 450, this temp would likely leave your ABV black and charred.

It is hard to know the exact temp, for several reasons. The main one is, you can't measure the temperature of the herb while vaporizing, even with a "digital temp display" the sensor is not exactly where the herb is. Also, different strains will release at slightly different temps. Also, the moisture content in your herb will effect delivery temp.

I know that the PD's operate between 365-395. I assume the Zaps are about the same. I have taken the ABV from my PD and ran it thru the Ion at 380 and got a nice bag or two. Not really tasty, and didn't get me as blasted as a fresh stem, but it worked. I tried going to 385, but it started to taste like smoke, so I knew I was getting some of the bad stuff, so I shut her down. I read a few reports that you start getting toxins at 382, so for me, 380 is my max. If I was going to go to 450, I think I'd just sell all my vapes and smoke instead.

That was my first thought when I read hades65 post. If it's that high, why not just smoke it? It seems that some people just aren't happy or haven't adjusted to the different high from vaping. It took me a while. Now, I have to say I like it much more.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought if you were right below the combustion temp you still had a whole lot less material being put in your lungs. I have no experience in approaching that temp though.

It's hard to analyze highs because I'm fucked up and don't remember the last one  but those upper-end temperature vaped cannabinoids seem to mellow the high out a bit for me.

Pat and I had a nice visit with "our" glass guy today. He has been in the business for many years and is very busy with a crew, even in todays economy. He does all kinds of glass and glass repair. He was very excited and so were we after our meeting. We took him a MZ and several tips and other stuff. I have an idea that will work for removable tips and easy cleaning but he first has to check with the manufacturers of the few bonding agents available as to their safety for the intended use. Temp does not matter to him as much as food safe. In the meantime he is working on some pieces for us to sample using another idea I had for the tip. Some simple and small, some simple and longer and then on up from there. He said he would have some stuff in about two weeks for me. We have not worked out the details on how they will be available for purchase or pricing as I have to wait for his pricing per different unit. His wheels were really turning over a small simple custom bubbler for the Zap. He is also very big on durability.
We will post updates as soon as I get them.
Custom washers were delayed a week because I sent them a chunk of tubing with instructions on the exact fit I wanted and it sat on the salespersons desk. Brings back memories of when Pat and I met in '64. I was a dispatcher in a big machine shop making Minuteman missile parts. As soon as you put a special note or tag on something, it got delayed as if folks were afraid to move it. I am glad the washer thing happened though because we got to talk more thoroughly about exactly what I want. Got home from our trip today and she left a message to call her so I hope all is well. Too late to get her tonight.
Edit for:
We used to put a small hole in the vapor stem handle. We did it for the introduction of cooler ambient air into the vapor flow. It was popular but many customers covered it with tape, not using it. It would also confuse newbies. We stopped it a couple years ago because a loose lip lock will do the same thing and to avoid confusion. We still do them regularly for some old customers. Just got a request for two stems from a 2004 customer and she wanted the small hole in one stem. Just to clarify as the topic was brought up a while back.

Thanks Rick. Sounds like some very cool ideas you have in store for Zapville. I am excited. I am sure these things take time, but please continue to keep us updated. Good luck, on farms and Zaps. Very glad to see the change in construction, I hope you'll get back in your groove with the new design.

Sounds like some exciting growth in Zapville! I like the idea of some stems being simple. Not everyone likes the "eye of Zeus" staring them in the face while they are toking. :) I like that they will be different lengths too and a removal tip for cleaning is intriguing. You can count me as being one of the first in line for some of these new stems!

With it being such a busy time of year there at the farm, I'll bet a weeks delay on your washers is almost welcome. It has given you some time to get things planted, get new ideas rolling, and hopefully, take some time for well needed rest and recreation. Thanks for the update. :D

Its fun to hear that things are moving along in vapville! I cant want to see what kind of glass will be coming in a few weeks. This is pretty exciting! I would love to see a little bubbler.

Thanks for the update, and please keep us updated!

On a tip from stickstones, I used my Zap today with some wand hash. Zowee. :whoa:

He advised that you just use the straw method to suck a few strands up into the stem. I probably put the equivalent of 3 pinheads worth in. I got 6 or 7 beautiful clouds of vapor and I've gotta tell you I feel mighty fine. I didn't think you could use these types of vapes for wand hash and am really glad to be proven wrong. I'm starting to realize that you can do about anything with this style of vape.

I think I learn something new every day on this forum.

Just ordered my MZ Saturday night. I didn't expect to get a shipping verification email on Sunday, but hope for one today. What do you guys think from experience? How long after you ordered did it ship, and then how many days it take to get to you? I'm just too anxious which is why I ask. Hopefully I get it this week.

Btw, first post on FC, hopefully I'll be making a lot more!

Welcome to the forum Sleepy. I ordered a MZ from Rick with special requests. He still managed to get it to me in one week. However, Rick has been making some modifications to the MZ which may delay shipment for you slightly. He was waiting for the new washers that would be delivered this week, last I heard. I'm sure if you send him an email directly, he will be able to tell you more specifically when to expect it. He's great to work with.

I don't know if you are new to vaping or to this style vape, but you may want to consider getting the 13.5v adapter in addition to the standard 12v. I keep my MZ on 24/7 with the 12v, only changing to the 13.5 when I am vaping. My unit runs a little cooler than I want and it helps amp up the tokes. Again, I don't mean to speak for Rick, but you may be able to negotiate for that instead of the car adaptor, etc. It is only an additional $10 if shipped with the unit itself, so not a big expense if ordered in addition.

I'm pretty sure you will love your new vape, I know I do. Happy vaping and be sure to check in with us on the MZ thread and let us know how you like it when you get it. Maybe post a pic or two? We love our wood porn here. ;)

I am really considering getting an MZ. I like the efficiency of this vape and the wood grain.

The only thing I am waiting on is the glass. That is really the determining factor for me.

I spent a few days reading all the posts on this thread and I just wanted to thank everyone for the pictures and the intelligent posts that have gotten me interested is this product.

Well I know that the glass is in the works, but a few weeks out. I bet in no time we will have tons of glass.

Rick is great to work with, and will make sure that you like what you get. He is really hands on with what your desires are, and filling them as much as he can.

I couldn't recommend the Zap enough. I was torn between a WDZ or a Zap, and I am thrilled that I chose to support Rick and the Myrtlezap.

collegerower,

the ob

all good in the hood.
So I am joining the club. I ordered my myrtlezap today with a few custom/requests. I originally had a pandora on order but really was not up for building it myself. I also wanted something with a warrantee. I am sure one will be in my future. I had ordered a myrtlewood one so, ordering a myrtlezap was a no-brainer. Especially now that they are 100% lead free.

My emails with rick have been speedy and super friendly. I am excited about some of the new products in the future (glass stems, bubbler etc)

I am still on the fence about the extra 13.5 adapter as most people seem to like it for the break in period, then go back to the 12. I am not a guy who necessarily needs huge hits. My lungs are sensitive.

I ordered without the LED as I figured it would be a little more stealthy and one less thing to break. I do like the light though.

Glad to be here and excited to get my new vape soon....

Glad to hear you went with a zap! I bet you wont regret it!

You are not alone in being excited about the glass options that will be coming soon :brow:

I was also on the fence about the 13.5, but the way I looked at it is that its another accessory that you can try out with it. If I didn't get it, I would have always wondered if I was missing out on something. I like the 13.5, and my girlfriend prefers the 12. Everyone is different.

I also went without the LED. I just didn't want some big light sticking out form the beautiful grain patten. Doesn't go with the zen feel I wanted.

Now some updates.
Today the first production batch with the revised heatport assembly go on the test bench and will ship tomorrow. The new design took a bit of tweaking in the production process. The end product fits and looks almost identical to the old heatport, except the heatsink is stacked washers rather than a solid piece. Getting it there took some changes but it is happening.
But what really happened is Rick is not in his routine mode. I have been there for years, doing what had to be done, the same way every time. Repeat, repeat. But this heatport change has sparked me a bit. Not only will it all be 100% RoHS but we are making it better by adding some mass which will hold heat better. Cannot say if it will be hotter(although Pat says the prototype is a bit hotter) but the extra mass will help for sure. Might take a bit longer to get up to heat but most folks leave them on 24/7 anyway so that is not an issue. The custom washers will be here in about two weeks. I will have more updates when they arrive.
this was the mail reason I thought I might not need the 13.5. It sounds like with the new heatport assembly will have added mass which will hold heat better. I am not sure if this means it will be hotter or not. And I am still on the fence about the 13.5. any input would be good. I am looking forward to this unit for sure.

Well I already gave my opinion to go for it. Its only $10. I am overly efficient when I vape (because I am not keeping my abv due to a move soon) so I like to make sure I get everything I can out of my herbs.

Plus I figure if/when I get tired of it, someone that is just buying a Zap would take it off my hands. :2c:

Gatsby, I don't think you would regret the decision. I love mine and have ordered one more for myself, and one for a present. Rick is great to work with (Iknow, I've said it before, but he really is).

ob, I am one of the ones who ordered the 13.5 and I am happy I did. As collegerower said, it's only $10 and it would avoid any disappointment upon receiving it. However, Rick would also ship one right out to you if you let him know it was needed after you've had a chance to see for yourself. The difference will be the extra $5 shipping. I will say that I've noticed that my Zap is running slightly warmer now on the 12v, but it is still not quite where I want it. I'm so glad you decided to check out the MZ. I think you will really like it. Welcome to the MZ club! :D If you can, post a picture of yours when you get it.

You are more than welcome ob! I know I, personally, had tons of questions in the beginning and no patience for reading 100's of pages before I could start vaping!

If you have any more questions after you get your Zap, let us know. There can be a slight learning curve with any vape and until you practice with it and learn it's individual "personality" it can be frustrating. Have fun!

Edit - By "us" I mean the Zap thread. :)
