MiniVAP Vaporizer

Well I just had my whole unit (battery and heater) replaced a few weeks ago, apparently with a new unit... but who knows. The battery is certainly not spectacular.

How old is your unit? I think the newer units have a blue indicator light at full charge which is a change from the old.

In my case I am questioning the overall battery life if the first stage is expelled within minutes.

I'm going keep track and let it run down so I can see how long I'm really getting.
All three of my units since last August have been blue at full charge. The last two, including the one I have now, the blue light changes to green within less than a minute, actually probably less than 30 seconds.

I tend to turn my unit on-off between sessions which will really work/stress the battery. I get four 5-10 min sessions before it goes red.

I'm curious to hear if you find the signature and taste as unique and enjoyable as a lot of us here have!

The way that I've been experimenting with the MV, it's kinda hard to nail down the sig, but if pressed, I'd say the sig in regards to the high is, well.............high. This thing fucks me up pretty quickly. In regards to the taste, I don't find the taste any better than I have with my LSV but...............the thing that REALLY impresses me is that, in regards to hitting it, it is totally idiot proof. No learning curve there. I can hit it as slow or as hard as I want and still get great results. I've never used a vape that had this characteristic . I mean I can draw majorilly (no such word, eh?) hard and fast and still get the same kind of clouds as when I'm drawing slow.

The nice thing about drawing hard and fast is that I am getting that vapor very deep into my lungs from the second I start to hit it and that, the way I see it, is a major plus and could account for how quickly and effectively the MV medicates me.

Oh, the AC puck does not work at all. No power to the MV.
....................................................................................
lwien,

yet another "character trait" of the mV......

The AC puck gets screwed on obviously. But, it seems like it is tight/on when it needs another 1/64" twist and then it snaps into place. Just shy of that, it feels like it is connected but it is not.
Look at the contacts which are the world's smallest lol.
So, twist and shout----
Please report back.

Wow. I screwed it on pretty damn tight. I didn't want to go any further for fear of breaking something.

Is yours the glass core or the teflon core?
I currently have the teflon core with the new heater and latest firmware. I previously had the glass core with the new heater. And before that, I had the teflon core with the old heater. IMO, the models with the new heater run differently than the old models, which is why I use them differently.

That said, I have to take back what I said about something being wrong with your results. If @Smknbud is correct, and your unit is functioning more like the old models, then you should thank your lucky stars. IMO, the teflon with old heater was the optimal MiniVAP setup for taste and cloudage.

I've spent a ridiculous amount of time and money chasing that dragon lol. You can read more about my odyssey here and here, if you're interested.

PS: @scottg402, I'm pretty sure the blue means full charge on the older firmware. I definitely remember seeing that, too, on my original unit.

That's what I'm shooting for. I would love it if we got started within a month. These things take time to do right.

I hope you can also be a contact person for US customers. I've been waiting for them to respond to an email for weeks now...

I loved this vape when I got it. But the really spotty customer service and all the failed units really almost has me wanting to just forget I ever bought this paperweight and just move on. I already replaced it with an e-nano because I knew the service time would be long, but this has just been ridiculous.

Is the hit great? Yeah. Is it worth the hastle? No (imo).

For me, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the MV will be problem free. As of right now, with the adjustments I've made in regards to preheating the core, I'm lovin' it. So much more convenient to use than my LSV, and (and this is SUPER important for me) there is absolutely no cooking of herb as it's heating up, in between hits or as it's cooling down. Super efficient. For me, this is a keeper.

Will it replace my LSV? Don't know yet. Need a bit more time with it but I will say this. It "could".

Have new firmware an tfcore minivap. I get best clouds on green an red. In beginning it was seal inside. I connect the flexi+ over the silicone flexicone. Then basket an compress it close tight. Way better clouds. Inhale fast, you go slow not much but rip it hard for like 10 to 15 seconds huge clouds. An taste is amazing.

How do you check the firmware?

And yeah, hitting it fast and hard really works well which is so counter-intuitive for me being that typically, with all the other vaporizers that I've owned and tried, the opposite is true.

I'll figure that out. There are a ton of slightly differing firmwares out there that all work pretty much the same. Once I get that nailed down I will spend some time with you on it. But the newer ones have some ability to adjust the temps. It's not something to do blind, however, as the higher temps can mess up the teflon if you don't know what you are doing.

As to replacing your LSV...I wouldn't be surprised if you use the MV more. But I really love having 3+ great vapes to rotate with and keep the sig tolerance in check. I would imagine the LSV would make a great combo with the MV, and whatever you have for a third. You still rocking any log vapes?

This vape has so many options it can be overwhelming...teflon vs glass, portable vs wall wart, decarb kit, three different baskets, two different stems and mating with water...

No more logs. The three vapes that I have that are now in current rotation is the LSV, the MV and the MFLB. I have the FV as a backup.

WOWZA !!!

So I just took my flexicone with the small basket that I loaded up and took 3 dry hits from yesterday and put that same load inverted in the M2M that came with the D-20-D. Fired up the MV to green, put MV on top of flexicone and took a fast, deep inhale. WHAMO. Took wayyyyy more that I thought the MV was producing. So after doing a bit of coughing I can clearly say that this damn thing hits as hard as my LSV does, for me, especially through water.

Was NOT expecting that.......

Just received word from the mail company that the parcel is expected to be delivered by the 15th... When I paid £16 extra to have it delivered within 24-48 hours. I don't know what's going on but I'm not impressed.

For me, the biggest thing that turned it around for me in regards to the MV was increasing my draw speed. With all my other vapes, unless I drew really slow, it would cool down too much. With the MV, it's kind of the opposite. It seems like to really got the hot air from the heater to the herb, it requires a strong pull which also has the side benefit of getting the vapor deeper into your lungs.

LOVIN' my MV. It just exudes quality, from the fit, to the finish, how it feels in the hands, the heft of it, the tactile feel of the buttons, the brightness of the LED's, the vapor production, the taste and just the plain fact that you can hit this vape as hard as you want and it just keeps comin' at ya.

So glad that my initial impressions were part of the learning curve and not the vape itself.

Another thing I find is that the silicone nipple perfectly fits a 14mm male joint. I just keep the nipple with the basket on the 14mm male joint and use the minivap like a heater, sorta like a log vape or lsv, to make it pure convection. Roger D's videos showed me this and was a major reason why I bought the mv.

Lwien, I totally agree and start with a slow draw and speed it up til I fill my lungs fully. It is the opposite of conduction or hybrid vapes that you need to sip.
